I'm pretty sure Joel Osteen hasn't read the Bible, particularly the New Testament such as the Cornelius story in Acts 10, where Peter is told specifically in vers 15 where God Himself tells Peter, "What God has made clean, do not call common." Also Jesus in mark 7:19 "declared all foods clean." The Old Testament laws existed to emphasize our inability to keep all of them. Joel Osteen, quite simply, is wrong.

after watching this video i don't see how any one can eat any meat products produced in the United States. The way those cows are treated i'm pretty sure they arent eating fesh grass. Wow coming from Joel Osteen!! Ive always thought that his sermons are feel good to the surface type of message but this is awesome and eye awakening. This is what we need teaching straight from the Bible. We invent so many diets fads but the true proven diet says it all on the Bible and its all in there what we should eat or not eat but we are stubborn we still eat what we are suppose to eat. @ihatekhomeini As far as I know the Law was written for Jewish People. When you become Christians you do not become Jewish. I believe there was debate over whether a new christian had to become circumsized in the new testament and the answer was no. Christians do not live under the law we live under Grace. No man can fullfilll all of the law. The law shows us how helpless we are without Christ. Grace does not mean we can go out and do whatever we want, but thank God we are not under the law.
@flatpicker1234 The law was written for the jews, but it was a law from god, and Jesus quoted Leviticus so that must mean something. These ideas you have of grace and that no man can follow all the laws are modern ideas. Jesus never said these things, and if you were to follow his teachings you should know that he himself respected those laws, and preached them.

Today most people, I would presume 99% of Christians, don't care about the religion, they view it as a social part of their life, they go to church (if they even do that) for the social aspect of it, and say they are christian because they fear hell and are raised in it. @ihatekhomeini You can't pick and choose what parts of the law you want to keep and which ones you don't. Study the New Testament on what Paul says about the Law. I believe Paul new the Law better than any other Apostle. I do not view Christianity as a social part of my life though I do have great friends where I worship. I don't really consider anything the word of god, because our understanding of god is mediated through language and interpretation, which can never reveal the truth completely. We are not supposed to fully understand god, and specially not on our finite time on earth, there is infinite time to understand.

I'm pretty sure Joel Osteen hasn't read the Bible, particularly the New Testament such as the Cornelius story in Acts 10, where Peter is told specifically in vers 15 where God Himself tells Peter, "What God has made clean, do not call common." Also Jesus in mark 7:19 "declared all foods clean." The Old Testament laws existed to emphasize our inability to keep all of them. Joel Osteen, quite simply, is wrong.

after watching this video i don't see how any one can eat any meat products produced in the United States. The way those cows are treated i'm pretty sure they arent eating fesh grass. And as for his comment on why they didn't eat pork back in the 'bibal days', quite a fair bit has changed since then. A lot of fish are scavengers too. Also, the pigs and lobsters we eat (and ppl ate back then) were mostly farmed. Farm pigs don't eat garbage, their diet is carefully chosen and consists of beneficial nutrients. Wow coming from Joel Osteen!! Ive always thought that his sermons are feel good to the surface type of message but this is awesome and eye awakening. This is what we need teaching straight from the Bible. We invent so many diets fads but the true proven diet says it all on the Bible and its all in there what we should eat or not eat but we are stubborn we still eat what we are suppose to eat. The reason not to eat Pork, is because (PIGS) are a scavenger type / class organism. The pig does not sweat, that's why it rolls around in the mud, etc.. The body of a pig stores it's toxins in their fat. The meat is not meant for human consumption; and people have known about it for a very long time. It just so happens; some people will do anything to make a buck. Human consumption, can have varied ill effects on different people. I'm a Christian. Don't confuse truth, with organized doctrines.

@ihatekhomeini As far as I know the Law was written for Jewish People. When you become Christians you do not become Jewish. I believe there was debate over whether a new christian had to become circumsized in the new testament and the answer was no. Christians do not live under the law we live under Grace. No man can fullfilll all of the law. The law shows us how helpless we are without Christ. Grace does not mean we can go out and do whatever we want, but thank God we are not under the law.

These ideas you have of grace and that no man can follow all the laws are modern ideas. Jesus never said these things, and if you were to follow his teachings you should know that he himself respected those laws, and preached them.

@flatpicker1234 My opinion does not matter, it's the bible and the words of Jesus that should matter to a christian, not his own customs or the words of his priest(s). Today most people, I would presume 99% of Christians, don't care about the religion, they view it as a social part of their life, they go to church (if they even do that) for the social aspect of it, and say they are christian because they fear hell and are raised in it. They don't care about what their religion demands.

I believe Paul new the Law better than any other Apostle. I do not view Christianity as a social part of my life though I do have great friends where I worship. @chicagolowe So you are saying that we are to live by the Law ? Do you believe people should be stoned to death ? Christ came to fullfill the law. You can't say you must accept christ but that's not good enough, you must also keep the law. Christ is the only way to get to heaven. If you are convicted over eating pork then don't do it. You will not go to hell becaue you do. I believe the only way to get to heaven is through Christ. Not partly Christ and some of the law.

no he didn't create unclean things, all created animals had a purpose. sin brought in death and man started eating meat after the flood, He told us which were clean and which weren't. would you eat your bowel movements? most animals, seafood and other unclean animals are the natural waste disposals, don't eat it. It makes sense when you look at it logically as well as physically.

@KnightTemplari The Old Testament is the foundation for the New Testament.If they are not in harmony,then it is a book of confusion.The reason God told us not to eat pork is because we must have a clean body and mind to attian our potential Title which is Christ Consciousness.If there is a Scripture in the Bible that contradicts another One,it is because 1 is to be taken literally and 1 is not.Most teachers of the Bible don't teach this because they are tools to decieve the masses.

@arnibah I appreciate you brought this up.There are many errors made by Christians in dealing with OT. You have to keep in mind that it is God dealing with Jews or vice versa. Although not specifically exposed in the Bible is Mosaic Law. Many Christians are totally unaware as to it's application when used in OT and in NT.As gentiles, they are not under MosaicLaw; however, they are under God's law implied in Biblical doctrine. It be sometime to explain it all, but take your time in studying,.

@KnightTemplari Moses didn't make up what we call Mosaic Law.It is God's Law,given to Moses to teach to the Jews.According to the Bible,God is a God that changes not.The Law He gave Moses is designed to teach the people the 1st steps we must take in coming into our Godhood.What Jesus brought was a Higher expression of this.After the Jews successfully completed these lessons,they were to take it to the Gentiles.This is what they were Chosen for.So the Gentiles had to go through the same school.
