  • Under the Mountain dark and tall, The King has come unto his hall! His foe is dead, the Worm of Dread, And ever so his foes shall fall! The sword is sharp, the spear is long, The arrow swift, the Gate is strong. The heart is bold that looks on gold; and dwarves no more shall suffer wrong. The mountain throne once more is freed! O! Wandering folk, the summons heed! Come haste! Come haste! Across the waste! The king of freind and kin has need.
  • THE HEART IS BOLD THAT LOOKS ON GOLD

  • Whenever I read the Hobbit and get to the song parts I always sing them in the tune of this movie! So fantastic and such a large part of my childhood. I even bought the soundtrack on vinyl off ebay. I'm excited to see the new Hobbit movie and how they'll do the songs though. But these will always have a special place in my heart.

  • i remember my grandfather and i used watch this since i was a child man what a memory that was :)

  • This song reminds me of when I was a kid. I would go to my grandparents house, and Grandpa would play the hobbit on vhs that he recorded of the tv when it aired,... I don't know, 30 years ago. It has always reminds me of simpler times.

  • The sword is sharp, the spear is loooooonnngggg... : )

  • Better than any other version! it has this magical feel to it, where you know something epic will happen !

  • The dwarves in equestria? and I Can't wait for the new hobbit movie XD!!!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if watching the original Hobbit movie brought you here and you needed to cure some nostalgia... Or don't thumb, either way.

  • I love listening to this song on repeat while playing minecraft late at night

  • this was a goddamn awesome movie. no matter how good the new hobbit is, it will never beat this shit right here.

  • THIS song will always be the song I think of when I think of The Hobbit...

  • Catata fish's tale will soon be told.

  • *ahem* the only thing I could think about was how the guy under the T in HOBBIT looks like Tom Selleck...

  • 0o cant belive i forgot about this movie

  • i love old music in general and hate the new so i can already see me in movies shaking my head and humming these songs instead.i kinda hope they shy away from all the singing thats in the book.it works well in the cartoon and even better in the book(cuz tolkien is a literacy god) but i dont see it in the peter jackson light.

  • @MrJonesywales I reckon that the "silly" songs may be snuck in subtly, in the background and things ;)

  • Amazing :D

  • Can't wait to see the 2012 Hobbit

  • I watched this movie like every day since 5 years old til i was like 12 and lost the damn VHS tape.

  • @noobingtosurvive go to piratebay before sopa passes. save yourself a copy from a DVD rip if you can.

  • Back in the day I remember whining and complaining about being made to watch this movie. Now, I couldn't be more proud to have seen it.

  • the misty mountains cold song from the new hobbit trailer is the one called Gandalf's reflection from original hobbit (where they are looking to travel back to the mountain)..this version of "misty mountains cold" is after they killed smaug and got their treasure back..as you can see the lyrics are different. all 3 songs are awesome

  • Pure epicness!!! Trailer version is good, but this one is classic epic!

  • The original version is always better, deal.

  • Smaug Disliked this video! :D

  • crap ;3

  • @khaiyoshi3

Up yours. This is a classic.

  • Not as epic as The Hobbit trailer music.

  • @iszalgocomin

Not really fair to compare the 2012 soundtrack to something that came in the late 70's, is it?

    Both versions are good.

  • @iszalgocomin \

    But have rhythmic melody.

  • thumbs up if "The Hobit" trailer sent you here.

  • @Zerono32 its the Hobbit...

    not hobit

  • @Zerono32 The book brought me here

  • QUE CANCIÓN MAS MARAVILLOSA!

  • THATS THE GREATEST I'VE EVER FOUND ON YT! THX THX THX

  • This reeks of 80's....

  • They're remaking this? I gotta re-watch the original, haven't seen it since I was knee high on a hobbit. To Netflix I go!

  • Bilbo made Smaug go Bass to Mouth with that riddle.

  • i used to rent this every weekend. most excellent sound track.

  • this song is one of the songs i've known the longest....i had this memorized before i could read my own name. it's always enchanted me....

  • Jesus, the goosebumps I get from listening to this... I cannot thank you enough for posting this soundtrack online, my good sir. Now, if I can find the Return of the King [1980] soundtrack online, also by Maury Laws, I will be an extremely happy person.

  • Wow, so many great memories, i miss this so much.

  • When I was 8, which was really only 8 years ago, I would rent this whenever my parents took me to Blockbuster. I still hear these versions of the songs whenever I read the book.

  • Catatafish's riddle will soon be told.

  • Ah, the music and animation that first introduced us to the works of Tolkien.

  • this needs to be in the 2012 movie

  • @a70ism It's in the Trailer for The Hobbit!!

  • @indysoul86 Why yes it is. I saw the trailer and was like, "HOLY CRAP! That's from the 70's hobbit! AWESOME!"

  • @indysoul86 actually they are singing 07 Gandalfs Reflection.

  • @a70ism And now it is.

  • Reading J.R. Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' now! Can't seem to stop reading it, every page I turn is another incredible, adventerous and fascinating that drives me away from reality and into Middle-Earth.

The movie will be just as good!!!

  • Lord, how I loved this song as a boy.

  • My mom and stepdad were having a garage sale. I was helping out with setting up everything and stuff since I was selling some of my old stuffed animals. During the day, my stepdad comes out with the video tape of the Hobbit. I quickly ran over, basically shouting "DON'T YOU DARE SELL THAT!!"

  • @Arinochan i aplaud your actions. this movie is a masterpiece. peter jackson i know will ruin the hobbit. you all know it to

  • @crazystein65 Why do you say so? For an interpretive retelling of the story, he remained very true to the LotR trilogy. Of course, it seems concessions are going to be made to offer some "nostalgia" for viewers who have seen the previous films, but otherwise The Hobbit looks very promising. The crew (if you've been following the production segments being offered on the official Facebook page for The Hobbit) have been putting their heart and soul into the new films! I'm hopeful.

  • @wisgliebau it is just in the lord of the rings trilogy , i felt did not capture the charm of the books. the hobbit had alot of charm. so im afraid he will fail again. and ruin the hobbit. heck hey may do it right this time. but you never know

  • @crazystein65 People thought the same about the trilogy, but its pretty widely accepted he did a good job. Don't be one of those people that assumes something will be bad before seeing it. Give it a fair chance, and if it is a piece of garbage, than treat is as such. But give it a chance

  • i hope i hear this on Jackson's movie version 3<3<3<3

  • If Peter Jackson's version is anything like this, I'm so watching it. I've never gotten around to watching his trilogy, but I absolutely loved the Rankin/Bass Hobbit <3

  • Awesome! I had this record (and accompanying picture book) as a kid and listened to it over and over. This was probably my second favorite. (15 Birds is my favorite.)

  • wow... epic stuff and what nostalgia it brings... great upload, thanks!

  • I so loved the songs from this movie when I was a boy, and now I find I love them still. Thank you, sir.

  • So amazing, moving, epic, emotional, and evocative. It's Tolkien's song lyrics literally made real.

  • 87 likes 0 dislikes thats what i like to see

  • there is something about this song that is so beautiful wow absolutely incredible

  • i used to listen to this all my life.

  • There is magic and that music....

  • I laugh, I cry, It moves me Dude.

    Awsome and Epic!!!!!!

  • i love this so much........my favorite one i think........so comforting but 'chilling' at the same time....magical!! i''ll just leave it at magically awesome!! HAHAHA thank you so much.

  • It brings so many memories back to me...Going in the forest...listening to nature...and going down to the creek and listening to it run...so many wonderful memories...

  • This song brings back memories...

When I was little- I would go to the house very dear friends of our family. Their house was in the middle of boggy woods, and the house was full of all kinds of strange art from all sorts of cultures, some of it sort of scary. I remember watching this animation, the wet soggy presentation of the environments really hit home- and the soundtrack (this song in particular) mystified me. It was all so perfect!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • there only a record on amazon

  • This brings back fond childhood memories! :D

  • The best part is nearly all of the songs in the cartoon were straight from the book, unlike the RotK ones (which were still great songs, don't get me wrong) that were made only for the cartoon.

  • @GlennReturns you don't happen to have ROTK do you?

  • The thing that really made this movie great was it's soundtrack. The songs were so uplifting, haunting, gruesome, and inspiring. They fit so well with Tolkien's words

  • @GlennReturns I would love to have this soundtrack(however I find the portrail of the elvs in this vid awfull) they are suposed to be fair,, even the dark ones or the unwilling are most beautifull, yet no better portrade then an ent

  • A beautiful song. I only wish they had also done the version of the song at the beginning of the book.

  • @dragonsoul0 They did do it im gonna search again in my cluttered closet of Doom lol

  • Can you make an instrumental of this?

  • I want this album!

  • the charachters looks soooooo different from the movies

  • AWESOME !

  • have the instrumental version?

  • but werent the lyrics

far under the misty mountains cold to dungeons deep and caverns old we must await the faithfull day to claim our long forgotten gold

  • @theangrysmurf12 That was the song at the beginning in Bilbo's house. This is a song near the end that the dwarves sing to cheer Thorin's mood when they are besieged in the mountain (at least in the book, I haven't seen this movie).

  • The exact song i was looking for fave song in the movie! There should be a only instrumental one.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never knew there was a CD/record. The only versions I had of these originally I did years ago by placing a tape recorder in front of the TV speaker.

Hearing this in its full,,,,cold chills!!!

  • @thesagebrushkid I used to have a kid record of this. But it was with a narrator.

  • LoL so did I... came with a little book and a 45 record right? Had it when I was like 6 years old and it terrified me... so of course I became obsessed with Tolkien's work. Weird how the human mind works huh? :-P

  • @torturedklown Yes, it is weird how the mind works.

  • @thesagebrushkid Goddess! I thought I was the only one who had ever done that.

  • thank you, i've been looking for this for so long.

  • Do u have the rankin bass return of the king soundtrack?! that would make u the emporer (your the king right now).

  • This is probably my favorite song of this soundtrack. That and greatest adventure.

  • I thought this soundtrack would have the action version of the greatest adventure, but I guess not... anyway, thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanx for this!!!

  • this is by far the best.

  • i love you for posting this.
