@Spielr1243 they knew about it since the original Super Mario Bros (NES). I think they did it so people can't just leav their controllers waiting there leveling them up until their level 100 (making the game easier).

Just take an elastic, put it on the side of the controller (so it holds one direction), and watch T.V. for about 30 minutes. by then you should have enough to get the secret code for the 1,000,000 you need :D

the game over happens because the counting sistem reach the maximux number of lives (99) and, when u get more one, the counter resets, turning you lives to 0

When you unlock flopside go to the charm shop. Go talk to merlee on her side of the crystal ball. Shell ask you to ask Merluvlee in Flipside for a crystal ball. Follow several more tasks to get the crystal ball. Then give merlee the crystal ball. She will give you the key to the locked house in Flopside. Find it then open the chest inside. Then Congratulations!

talk to merluvlee in flopside she will ask you to get her a new crytal ball, go back to flipside then speak with the clairvoyant in there then shi will ask you to ge to see the guy in level 1-2, go to level 1-1 then the guy will ask you to get something from mayor watsit in yold town,go to yold town in level 1-2, the mayor will ask you how to get an autograph in the ruins from 1-4, go there and reach to end, the girl will givo you autograph,give everyone what they want.

to get piccolo you have to go to flopside to that one magic chic go behind the counter and talk to her what you have to do is do countless favors and after the final favor go back to the person talk to her and she gives u a key the go down a floor in flopside after that flip and open up the loked door open the chest and you get piccolo.

This is my guess on that issue. Since this game was about paying homage to the older games (especially the first SMB), why not put in the Milking The Turtle trick? Seeing what it did in SMB, people thought they could be able to get mad experience. While Nintendo let's you play with the turtle a bit, allowing you to continously do it, would mean you could level up faster making the game way too easy. End results, start deducting points once you reach a certain limit.

I got Lvl 15 in chapter 1-4, I obvously repeated it too many time before going to chapter 2, the glitch if a lot better & doesnt go to negatives, and there are 3 or 4 shell things to hop on. I dont have the game anymore cuz I didnt like it, its not RPG as the other paper marios (too bad! lame!!) anyways, I thought the glitch was already discovered and on youtube, I guess it's not, at least my way.
