"Another word hijacked by Hippies and Liberals." She was a female, British Archie Bunker. Ironic statement, as the template for the Archie Bunker we know was a character from a British show. In any case, Blanche and Maggie were hilarious!!!! The A A scene was a crack up. I don't know HOW the extras got through it without laughing themselves silly!
Maggy Jones was an absolute breath of fresh air and creative writing for Coronation street. When it was announced she had passed away, I cried as if I had lost my own Gran. Maggy as Blanch Hunt brought such joy and pleasure to Corry with her dry witt, black humor and excellently timed deliveries of her lines. I cannot imagine how the cast were able to hold it together in those serious scenes, where her face alone had you holding your sides and rolling in the isles. We will miss you deeply Mags!!
"she managed to keep the flag flying for politically incorrect jokes." lol What a share....Thank you so much Jim for sharing this glimpse into this great series.
Blanche - Down to Earth, not afraid to call a spade a spade, brutally honest (normally taking pleasure in the brutality rather than the honesty) and downright old fashioned in every sense of the word. I don't watch 'The Street' today, but its characters like Blanche made it bareable to watch! R.I.P Maggie Jones

@b1990jamin i think 3rd may 2010 is when the barlows hear of her death, you dont see her die in the programme cos she had already died in real life.
