This was actually pretty good for a post-Schulz Peanuts special (this was written and gone through pre-production back when Schulz was alive, though.) I do like how David Benoit brought back a bunch of the really old Vince Guaraldi music pieces from the 1960s Peanuts specials (usually the post-Guaraldi specials just featured "Linus and Lucy")

It appears that Sally was so fed up with Snoopy in the cold opening, that during the credits, she had him killed, taxidermied and made into a backpack thus explaining the mysterious creature on her back in the beginning. Weird
