here is recipe for about 50 to 80 additional horsepower with fuel savings. you need to know how to weld aluminum or steel, and you need a mandrel bender. make a multi planar intake with valves from a taurus or bmw. use Megasquirt II ECU to control intake planes and injectors and everything else.
or you could just not get an engine with dual overhead cams, anyone whos ever tried to work on an engine with those things will agree with me when i say they suck
@reap62 i think your a fucking dumb ass dohc is so much better than ohv makes way more power and way smoother power band take a look at the evo motor a 1/4 of the size of a ls1 and makes more power dohc is much better
well apparently your the fucking dumb ass because you didnt realize that i was talking about working on them, like i explained in my comment, they do do their job very well if you know how to work on them but i think that they suck to work on and if i ever get a car with dohc im paying someone to tune them for me
that motor is a piece of shit for it's complexity. fuck that shit. I bet you regret ever trying to work on it. blame the fucking assholes who designed it and sold it.

i do have to say im a fan of ohv motors just cuz of the ease of maintenance. but the dohcs and quad cams.. way more performance.

I rebuilt a 3.4 once. Pain in the ass. I made the mistake of timing both sides at once without turning the motor over. DOHC is tricky.
