Oh my god, I love you, I was looking into these speakers, and Red by laid blak is one of my favorite songs... lmfao... My eyes are red, i've been burning, i've been burning.
Does it get distorted running them off the sax 100.4, I have the same amp and I'm thinking about getting these speakers gotta have something loud to keep up with 2 18" HDC3s. Is there any distortion? How do you have your gains set?
@dangerous10k Honestly, after them breaking in, there is. Even just off of channels 1&2. I just set the gains by ear, I could just be sending too much power to them, MOST probably the case.
@bigtutt256 That's a tough call. I didn't tune the Carbons to their full potential, i didn't take the time to learn how properly and so i never really got the full effect of them (i don't believe). So for simplicity and volume, i like these better. As far as watching the speakers, nothing compared to the carbons on excursion on my front stage!
@TheMrRaja The sundown is a beast of an amp. Zed has a group buy going on right now if you're on SSA.com. Also, Crescendo has some of their 100.4 amps for sale still. All sorts of options out there.
@thecrxbeats Yeah I think that one gets hot and it acts up. Like a popping noise and it will shut off, then I turn it up and it turns back on. I dont know.
@nextrider123 ported/sealed isn't going to change how the spiders act, that's how you tune your amp's gain and filter setting. Only way spiders are going to get damaged is from over excursion, which isn't an issue here. If anything a ported box would have more potential to rip a spider from playing a note under the box's tune. Of course there are other factors that go into this, but this 12 being in a sealed box has no worries about damage unless i throw too much power at it :)
@kevinamayne This is just temporary, i may sell a couple in a few months. If i do ill post a video stating im doing so. But i plan to use all 4 for a little while longer.
