when Elphaba speaks it's like Idina but when sings it's different so it's kinda hard to know. but since this is less than a month of the London production, am guessing it is indeed Idina. although is there a matinee show? matinees are usually done by the understudies so the lead cast will be prepared for the gala show.
there is an understudy for Elphie btw, Cassidy Janson.
it is, its the stand in for glinda, annalene beechey. Yes she does have an english accent but don't be fooled, we don't all talk like that lol. I certainly don't
it's kinda funny actually. Annalene was belle in beauty and the beast and then she was glinda and Dianne pilkington was belle after Annalene and now she is Glinda!
Sounds a bit like Julia Murney...? The beginning sounds nothing like Idina, but because the music's a little loud, the rest sounds like a generic Elphie really.
This can't be Sona, or Julia or anyone other than Idina Menzel, for the very fact that it's not Kerry Ellis, or Alexia Khadime, and those are the only other two to have played elphapa in London.
I don't even remember typing that comment above, but I think I was trying to explain why it might not sound like Idina... I know it is her and can only be her. Still loving this performance, BTW! Superb!
how can you say idina sang this terribly?? weird. anyway, annalene was a fantastic glinda. i saw her and i swear, she deserved the leading role just as much as helen. these two sound really good together
Just because she doesn't play it like she always does or just like ALL the other Elphabas doesn't mean it's not good. Her voice is awesome and I'm so glad there's a London recording WITHOUT the horrible croaking and overacting of Dallimore! If you think Beechey needs help on the funny, you should hear Dallimore! I never heard anyone get so few laughs on Glinda's lines (except from the obviously overexcited Wicked fans)
I do like Annalene, I just think she needs some help on the funny lines....Obviously, Glinda is the funniest character with the best lines, and I heard some clips and she wasn't delivering the lines as funny as they could have been...if that makes sense
omg... this is idina singing... i didn't recogonize her.. she must have been getting like pretty sick because that doesn't sound like her... i'm confused haha.
Okay, but I prefer it when it's more a forceful imperative than just screeched in Glinda's face. Especially at this point as she's meant to be saying goodbye, not getting angry.
I think it fits in a lot better with the tormented and agitated state of mind Elphaba is in at the end of the book (and kinda the 'wickedness' from the Judy Garland film version). Her acting definitely improved I think from the clips I've seen/heard on youtube of Broadway and West End.
What date Annalene start and stop being glinda ?
was she just an understudy?
Because i thought helen was the only one who prefromed with idina in london?

yes i know, i was a little hystiric when i wrote that. what i really meant was:
that Elphaba sounds not like Idina Menzel in the beginning. Only when she sings.
But wonderful shot!

Annalene Beechey is amazing, my second favourite Glinda, Helen is first. ;)

I think that this is Idina. The orchestra is too overbearing and is too up tempo.

I see anyway I think Idina must've been really sick, maybe that's why. She sang this pretty terribly, though Annalene made up for it.
