Thank you so much for this most romantic and sumptuous ballad. It's evergreen. It will never sound out of date. Debarge's high notes remind me young Kate Bush's voice. My other favourite version of this song is by the Queen of Ballads, Nancy Wilson. Nancy Wilson's vesion of this is more dramatically beautiful and so moving and emotional in the way she phrases the lyrics.
If there is anyone out there who knows all the lyrics to this very beautiful song I would really love to have the lyrics. Layjay2cute I am a singer and would love to be able to sing this song one day for my neice who may be getting married in a couple of years. I wish that the music industry would bring back the old music and get rid of a lot of the new stuff because it has been very degrading for all women. Let's bring back the music that allowed a man to serenade his women the right way.
I love this song. I had the album back in 82/83. I still sing it at weddings, but I havent heard the original in more than 20 yrs. I thought I never would. Thanks for the song and the memories. Much luv Bunny!
man this is like frigging schmaltz melodrama supreme turned high art, with absolute straight face due to true, mad skills. much like bette davis' Now Voyager!
i wish this group would come back and make songs like this again! everybody loved this group. they would play debarge at a pep rally and it would be over lol. i miss those days.
Before Mariah Carey and other female R&B artists, there was Bunny DeBarge. Probably one of the best angelic voice I've ever heard. It's sad she never reached Whitney Houston status since they came out around the same time.
I played this song to death when I was a teenager. Bunny had such a great voice and even today, I'll sill remember all the lyrics to this song. Thanks a million to the one who put this song on youtube.
yeltto65 Probably the most angelic voice I've ever heard. It's sad she never reached Whitney Houston status since they came out around the same time. Before Mariah Carey and other current female R&B artists there was Bunny DeBarge.
This fact is just straight crazy. I mean, when they signed them over, did they not realize what they were doing? I mean they get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in royalities from everyone who samples their music? They also wrote the majority of their songs, so they get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for that also? It makes no sense.
I used to think DeBarge was nothing more than "Rhythm of the night". Then I saw their story on Unsung on TVOne, and I could not have been more wrong. DeBarge are the truth and the light
Wow...I love this song:) I thought I was the only one that remember this awesome tune. I sung this in my sister wedding. Did not realize how high it was...LOL!
@lajay2cute Nope this is my favorite song in the world!!!!! I sung this to my Husband at our Wedding Dinner, Recital Whatever it's called !!! Awesome moment
i agree.i have been looking for this for so long.i was just 15 or so when it was released.the label should have made it a single...too bad motown it would have been a gold single!!
I agree, this song should have been released as a single. It probably wouldn't have been a Top Ten hit on the "Black Singles Chart" (as it was called back in '82, lol) but it would have most definitely been a HUGE pop hit. I love her voice and the quivers and shakeyness of it..very unique...:)
I have the 33 rpm of this. Bunny has the highest voice of anyone I can think of. Play this on 45 rpm and her voice sounds the same on that speed, just faster.
DeBarge gave the greatest gift anyone could ever have given.. the ability to write songs that convened the power of love for us to enjoy and to share that with someone else in our lives. It's too bad the crack wars and gang culture has infested our music with it's emphasis on violence, hate, and sexual perversity and lack of compassion for our fellow man. I don't have the answers but maybe more exposure to beauty will help our children regain their innocence from a cruel world.
Hey everybody, when you see a "Comment Pending" next to your comment, there's no need to post multiple times. I have it set up this way because I review all of posts to weed out spam. Thanks.
Bunny has such an "Angelic" voice. She brings a tear to my eye when she sings, just like her brother Bobby. If you ever listen to Bobby sing "You and I" when he was with the group switch, you'd see why I cry.
This was one of many DeBarge songs that I loved. I used to hit that note myself....notice I said used to, lol! That was over 20 yrs ago and I had the fresh teen vocals.
Thank you for posting. My mother used to play this album back to front and front to back,LOL. She loved this song, and her and my sister used to try and compete to see who could hit the note at the end!
I loved this album and this song. My dad played this record all the way through without lifting that needle handle. lol He just flipped the record over and kept it moving. Debarge was one of the best back in those days. Memories!
My, My, My....this song brings back more memories than pictures ever could. Life was good then. Thank you much for posting this song. It embodies some of the best times of my life.
I am SO with you on this...I love listening to these songs and feeling the nostalgia from then...is it just me or is the r&b music just not as gorgeous for today's generation? Regardless of what that poor family has gone through over decades, they sure knew how to craft great songs and somehow manage to bring great joy to others in their writing.
I wish they re-release this album on cd an special edition or anniversary I can't stop loving this track this song was a struggle to find and download. I really want this CD. This song is like the first A Dream part 1
I have been wondering the same thing. This LP has been OOP so long, yet the demand is high as ever. Whenever they do a best of CD, they only put "I Like It" and "All This Love" on there. They never even consider the other songs.
She wrote and co-wrote so much wonderful,i mean she was the level of a Patice Rushen. Well at least she still gets royalties, i would love to hear some of her new works. We need more pure songs like this. Her voice was so high for a second i thought it was Denise Williams.
This song is so beautiful, I cry every time I hear it
