  • I FUCKING DREAD PRESENTATIONS. There's nothing I hate more in this world is having to do a presentation. Even if it's in front of a small group of people.

  • Heyy, you look really nice and something about your attitude reminds me of Hagrid from Harry Potter in a good way

  • i love taking Vilift, made me feel calm and relax. i never thought it will work for me but it did.

  • I feel for ya dude. But its not the end of the world by a long shot. You can overcome it, It might be painfull but overcoming fears always are.

Couldn't you try some sort of controlled exposure therapies? As with people with other phobias?

  • Good luck from someone with SAD.

  • hope you do well good luck

  • fuck man, im the same way with presentations

  • I do the same thing. If I have to present I'll either not show up or say I don't have it. I'd rather take a 0 than present something. I also talk quiet on camera when I know someone's outside my door.

  • i've been in your spot before doing a presentation. i can tell you the moments all the way up to the very second i had to present was one of the worst experiences, but i dove into it and only went along because it was absulutely necessary. as a result it was not nearly as bad as i could have imagined. infact once i got going on the presentation i began to enjoy it. as a result, i was up there for too long and lost points to my grade!

  • I must have what you have, and its really really horrible. Ive got a big 10minute presentation to perform infront of my 12person tutor group in 2weeks and I cant describe the level of dread i feel

I know the usual thing of everone gets nervous but I know no one gets as short of breath and such an intense heart beat rate as me.

All imm guessing I can do is take it really slow until i settle into it, and try not to look to strange while taking massive pauses between sentences.

  • Yeah, SA is really horrible to have with some situations. Presentations is definitely one of them. How familiar with Social Anxiety Disorder are you? I can point you to a website or two to help you figure out if you really do or not.

  • Yeah ive had councelling and leaflets thrust upon me (neither worked) so im pretty well acquainted with it as well as gag- generalised anxiety disorder. Thing is if u met me u probably would never guess, I hide it very well. I would appreciate the websites though.

Its good o hear you did your presentation ok in the end, well done mate

  • One time I did a book report in freshman english class in 06. I did my book report on a small posterboard, and I had words written on the back of the posterboard so i could read through it. The problem was, I read it word by word and didnt bother to say things in my own words. Since then, I have never done worse than that.

I was holding the poster board, my hands started to shake which caused the board to shake too! And it was very noticable. That book report was a train wreck for me.

  • Yeah, I just force myself. On one presentation for class, I spead up the powerpoint slides so I could get through it faster. lol. It ended up being too fast! I had to play it off. Everyone was laughing. I just made a joke out of it. I got though it though.

  • with SA I hate having it as well, speeches can be hard, the feeling is so intense, I wish you well,

  • i know what you're going through, i have to deal with even worse situation every day how painful and long lasting effect every bad social interaction has on me...

  • hey your not alone, today i had to pass on a presentation because i felt like i was going to pass out. man its tough, i mean you count the seconds untill its your turn and then its do or do not and today i chose to do not. hang in there bro its all about small steps:)

  • hey man,

Well done for talking in front of potentially millions on camera, you need to congratulate yourself for that.

I know exactly where you are coming from man, I had SA all of my life and I have found a way out of the hell hole! at 25 years old, life is great now!

Feel free to chat to me any time dude.

    well done again.

    Steve

  • Hey man,

I know exactly what you are feeling, i had really bad SA most of my life, but there is a way out and at 25 now, life is great now!!!

    Great video man.

    Steve

  • Just curious about what exactly got you out of the hole...

  • I don't have SA disorder, but I always hated doing "presentations" in class. Just let me get the shit done on my own time and hand it in, you know?

  • I feel I have a problem similar to yours. What I teach myself is that it's all just a controllable state of mind. It's about loosening yourself. Instead of thinking about how you should word something using specific words, word for word. Keep a warm positive mind set in while talking, and smoother speech will come out. Nervousness comes naturally. Don't be worried about everyones opinions, you stand for your own. One can't interest everyone. Try taking meditation for consideration, it helps me.

  • I really feel for you. Although it might not seem like it ,everybody feels shy or intimidated in social situations, even the loud and annoying people. I know it can be really difficult especially doing presentations, just remember people actually WANT you to do well because to listen to somebody at ease puts them at ease. I wish you all the best in life and take it easy.

  • Thanks!

I try my best to keep that in mind about how people aren't sitting there chanting "Screw up" to themselves, but it can be very easy for SA to overcome those of us who suffer from it. Occasionally though, like when I actually did the presentation, it ends up not being nearly as bad as I imagine.

  • You are so incredibly cute.

  • Heh thanks! =)

  • You're welcome ;)

  • Good to see you're still hanging in there. I was wondering when you were gonna post another video. I haven't done one in a while either. I've sat down with my camera a couple of times in the past week or two but I can't seem to force myself to push the record button. Also, since I've started this new job I haven't had enough alone time to actually make a video. Just like Chris (ConciousCloud) I can't make videos when there are other people in the house. Anyway, Good luck on the presentation.

  • Good job on the video. If there was anyone outside my room or even upstairs, there's no way I could do a video. But oh man, my heart jumped when I heard you have, or maybe already had to do a presentation. I have SA too and actually have 2 presentations to give before the semester's over. A group pres. in one class and and exit review pres. at the end of the semester since I'm graduating. Anyway, I REALLY hope all goes well. Take care.

  • Thank you for sharing your video.

I'd like to know if you are in some recovery process?

  • No, I'm not in any official recovery processes currently. There are some things I've been trying myself to help with my SA, but I'm not sure if its anything you mean.
