I bought this movie because there was an action ($10 for 5 movies), and so I watched this first, the next day I downloaded the Korean version and I watched it 30 mins and stopped, because it's way too different from the "Hollywood" one. I also never watched an Asian movie before so that might make me not lik it.

I saw the orginal My Sassy Girl a few months back. This American remake (mind you I myself am a American) version doesn't look nearly as good. I was suprised to hear that there was a American remake and I was curious to see it until i saw the trailer. The actors themselves don't seem bad, I just think the story line comes off as a watered down version of the original.
This doesn't look as bad as I expected. It has a nice lil' indie feel to it. The storyline looks moderately different from the original, but it seems pretty fun.
American Hollywood Directors (as you say) are the best. Don't you get it? They've just seen that the asian version was good and that is why they made thier own. Aren't you just happy that some of the Asian movies pulled Hollywood's attention? I mean, it is really something to be proud of.
I can understand the logic "imitation is the best form of flattery," but to me I see it as American movie directors being more like copycats and not being "original." To me, it's more of an insult to the original My Sassy Girl. But *hopefully*, this will pique the interests of the American public to watch the original and increase awareness of Korean and other asian movies.

I liked the Korean version better. I think the reason why people enjoy the Korean version much more is because Asian people are more conservative than the Western people. You know, there is a a thing that you are waiting to happen, like a kiss, and it gets you excited unlike the Western ones where they kiss and have sex in just a couple of minute's time. I think thats the main reason about it because in the Korean version, they didn't even kiss. So I guess that's one of the reasons.

I am not only Asian, I am Korean. I was born in the states but I have lived there so I know how the people are, and how the culture reflects them, so the fact that you have "korean friends" is not a good representation of how real Koreans are because a lot of them are fake and THINK they know what culture really is. And if Korean movies are so "annoying" why is Hollywood stealing so many of their ideas?
u didn't grow up in korea. and u don't know my korean friends. they aren't fake. they grew up in korea, they can barely speak english! they just go to college here. they sure know their culture. it's not the MOVIE that was STOLEN, it's the story.

I've seen the korean. I loved it. I've seen the Indian one. I loved it. This one was just as great, but with an American twist. When a different person portrays a different character, you're going to get different results.
i am not being rude or boasting but i think the white people are very very polite and mannered. so when they do something rude, it seems quite strange to watch. but we asians are brought up that way. we can speak rudely where needed and it doesnt even look bad because we are used to it. so the KOREAN version is better and will always be because the girl has done every justice to her role and her rudeness was that was making us laugh. here in hollywood remake, the girl seems pretending to be rude
it's not a cultural thing...it's just that Hollywood can never do My Sassy Girl justice no matter who they get to act it. They just couldn't understand how a man could be in love with a woman after all she puts him through...and make it seem realistic and without ruining it with hollywood cliches and over-acting.

They always seem to miss the point (I'm not anti-US at all, I'm just an Asian American girl who dislikes adaptations that totally butcher the integrity of the original). hopefully this movie turns out okay, it probably wont compare to the original, but it'll probably have something unique to it.
I've something to say about the remake as it looks from the preview. It takes a drastically different turn from the original. looks as though in the remake, two adults with the brains of a pre-teen falls in the love; however, with a more formal glance to it. The fun may still be there but I think there may be a change in pure imagination unlike the original. it also makes me think of an encultured american film. I probably wouldn't watch it.

I'll try to give my own little review.
+1 for effort
+2 for actually getting some scenes right
-1 for not adding the original charm (uh, slapping scene anyone?)
+2 for that girl actor. While definitely not as good as Jeon Ji-hyeon, the American counterpart of her is, for the most part, good.
-1 for adding unnecessary scenes
Overall 3/10. I wasn't expecting miracles. Remakes are, in general, rather bad. Especially foreign remakes so I'm not really surprised. I'm surprised it got higher then a 2

Hey Dafneec, I watched Shutter and One Missed Call first before the original. Didn't even got scared, laugh at a few parts instead. Watched the original, tripped me out. See, even if I have seen the remake first, and then the original, it something. Original rules!

WOW....and soooo not in a good way. I hate these American adaptations of Asian movies. They always seem to miss the point (I'm not anti-US at all, I'm just an Asian American girl who dislikes adaptations that totally butcher the integrity of the original). A lot of the comedy in the Korean movie was in the delivery, and from the looks of this trailer, this movie misses that BIG time.

you know let's give this remake a chance. who knows it might discover and relive moments we shared with the original. I am a fan of the original and as a fan i am happy that hollywood did a remake of this movie for a wider audience to appreciate. This is also a way of marketing ASIAN MOVIES to the world and recognizing it ASIAN FILM as cinema at its best.
of course, the original still the best, but it's too immature to judge the movie without even seeing it in full.

Think of Internal Affairs (aka The Departed). Hollywood didn't even give appropriate credits to Hong Kong, saying it was a Japanese remake. Geez..do your research.

I'm definitely going to watch this! the original is my big, big favorite! so I'm gonna watch this to see what variations they made.I could love it or hate it but 1thing for sure s that I'm happy they made a remake. It feels good to know that a fave movie of yours is being commemorated. Don't worry folks,the original is IRREPLACEABLE! This remake is NOT a THREAT! I've something to say about the remake as it looks from the preview. It takes a drastically different turn from the original. looks as though in the remake, two adults with the brains of a pre-teen falls in the love; however, with a more formal glance to it. The fun may still be there but I think there may be a change in pure imagination unlike the original. it also makes me think of an encultured american film. I probably wouldn't watch it.
