Needless to say, Jerry Lewis deserves a labor day off after the 59 years he's put in to raise money for a great cause!!!.......The MDA will always be around and as long as there are always great people with great hearts in the world by continuing to donate money to the MDA, I hope and pray that their will be a cure very soon for that awful disease, a long with cancer and HIV!!!

I feel as you do, but I hope you will continue to contribute to the efforts to solve neuromuscular diseases despite our disappointment with the way Mr. Lewis was unceremoniously dumped from the telethon. There are individual organizations for a number of the diseases that MDA also combats. You could choose one or more of them to contribute to. We must not stop helping the people who need it just because we are dissatisfied with MDA. I hope you'll consider this alternative. Thank you.

Consider some of the blatantly racial, homophobic, mean "jokes he's made over in recent years. I don't mean this derogatorily, but consider that he's 85 years old, and consider how often he's lost his place, or has seemed to not know what's going for several moments until the producers and directors remind him.

Could it be senility, or dementia, or perhaps even early stages of Alzheimers that forced the MDA to remove him from his position as Chairman and Host? To me, that would be logical.

Also, the format of the new telethon is horrible.I am watching this video at 6:10PM ET Whch is around the time Jerry SHOULD be singing "You never walk alone".This is how it should be. Labor Day, around 6:10PM ish the time that I wrote this comment is when Jerry should be singing it. But of course not, they ruined EVERYTHING.Shame on you MDA.

Wasn’t Jerry Lewis on the telethon at all 2011? He didn’t even sing You’ll never walk alone”? Did they explain why? Is it due to his age and health? Did they replace him with a tribute to him, that’s all?

Not what I would consider a telethon airing for only 6 hours. Jerry Lewis was the main drive for this annual event, now they have someone else in his place. I realize that Jerry is getting old, but he's not dead yet. I don't know what the pretensions were that led Jerry not to appear this year, but I know that it disappointed a lot of viewers.Jerry once said, that he would continue to host the annual event until he stop breathing. Was there even a tote board indicating how much money was raised?

I feel bad for Jerry and his kids. But Jerry was the one who made the show. The MDA had to cut it to 6 hours this year, and not even technically on Labor Day.

This is hard for me to say, but for the first time in many years, I will not watch...because it is simply not the same without him.

As much as it is a tragedy that the MDA decided to fire Jerry Lewis after 60 years of service, it is also a tragedy that the telethon was cut from 21 hours to 6. There is no doubt that the MDA will suffer drastically from this decision. The donations will no doubt be reduced and then they will realize what a big mistake they have made.

@worldtelethon Just an outrage that Jerry was tossed aside the way he was. I'm sure he wasn't the easiest person to deal with, but he was the #1 reason MDA was out front in donations year after year. They might have done well this year, but they will slip behind next year. They should have let Jerry do it for as long as he physically could because he deserved that much because of his passion over the years.
