  • You know what? The poor sound quality actually fits Neil Youngs song rather well. For me it sounds like an extra guitarr with that beautiful barbwire-gritty-sound that Neil has :-) Just listen how great the guitarr-sound is on the live album "Weld", God dang, thats some barbwire-sound!! Neil Yong, NEVER stop playing music - keep on rocki´n!!!

  • To borrow a quote from Neil Young Nation: He's fifty feet tall and made out of Pure Gold.

  • Amazing, a civil comments thread on Youtube, all hail the power of Neil Young.

  • What a great tune

    regards

  • The guitar in this is freaking mind bending.................

  • @EvangelineEvangeline Thanks even with bad acoustics I like it a lot. Did you see Neil a year later at Hyde Park .. why did he get all obsessive and sounded bad (to me) with Down by the River and everything he did. I didn't get it. Worst version of Down by the River I ever heard and Neil was being watched by the world and others must have been confused. I guess.

  • @11xzxzxz

Agreed, 'even with the bad acoustics,' Neil seems to be playing above it all, including the ongoing conversation(s) which must have been pretty important, at least until they stopped long enough to sing along with "Words," then right back to talking "words," missing a brilliant performance of a timeless song.

    Peace.

  • @rockinroller7 As jesus said, "who are you to me, (you) mother?" HA. Nice observation. Talking with Words during a song Words. When will they ever learn? (southern man your crosses are burning fast). Really getting into this song. Never to late.

  • @11xzxzxz

Ahhh, as usual, your play on 'words,' is 'on the beach.'

But given the seemingly 'young,' age of those talking, perhaps, 'one of these days,' they'll be, 'ready for the country.'

    Peace.

  • @rockinroller7 It's "pay" on works; I want the money, not words. When these young stiffs (they are children when black is burned) are talking in rhymes on the losing end their words and bodies will be running dry and no requiem for there half-mask rockets they have all winter-long; long may you run was just was short trip to Tulsa.

  • @11xzxzxz Whoaaa!

Can't come close, except to ask, "what is the color, when black is burned?"

    "Hey hey, my my."

    Peace.

  • @rockinroller7 OH you could come close or tie or better if you took a couple of minutes to think about Neil's songs. I just have too much time on my hand and I shouldn't have really tried to one-up you if that is what the effects looks like.

  • @11xzxzxz

The problem is, there are too many Neil songs, and I don't take it as a 'one up,' at all.

    Just great word play.

    Peace.

  • @rockinroller7 Back at you. Also, what are your top 5 Neil songs, or your favorite CD by him or is it hard to say which? The later is harder than the former questions for me. Also, I asked you not so long ago what Replacement's songs are your favorite and I got the feeling you are not really into them which is cool. I just know from "Let it Be" to "Don't Tell a Soul" my head, heart were turned around as when I heard Buf Sprinfield Again (not Last time around when Neil's head is turned..)

  • @11xzxzxz I've been mulling over your question about the top 5 Neil songs and CD. Seems that, "Good to see You," "One Of these Days," Hard Luck Stories," -(from "Landing On Water,") "I Am A Child," and "Pocohontas," have always beeh "with me," but The CD, with the movie, "Rusts Never Sleeps," became an amalgamation of all he's done (for me) in his music up to that point and to this time, which means, I may pick 5 other songs, "Truth Be Known," a week from now if you asked.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 Thanks for the 5. I like "Good to" & more so One of These Days/ & esp. "I am a Child". I don't like Pocahontas. I can't find a cover of Hard Luck Stories by Neil. But I looked at the lyrics and ha I know why you favor that song so much. Yeah the Movie Rust Never Steeps" was great as it gave you more than a Decade of great songs and improved on Welfare Mothers. How you say peace when I am rusting until you tell me your favorite Replacements/or why you don't like them.

  • @11xzxzxz Yeah, it was a coin flip between Pocahontas, and "Star of Bethelehem," with a great low key musical sound underneath some really great lyrics, ending the song with: "Maybe the star of Bethelehem,, wasn't a star at all," giving the listener pause, to rethink all the preceding lyrics.

As for the Replacements, responding here, and next with "CONT." You will find some of my, favorites already added in the past hour or so.

The quality is of no concern, knowing the lyrics.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 Oh no I never liked Star of Bethlehem and believe me religion is never the reason... I don't like John's Imagine much either. I will check out your Replacements and let you know.

  • @rockinroller7 CONT. And yeah if you only see the Replacement drunken performances on YT, I understand if you or not into them because the more drunk Paul Westerberg the lousier he was. Some people think that is what makes the Replacements great .. can't understand that for a second. Listen to any studio record and the same is much worse on YT.

  • @11xzxzxz I guess I've never really explined that I've always liked them, but like so many (still so many) bands and artists, I haven't put many, if any, of their songs in my favorites.

I left a comment at one stating that I've never believed Paul has ever sought "Stardom," (which another listener was concerned with) which may or may not account for his choice to get plastered before playing live.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 Ah still avoiding .. Did you never pick up a Rep. CD? Don't Tell a Soul is good for a thinking man. Or Let it Be with Answering Machine, Sixteen Blue, and the great Unsatisfied .. pay no attention to the video when Paul was plastered. I think you are part right: One part of Paul didn't want to wrap himself in stardom garments and the other part was begging for fame. I read that. Paul wanted it but kept control and didn't let it rule him. B4 semi-fame Paul was a Junk-man.

  • @11xzxzxz Sure, at least 2 of them.

"Don't tell a soul," got some airplay, and I put in one or two songs from "Let It Be," in my favorites.

There are so many "thinking," songs paul wrote which you can read in one of my comments at Sons of Bastards, I believe.

Not at the top of my game from a bit of too much sun yesterday, still feeling tired from sitting in it at Daniel's game.

It's just past 10, and i feel like I've been up all night.

  • @rockinroller7 Let It Be is my favorite too. Get some sleep.

  • @11xzxzxz

Just have a few things to impart in a short message.

  • @rockinroller7 @rockinroller7 Great picks man ... Unsatisfied, Bastards of Young (pickin cottton and waiting to be forgotten/ the (bastard) Daughters and the Sons), I Will Dare - fantastic, and Another Girl. Another Planet. Hey now I won't bother you anymore 'bout them.

  • @11xzxzxz Mike, when it comes to music, especially music two peole can relate to, and most importantly, enjoy it for the truthfulness it brings out of the artist, it is never a "Bother," to me.

    Peace.

  • Youngs in a different catorgory to all the rest, only measurable by his own standards and there very foggy to say the least

  • The studio version on his Harvest album was probably the best.

  • Not a song I listened to too much on the album, but I watched this on the telly & it blew mw away. Unbelievable talent from all the band & just shows the complete lack of talent in most of todays bands.

  • Close your eyes and it's 1972 again.Pass the bong please .

  • the great thing about neil young is that he is still amazing live

  • epic intro!

  • I have always loved Neil Young! He is one of my inspirations..... I love him.... No matter what!

  • Best live show I ever saw! So glad I was there!!!

  • love this song..one of the best ever in my opinion...wow and to be that close :-D

  • powerful chords, whatever the message

  • this song is killer

  • hari hari krishna

  • Excellent...

  • wow this is exelent footage i saw this on tv and this is better to watch :P, neil young rocks btw

  • Great sound quality here - thanks! Saw him the night after in Hyde Park. Third time in two years, but still spellbound. Incredible rumbling guitar sound.

  • I'm so jealous you go so close to the front! This was an epic performance!

  • i read a review that Neil is using the Gretsch White Falcon on this song...How cool is that. One of my favorite tunes from Harvest.

  • All of the electric guitar playing on Harvest was used with his Gretsch White Falcon. The Les Paul's weight was aggravating his back injury during that time.

  • Him and Springsteen - 120 years old between them! And they completely blew away everyone else. Brilliant

  • great ! i saw him in june and it was amazing

  • wow....after so many years he still has it...so much energy and passion!

  • I was there and it was church

  • You nailed it. Neil Young is like church. It is always so heavy and beautiful

  • Great footage.
