The first thing i saw even before he started welding is the heat factor, along with the slag and spatter.... In school we where taught about infrared rays. and there phisicle affect on skin exposer.... if ur gunna show how to weld, and go as far as using a helmet and saftey glases, why not throw on a pair of gloves (Gaunlet style) ... and you should also bewearing a long sleve shirt..
its not real unless you feel the heat. this is pointless in comparison to spending even 20minutes with a real machine. hopefully someone made money off it i guess.
I actually got to play with this exact machine last summer at my school. It is actually very cool and realistic. BUT if I had the choice between this game and the real deal with GMAW... It would be GMAW hands down. There are some bugs with the sim welder still.
2 cool what are u talking about i bet it helps if u never welded before it could help introduce u to it with out the danger. and i bet the schools arnt hard up for cash they spent lots of money buying that for there students and come on it is relly cool looking.
I personally think such welding simulator is pointless. I have not tried this but I can only imagine its nothing like the real thing. If you want to learn to weld go to college and do the real thing! On that video you are not geting all the sparks comming to haunt you and all everything else that goes with welding.
i would see this more for demonstrations than actual weld time. then again welding isnt getting the respect it deserves. A lot of school's budgets are being cut so they might have to resort to this.
yes they are it took 3 months for us to get some 232 that we used it all up in 3 weeks its a joke in los angeles there is only 1 welding school and they want 2 shut it down for a computer class good thing i already got my certs
lol my highschool shop class has one it is use for the incoming freshmen to learn how to weld

This machine should be the dunce cap of welding training institutions. You know, for the kids who cant get their polatities right, or who waste rods.

Wow, I have never seen such an amazing waste of technology. Are the welding schools so hard up for cash that they cant afford consumables?
