Muddy, passed and then Thorogood tried to get Bo Diddley to record it and he passed, so George recorded it himself. Bad to the Bone is somewhat a retelling of this song or at least in the same spirit. "I'm a Man" by Bo Diddley and "Hoochie Coochie Man" by Muddy are all earlier versions of the the same concept. It still packs a punch after almost 60 years since it was recorded.
