Awesome Vid!!! Do you know why I get this on X plane 10. At almost all airports, I will get a weird black flickering texture that is no shadow and looks like all the houses are floating on a black flickering pool. And, if you look towards this texture, the fps will drop to like 2 fps from 30. Great Vid again!!

@kevinkeeganarg Dude I just upgraded my system to Intel core i7 3930k(hexacore) with 8gb 1866mhz ram. Graphics card is the same gtx 580 and even with this beast machine I CANNOT run X-Plane 10 at the highest possible settings. You will have to play with the graphics settings to find the sweet spot for your machine.

The darkened feature btw, is easily tunabale, in the rendering settings of the gamma, the display area, graphics card catylist control center and the monitor display color. Ive actually made it brighter to the point where the sun glare actually made it squint and dissoritend my natural senses. Its all about the pc and tunning.

The game is bottled necked. Like most private simms, after market packets are required as addons. And also some tweaking needs to be done to the game. But i7 processor great graphics card and some addons and the game is a joy to play. Very stable, very realistic, fun and endlessly adjustable. FSX to me is a great introductory to the world of flight simmulation, I graduated to xplanes and love every second.

@Powertampa X-Plane doesn't support SLI yet so two 580's won't give you more frames. There is a guide on how to setup x-plane 10 on your hardware at x-plane dev blog. Check it out.

@JWgameplays I didn't darken the video. If you have tried X-Plane, you'd know that X-plane world itself is a bit dark overall. Also you can see that it was really early morning and due to global illumination, sun's light is not yet fully reflected on the terrain. Thirdly, I think there is something wrong with X-Plane's Quicktime video renderer (I didn't use fraps) because the original in game footage isn't that dark.

I wasn't impressed with the demo at all and quickly deleted it, Got a decent Gaming Rig, AMD X4 620 2.6ghz cpu, 6gig of ram and GTX580 video card but as someone else said the setting up is terrible compared to Microsoft Flight Simulator games, Sorry shiney graphics dont make a game good and Flight's Graphics already look better than X-plane 10's and can already see it having better flying Dynamics as well, I would not throw a cent towards this game.

I have a question for you though, I'm coming from FSX and I like to fly with complex add-ons like PMDG, is the FMC (747 for a more specific example) simulated the same way in X-Plane 10? X-Plane has failed in many elements to me: Compatability (hardware like throttle quadrant, pedals, yoke/joystick), realism (the sim isn't authentic in many areas, and so as it's mods; like dynamics, response, and minor things like A/C systems are not up to success), and accessibility: it is rediculously hard to program, set-up, and even in terms of going to a desired airport (spawning) and setting up pre-flight. @MCAS9077 Well did you know that X Plane is certified by the FAA as a simulator and Microsoft Flight is not?

They both have their strong points and weak points, but in general, X Plane is certified by the FAA where FSX is not.

WIll have to wait to see more about Flight when it comes out.

Aerosoft and all the other big developers are going more in the way of X Plane now, so what do they know that the rest of us don't?

I don't think you used reverse thrust.

Shift / and then hold F2 will bring on the reverse thrust.

Shift / again will toggle it back to forward thrust.

You can also retract the flaps when you start taxiing.

@richiebogie Well ofcourse I used reverse thrust. I used sounds from a real video and the sound of reverse thrust wasn't that audible. About the flaps, it's a matter preference. I tend to close them while I'm halfway down to the parking gate. Thanks for watching.
