i call those things 'turning jetes with attitude leaps' in jazz.... :] does anyone no where i can view a person doing a grande jete en tournant doing it extremely well and it is not a ordinary grande jete, cant find it anywere, i wanna see what t looks like coz i probs did htem badly in my exam -.-
thats actually a calypso and not a grand jete en tournant in gjet's you aim to do a penche in the air to do it put your back to the audience stand in b plus, chasse fling the trailing leg up turn to the back and flail your other leg up
you mean a baryshnikov (as in the great ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikove....and it was a grand jete....jete means leap from one foot to the other; grande jete is a large leap...and it is turning (en tournant) there's lots of names for this leap...sometimes i call it a jete attitude en tournant..... :)
my friend had to do this in a play, and i do ballet also and jazz and ive been trying to teach myself. Can you or anyone else tell me how to do this?!?! like give me pointers?!
if you ground yourself more on the chaine(sp) turn before the jump...you will really be able to pop off the floor in the perfect leap or in your case the calypso. :)
How do u do that leap ?

calichicka15y 1 year ago
thats a calypso, a grand jete e tournant is a turn with a jete. A tour jete is like a turn with a scissor switch of the legs.
DaNitheG1rL 1 year ago
What you are doing here is a turn leap. A grand jete en tournant is also known as a tour jete.

no she didn't turn she tried to but only ended up putting her leg in attitude so she made it a calypso.
Robertking1996 2 years ago

angelshanna77889 3 years ago
we call those calypso or capezios in jazz or dance team dance (which is totallly different from ballet)
ctswright 3 years ago

That was a pretty good jump, but it wasn't a grand jete en tournant. It looked more like a jack jump.
musicalinc 4 years ago
it was good! and as for what vintageislife said, i don't think the back leg should be straight in this step.
georgiemaryk 4 years ago
in a grand jete en tournant, it should be.
vintageislife 4 years ago
i was good...but it helps me to do it if i plie on the second chaine... but it was decent though...and in jeans!!!

mbh56 4 years ago
she also needs to straighten out her back leg.
vintageislife 4 years ago
She could have meant to do a cylopso (sp?) which is where your front leg is straight and you back leg is back atitude.
fredarooni 4 years ago
no it doesn't look like that was what she was trying to do...
vintageislife 4 years ago
a calypso is where both are bent, she was trying to do a grande jete en tournent
catcherinred 3 years ago
a calypso both legs are not bent one is in attitude th other should be straight as possible
Robertking1996 2 years ago
@Robertking1996 no, a calypso is when the leading leg is straight and fanned up and over while the other leg is in attitude
