Please could someone answer because I also heard that noise when I was on a BA 747 from LHR to pheonix. As the pilot rotated I heard a bang and it felt as though someone had shunted the airplane from behind.
Love this take off, makes me feel onboard. AWESOME with the skidmarks from the crash, It's not everyday you see remains of a plane crash. thumbs up for this one!
@Yadi84 probably just a busy route so they stick a heavy on the route. i know for a fact (as i have done the route) that BA use 767 to fly to Paris once a day, as it is such a popular route.
@Yadi84 A few years ago, KLM used to bring a daily 767 into Heathrow. When the A330s were introduced to the fleet, they also came in once daily. Unfortunately, KLM wide-bodies at Heathrow are now a thing of the past and the majority of flights are operated by various types of the 737.
A heavy 747 needs plenty of concrete to get up to speed. Judging from the video it used about 2 thirds of the RWY to get airborne which is pretty normal for 747's at LHR :)
thats just the gears. on the ground ther flat and as thay lift of the hang on a slarnt. its just were they move. it happens on the a330 when i go on them.
i've flown in a 747 too and i heard this noise comming from below it might be the runway making vibrations in the plane (little bunp or something...), I don't know...
Remember going on this same flight back in 2006. The 747 takes ages to get going!

@TheMystaken that was the weight of the aircraft being taken off the wheel. that sound is quite common with 747s

anyone knows what a widebody KLM is doing at LHR?
Yadi84 3 years ago
well depending on demand, widebodies are the only option to accomodate high passenger numbers,
BA in the summer take a 767-300 to nice in france, from heathrow,
people obviously love amsterdamn on the time u took off

I've heard that for some odd reason an A330 is used for one of their daily services to AMS ...

@Yadi84 at one point they had 767s and later on A330s become a regular sight at Heathrow. It has since stopped.

I was thinking the same when I was taking off and it was quite scary, sounded like a shot or something not usual. Does anyone know?

Tail strike maybe?
Aerjas12 3 years ago
i think it may be the gears going up
britishairwayspilot1 3 years ago
@Yadi84 That sure sounds like a tail strike to me, but the angle doesn't look that steep to cause one.
