Also, my hate of this game doesn't lie with the health bars (though I'm not a big fan of the voice acting). Rather, the controls always feel super-sensitive and slippery. I find myself falling for cheap deaths by going too fast.

What I will say about Heroes.

While I hate the ACTUAL Special Stages, the system for attaining them is very lenient.

You can attain ALL 7 Chaos Emeralds using all 4 teams.

If you miss a Chaos Emerald with Team Sonic, you can try it again with Team Rose, or Team Dark, etc.

Fun fact: Sonic can kill the turtles too. If you perform a tornado attack over them, that will turn the turtles over. Then you can attack their undersides, which are not armored.

Actually, when I first played the game, I thought that was the only way to kill them. ^^

The level 3 wind homing attack thing is not a glitch, it's intentional. You can also homing attack into the spinning vertical poles and save some time. The tornado attack looks neat, but it actually takes a bit of time, y'see.

I don't like this game because of the horrible controls.

Somehow people don't notice that sonic can't turn a corner smoothly, you have to use the light dash other wise sonic runs diagonally into a wall. If you're touching the analog stick even slightly when you land on a platform from a height, sonic will run like a maniac over a cliff. And trying to switch rails instead flings you into the air over the seven rails beside you and into a pit on the other side.

And then the voice acting...ugh.

@Aizen9 That's why I would always switch to the power and flight types when I get into situations like running on steep turrain. I guess the reason Sonic moves so fast in this game is because of the fact that he's speed type while power and flight move slower and is more balanced. The way the controls work make sense in Sonic Heroes, HOWEVER, it doesn't make sense in Shadow the Hedgehog. Why use the Sonic Heroes engine when we're playing as only one character?

Actually you can kill the turtles with Sonic. Though it is a wee bit time-consuming. You basically tornado them, then home attack them.

HOWEVER, if you have Sonic at level three than he can rip through them with no problem or slow down.

I too think that people didn't start hating this game until AFTER Shadow and 06 hit. Because most of the problems those two games had originated from Heroes. Before Sonic Colors, Sonic Heroes was the last Sonic game to capture the "Sonic" spirit. It was bright, colorful, and had a rocking soundtrack. Sonic Unleashed was different, but still kinda good. The Werehog destroyed any good graces the game had, and I see it as another mediocre chapter in the franchise.

Sonic Heroes has it's issues, but it's not a terrible game.

O.O how the hell did you get the chaos emerald using techniques like that? there are much easier ways to get them. Use power formation and HOLD the boost button....you can get pretty much any of the emeralds within 10 to 15 seconds. All emeralds become RIDICULOUSLY easy....yes it took me years to work this out.....yes i only managed to get the first few emeralds before knowing this....

I personally think the turning point for Sonic was Sonic Adventure. Yes the Adventure games are good but if it wasn't for them Sonic may not of been in towns with humans and the other characters may of had simular gameplay to Sonic. Also Sonic 06 may not of existed.

I do like the newer games, don't get me wrong! With games like Sonic Heroes, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Unleashed you can forget about the negatives because the positives are soo great!

On the problems with Sonic Heroes, my major criticism of this game is what it did to the characters. Knuckles wasn't a strong guy who could glide and climb walls, he was just a power-type character, and played exactly the same as Omega. Amy wasn't a tricky, somewhat acrobatic character, she was a speed-type character, same as Sonic and Shadow. I actually might have enjoyed playing through the same 14 levels 4 times if the characters had their own abilities instead of being butchered into roles.

The section at 13:10 is really hard if you don't have a leveled up Speed character.

Also, the levels are the same, but depending on the team, they change difficulty. For instance, Team Sonic and Team Dark have to through that lava pit, where as Team Rose and Team Chhaotix don't.

Actually,you go to the Special Stage if you get the Special Key and manage to not lose a life("die"in games for me is a game over).
