  • I feel sorry for the 103 people who are tonedeaf...

  • This is a great drum off. Wish I was there. Saw Genesis at Twickenham in 2007 but I have a feeling Phil was more on his game during the tour of this video. Still my favourite drummer though. There's nothing like it! Who agrees?

  • I want to see Phil live so bad!

  • i thought that was a steve smith in the beginning :O

  • 100 people are bitches without ears...

  • hahahahah this is funny, an old man playing a drum hahahah just take a look to joey jordison drum solo ;D you will see its epic

  • @metalerotaku96 Jordison can suck Collin's epic cock

  • @metalerotaku96 You're a fucking moron. PHIL COLLINS' music has been around A LOT longer than Joey Jordison's music, and I guarantee in 20 years people will STILL be listening to Phil Collin's, and no one will even remember who Joey Jordison was.

and P.S...I'm a drummer, and Jordison is not even relevant in the drumming world. Maybe you should check out a REAL drummer like Tony Royster, Jr.

    Phil Collins FTW!

  • @metalerotaku96 No really, it's okay to think that Joey Jordison is a great and unique drummer and delivered a solo worthy of the gods. It's a typical rookie mistake and shows you don't know much about drumming and music in general. But that's okay too. Not everyone can have a sophisticated taste in music after all.

But you'd probably retort that Travis Barker is the best drummer known to mankind.

Usually those two drummers appeal to beginners.

  • He's no Terry Bozzio

  • @robi2000 Nah, HE"S PHIL COLLINS!!!!!!!

  • is he to be the last drum superstar?

  • youtube.com/watch?v=qdCDuTqwNuQ

  • Actually people, Phils' idol was the late, great Buddy Rich. Phil used to attend Buddy's concerts as much as his schedule permitted. I know this because I toured with Buddy's band from 1984-86. That was when I first met Phil. I then got offered to tour with Phil from 1996-? Great gigs!!

  • @vicram1983 Phil Collins at his best in the 70's was better than Neil Peart, but because he decided to sing instead to play drum, he became less good that he was!!!

  • @Htdrums2010, he is the last drummer to play single-headed toms.

  • i am too......;)

  • @inconscio72, it creates a different sound, which is unique.

  • scheiß amature aufnahme !!!

  • thumbs up for chester!

  • hì_ÁnYôñÉ_wàNña_chÁt_wIth_mê_ï_fêÈl_sò_lÖnelY_tøÐAy▼

  • WOW you were so lucky! I wish I was there I love him!

  • Best drummer that ever lived.

  • 92 people were the drums

  • FLAWLESS!!! MIKE PORTNOY LEARNED FROM PHILL COLLINS!!!

  • It's easy to forget that he started out with a bunch of lads as their drummer.

  • very nice

  • Phill is awesome!

  • wtf he doesn't have a good rythim....hes just fast, yeah its cool to be fast but what makes good drummers is have a good rythim, hes not that good, again, just fast

  • @voelker16 not that i think this is greaet, but what u said makes no sense

  • @voelker16 If you had ever watched phil in the 70's, there he was amazing, in both Genesis and Brand X. Check out watch?v=EmP8NC2EOLE , pure awesomeness

  • @voelker16 i agree with you there mate

  • @voelker16 type something as" genesis drum duet "and see it

  • did someone shout "slipknot" =D

  • Too bad he can't do this anymore.

  • Phil Collins is truly one of thee greats.

  • phil collins this man made me start drumming and he his a left handed player

  • I saw Phil in person and he did a druum roll with one hand I was amazed! I asked him who his inspirations were and he said...Ringo! great guy

  • he is a god drummer. just like neil pert. but sadly this guy can no longer drum. something about carpel tunnel syndrome or something

  • Phil was in a band called Brand X.....very progressive in the day....so all the haters better checkthat out first before hating.

  • Why the hell isn't there more video out there of Phil doing this?

  • search : Amorphic drum < - - what technique is this??

  • :O best drummer i have every seen

how can 86 pple hate this wonderful drummer???

  • Riiiight. So you didn't go to watch the gig, you went to video it through a camera?

  • I'm a much better drummer than phil collins, just check out my vid..

  • @ElJazz93 Your vids suck.

  • @MrEcaz No your vuds suck

  • @ElJazz93 In the mind of you saying you're better than Phil Collins they suck.

And you're not even 1/100012038912938 as good as Phil Collins and you never will be you sad fuck.

  • @MrEcaz I will!

  • @ElJazz93 No you wont! >: ( I know everything!

    42 is the answer!

  • @MrEcaz 42

  • @ElJazz93 42 indeed.

  • @MrEcaz 42.

  • @ElJazz93 Indeed

  • @MrEcaz indeed

  • @ElJazz93 Very much indeed

  • @MrEcaz Indeed.

  • Its not the same drum solo than the DVD

  • I have an opinion on this video.

  • HOLY SHIT! We're not worthy! We're not worthy!

  • Cool der is halt n Multi Talent

  • SUPER xD

THIS IS IT Unbeschreiblich aber WAHR xD

  • sup drum fan go check out my vidoes u will see y phil is one of my best drummers

  • I think that great musicians are people who you can learn from when they perform. This wasn't very musical or interesting and the only thing I learned is that ripping loud doubles around the kit only impresses non-musicians. I think he's best when he uses the drums to emphasise his music, but he's not that musical with just a drum kit. Make sense?

  • @cwaller18 - I don't care if you are dave weckl, steve gadd or joey jordison or whomever. Drum solos are pointless and a complete waste of time. And YES, I'm a drummer. I loath going to concerts where there are drum solos. I usually go to the restroom when they begin.

  • @Dropanobama1 Your so fucking cool!

  • @Edwardjudge - Yes, I am so fucking cool :) Thanks for recognizing the obvious.

  • It's a shame he can't drum anymore

  • Great talent... excellent chops. Phil is an underrated drummer for sure.

  • damb!!!!!!!!!!thats amazing

  • Technical, but still has soul. Joey Jordison can't do THAT!!!

  • To guyosborn - Phil Collins carried Genesis; he made Genesis famous. Peter Gabriel abandonned Genesis - didn't even have the decency to attend the induction ceremony for Genesis into the rock and roll hall of fame. Disgraceful if you ask me. Collins is the true and talented frontman.

  • This is a masterpiece.Phil is a genious. He's not only one of the best drummers ever, but he can play any instrument and sing simultaneously and he writes his own songs that are magnificient. He brought Genesis into the R&RHOF and just turned things around them.Terrific voice and his passion for music made fans forget about Peter Gabriel. How much of a genious Phil is has been confirmed but his solo career where he has continued in releasing "classics".

  • @88BigEtrain hahaha - very funny - serious music listeners stopped listening to Genesis once Peter Gabriel left. Collins can play drums, but really, seriously, you cannot be serious about him making fans forget about Gabriel. You are a funny little boy, mistaken, but funny. At least you amuse us a little, you little troll, you. I suppose you think that Paul McCartney produced better stuff with Wings than with the Beatles too! (The band the Beatles could have been, eh?)

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh me gusta Al! me acuerdo de el ,en los 80!es cuando mas me gustaba... ejem! besos hermano!

  • Phil is alot better then some people think, he can solo real well and groove with the best of them and be technical as well!!!

  • FFFT?

  • best drummer is Charlie Antolini but its not so bad that.

  • singer 8

    drumer 10

  • I'd rather listen to Phil in his mid to late fifties than 95% of what's out there.

  • @SterlingRe u right i always called phil the god of tom toms listen to in the air tonight so much power u can feel is playing

  • @SterlingRe Whats out there?

  • @SterlingRe

    AMEN TO THAT.

  • I don't know anything about double stroke rolls but Digital Dream Door web site has a ranking of the top 100 drummers based on influence, innovation, originality, and technical ability, and Phil Collins comes in at number 34 - So, me, I'm impressed. I think he's just talented period.

  • i'm not impressed...double stroke rolls, then some separations between feet and tom-toms...thats all to it. Don't take me wrong,he is a great musician...but if we are talking about drummer qualities ALONE...not that great.

  • He IS one of the greats. Just listen to Brand X, his fusion side band in the 70s.

  • FFFT?

  • @socalkevinz FirstFinalFarewell Tour

  • I'm seeing a human drum machine

  • You dont know what your talking about...

  • you're

  • That just proves it...

  • WTH! Ö Try to do this by yourself then!

  • Um....Buddy, Phil is ranked in the top 100 drummers ever. But no, he's not that great !!!! Shutup !!!! And go have some pancake mix !!!

  • Does Phil Collins still keep up on practicing drums? I mean, it is a lot of work to play at a high level.

He is busy with songwriting and singing and such, I'm not sure how he finds the time.

  • Recently he reported that he will never play again (issues with spine or something).

  • beast mode

  • i met him his son goes to my school

  • oh boy you are famous!!

  • Can't remember who said of Phil Collins, "Shut up and drum", but he was right. Good stuff!

  • Sucks for me, I'm in the military. Anthrax, over and over again.

  • I'd rather avoid people like you.

  • thats amazing

  • OMFG

  • @leitegabriel Couldn't say it better myself. :P

  • Phil was about 56 years old her too.

  • Great gig! I was on front row :)

  • Wow... That was a great night. I remember because I was lucky enough to be in the 3rd row in the wembley stadium.

  • Einfach nur super genial:-))

  • it's only a drum solo until 2:06 at which point it becomes a drum duet

  • better than i thought he was

  • His music is awesome.

  • Even tho a shorter solo, Chester killed Phill....

  • dont get me wrong, phil is amazing. it wasnt so much his drumming it was the smug look he had on his face like "yeh, im up here with JPG, page, plant, im the man"

  • what in the world are you talking about ? what look?

  • he is awesome.

  • were chester thompson said in the discription phil nd chester

  • wow phil, why coudnt you play that good at live aid with zeppelin? you blew

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with that. At live aid with led zeppelin he screwed it up!

  • ya he did. zeppelin didnt sound right without bonham

  • was that at the farewell tour it looks like the stage

  • and the snare

  • double strokes ftw

  • ANyone who claims to have the talent of Phil Is in a dream world.! When someone can drum like him sing with him and Drum with that sort of timing like he does in the Duet's and then be able to sell out stadiums no matter where u perform then u can say something until then shut up

  • Raaaight

  • @intheairtonight totally brah

  • @Canadianforever8412 Travis Barker...

  • as scarey as it may seem, there are a lot of drummers, amateur and pro who can do all of that and more. The amount of talent out there is amazing. However, this isn't to take anything away from Phil, he's an innovator and he set the standard for a lot of rock drummers many years ago.

  • i can play this kind of solo 2. but just need the right gear.

    BUT WICKED AWESOME

  • if u could u would be on stage with him and be famous.... but are u ???? yh thats waat i thought :)

  • that's the most retarded logic i've heard. just because phil collins is on a stage doesn't mean he has more talent... there are fuckloads of amazing musicians who go unnoticed

  • maybe they should get noticed then

  • Phil was a heck of a drummer in his day, very innovative...he played with a fusion band called Brand X before Genesis and the drumming was really ground breaking. BTW, it's not a "press roll", it's a "closed roll" just for the record.

  • I'm just ryin to get into drumming whats a press roll and a closed roll

  • damn phil collins...

  • Comment removed

  • where is this?

  • :SSS -_______-"

  • that is actually quite good not bad phil

  • did the guy at 0:32 call out "Press roll!!"

haha you can tell that his audiences are pretty musically inclined then.
