OMG, how can you have only watched the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy!?!?!? Star Wars (1977) is one of THE most historic moments in cinema! Empire Strikes Back is by far the best one, Attack of the Clones is awful - the worst of the six!
@MohanSandhu This is quite an old video. Sorry for the confusion, we were much more amateur back then. You are absolutely right that 180 is normally used, but it doesn't necessarily make it look more like film. You can sometimes get away with a slightly faster or slower shutter. We often use 1/60 in fluorescent lighting situations to avoid strobing. And sometimes it's more valuable to shoot at 1/24 or 1/30 in lowlight scenes.
you guys look really serious. I think you guys should put some happiness into your new videos. Loosen up your tension. Relax. I like your video. It really help me out for my film class. You have great ideas! Thanks.
The dude in the green shirt always looks like he's right on the precipice of scared-shitless. The other guy seems like one of those condescending-in-a-round-about-way types. I think green-shirt guy is moderately intimidated by condescending guy and/or secretly thinks he can be a real douchebag. hahaaaaa

you are so amateurs your vids are so boring make another video style i hate when someone in video stay still and talking and dont moving its like robot I HATE THAT...
dude this is not indy mogul....indy mogul concentrates more on being silly rather than actual info....there guys concentrate just on info, sometimes more advanced....not to say indy mogul is stupid because i love them they are awesome but getting the info is sometimes more important than being entertained.
Useful tips, but honestly there has to be a less boring way to convey this information. Maybe you could take a page from your own book and learn to edit more cleverly to make your episodes more entertaining.

U guys are some nerdy fags but u do know ur shit, lets get laid guys and try non-fiction for once. Let me ask u though, u say 1/24 shutter is the best but on my dvx 100b 1/60 seems to look the best and most filmic, the intructional booklet sais to use 1/60 aswell when shooting 24p, whats ur take on that?
Yeah, usually. I'm sure you can somewhat do it in post, but I doubt it will look as good. At the most, we usually blend/transition the two shots together.
The only good thing about the second was Jango Fett... ep3 was awesome. And wow i always have my camera on Auto. Guess i better work on my camera skills.
I think the new harry potter is the best so far i have read the books for some time now. With star wars like many others my favorite is the empire strikes back. But any way I have a new video of my own up at the moment.
cool tips however I disagree the third harry potter was the worst. and how can you like the second star wars the production was so bad and don't get me started on the acting. But keep up the good work.
lol i thought they were acting serious just because it was their style of acting

Surely to get the most film like look you should shoot at roughly 1/48th (due to the 180 degree shutter normally used in a film camera)?

the voice reminds me of the one of a rapist.. no offence...
but it wouldn't have made me wonder 0:34 if he had said (at 0:34) "i'm shawn and I am going to rape rape you."
Because of this monotone, soft, calm, serious voice...
btw: nice tipps... am going to consider them...

Thanks! I think we've improved some since then (this was shot over 2 years ago now). Check out our website, lots of new stuff! :)

My money is on the guy on the left of the shot having the better career. Modesty reeps the greater rewards. Guy on right would annoy a film crew.

hey in the begginging what effect is it called when you move from one thing to another w/o cutting but making it move really fast
Texas93 4 years ago
Oh, it's actually a cut. You just move it really fast at the end of the first shot and at the beginning of the next. It's called a whip-pan :)
esotericsean 4 years ago
ok so technically its more of an effect you do while making the video before you go into effects

I believe the acting in Star Wars was totally intentional (it's a space opera, for starters).
You don't care for Alfonso Cuarón, eh? Which is your favorite?

Is there a way to control the aperature??
Tinman1118 4 years ago
Depends on the camera, but usually even low end cameras have some aperture control. Adjusting the exposure, iris, or aperture are all the same thing.
esotericsean 4 years ago
Learned a lot from this one guys.
