If anyone has the newest issue of Sports Illustrated, the parachute incident is mentioned on page 21 in a story entitled "Chute Happens - A Brief History of the Aerial Entrance."
We were in the third row of the endzone, right underneath him, I was very surprised to see him jump up unhurt, thanks for posting this, we were too stuned to turn the camera on..
The skydiving bearcat was actually an army jumper in the bearcat costume. with the head on and hands, it was hard to see the wire, and control the chute.
I was one of the few army/airforce personnel on the field at the time.
Took me a while to find your video, but your capture is better than the one I posted. Good job! Looks like your seats are in the upper deck. We're down near the band.
I love the atmosphere and had a great time, but it was pathetic. People show up late into the second quarter and by the fourth quarter a third to half the stadium is again vacant. It shouldn't have even taken a 10 win season to fill up a 35k stadium for a team that has had several winning seasons over recent years. It's an undervalued team that deserves better from the fans and the local and national media.
It's sickening to actually hear people being entertained as he falls to the ground. I was there and found it terrifying. Thank God he didn't appear to be badly hurt. It could have been so much worse.
I was wondering if this would end up on youtube. That video looks like it was taken from a similar angle from where I was. A few more feet ahead and it could have gotten pretty ugly.
haha yeah i know (i was there), and even if 8000 seats were not filled, it still got loud, the outcome was the same. therefore, youtube arguements are pointless! :-)
this was way before the game started, i can send you a picture of the stadium after the game started so you can see all the people that were there. it definitly was not empty.
Dude, it was two weeks before school starts. Clifton is empty for the two weeks between end of exams and the start of next quarter. And it was a Thursday night game against a D-1AA opponent. And the Bengals and Reds had games that started at the same time.
There's not a single school in the country that would sell out a Thursday game against a D-1AA opponent when two local professional teams have games at the same time, especially when there's no students around.

my guess - Cincy sells out no more than 2 games this year.
I'll guess Rutgers (since it should be a good game and its homecoming) and Pitt (since I assume they are a regional rival).
that's it. If you guys dont sell out those two games (homecoming against a good inter-conference team and a regional rival), Cincy football is officially pathetic.
UC is on pace to sell out there next 4 home games. The Miami game on Sept. 20th is very close to a pregame sell out. So actually you are officially pathetic...

I dont know what is more surprising - the parachuting accident or the ALL OF THE EMPTY SEATS. way to support your football team Cincy fans!!! I guess it is true that no one in Ohio gives a f#ck about Cincy football.
This was half an hour before the game started. That section behind him was sold out and filled at game time. Wonderturtle knows not what he talks about.

the official attendence was 26K in a stadium that holds 35K.
that is essentially only 2/3 full. or 1/3 empty (depending upon your perspective). either way you look at it, that is just pathetic on OPENING DAY after a 9-win season!! pathetic.
so remind me, who exactly "knows not what he talks about"?
I do no think it is pathetic at all. It was a good time for 26,913 people. I am sure more would have liked to have been there but with the Bengals playing at the same time, a long weekend full of family vacations, the student body not having to be in school until September 26, and it being a thursday night they could not be there to sell it out. I wonder why you are so bitter about it. You keep saying that no one in Ohio cares, yet 26,913 did attend and more listened on 700 WLW.

never knew calling someone "silly" made one a "hardguy".
so I apologize if calling you "silly" was too harsh. I didnt realize Cincy fans were such a sensitive bunch.
