I am wondering why Thai still uses their 747 regional (old) configuration for their 921 rounte. I am pretty sure as usual in flight and ground services are fantastic on all Thai flights, but not even AVOD on a 10 hours flight is only can be called 'bad'....
THAI uses their fleet forever before getting new aircrafts, same as in the 1980s, had old, ugly, worn out DC10 and B747...while SIA gets new planes on a regular basis.
Of cousre^^ Thai air does own Tv's in every seat^^ We booked 1 class and in every seat there was a tv with about 300 movies which are actualy in the cinema^^ and in a lot of languages^^
Good video and GREAT airline. I have flown supposed 5 star airlines and other top airlines but these airlines usually have surly or miserable flight attendents. Thai's service is brilliant with genuine smiles and who cares about no personal screens - you get great leg room. Take an iPod or personal DVD player. Thai Airways to Thailand is the best by far!
my mom went from fra-bankok with the same plane and said it was horrible..everything was full/loud and not very nice..she will never fly with thai again...qatar airways are the best! believe me! and theres more (leg)room
If your mother wants to experience an airline she'll never want to fly again, she ought to fly any, ANY US carrier, international or domestic. No food (on domestic flights), no legroom, no pillows , no blankets, no orchids, no flight attendant uniform change, no overhead bin space, no IFE, and lots and lots of inconsiderate passengers and fat, old and bitter flight attendants who should have retired a long time ago....then I suggest your mother give Thai another go.
@am1966ath - I have not been fortunate enough to fly SIA, but I hear that they're great. Have flown Emirates before and was not impressed. Perhaps I had been too hyped up with what to expect on EK. Still like TG but agree that flights can be a bit miserable especially when they are 100% full. Have got a bit fed up with non stop long distance flights so now seek out Qatar Airways to BKK with a short stop in DOH to stretch the old legs.
@TheHugit4249 Qatar airways is good, but Doha airport is not great, and at transfer time in the middle of the night its very crowded. If you don t travel in premium class(first or business) you can pay extra to get acces to a lounge, relax, internet and shower and buffer of fruits, drinks etc...blieve me, the transit are is overcrowding with arabs and Indians/Bangladeshi at midnight.
@TheHugit4249 You can also go on Etihad or Gulf air......Abu Dhabi airport is great for transit but see to it that transit time is not an eternity okey, thats a problem with emirates..some horrible transit stopps in Dubai..6-8hours..awful.
@hugit4249, you´re so funny!! Ever been on a 14 1/2 hour leg from let´s say DXB - SYD?? And no chance than watching what they have to offer? NO WAY! Even for a 7h flight I want to decide what to watch myself. Big screen for everyone is 60s standard, not 2011!!! Wanted to try Thai for my next trip DUS-CHC but good that I saw this vid. Will stick with Emirates then. Did the trip 4 times and the DXB Lounge is really annoying but at least I have 600 Movies/TV-Shows I can choose of.
Great video, I love the B747.400 with no IFE on the seat in front, I have found out that Thai will now use a A340 on the daylight flight out of Heathrow and the good old B747.400 on the night time flight out of Heathrow, Thai are the best for legroom 34 inches but on the A340.500 you get 36 inches, Im not that sure on the A340 from Heathrow it could be a A340.600 and the legroom is 34 inches on the that one...But still very good and if you like the IFE then its great..
I can not understand why people choose to travel to Thailand in the rainy season there. I would never go there during the rainy season. Field instead between December and March, much better weather then.

FRA- BKK ..No inflight entertainment and lots of grumpy folk on the return flight. Prefer flying via AUH with Etihad

@hugit4249 when they go on time and everything works..I ve had some miserable longhaul flights on THAI...SIA and EMIRATES are way ahead of THAI.
their old IFE sometimes break down also...and the awful english their staff speaks.
