@beccaotaku Well, you asked this a month ago, and i dont know if you already got a answer, but here we go: The Farmers that was vary angry with the abolition of the slavery give suport to the republicans of the army to plot against the empire, and the Emperor fearing that the country would fall into a bloodbath just resigned, with the condiction that a blebiscite be realized after 4 years after. well that happens only 90 years late, and manipulated.
Dear friends, the brazilian republic was a plot of the oligarchy to govern without the emperor interference, wich explain why most of the welth earned by the country over this 100 years is concentrated in the hands of less than 2% of the population. But our hearts are changing, and monarchy partys are poping all over the country.

Do not get me wrong I am pro democracy, but there are many countries that go corrupt. In no way am I calling the Brazilian Government corrupt.
In some countries of the world the people are happier with their monarchy.
Just look at Bhutan; the people were devastated to hear their king go and feared their "Natural Happiness" policy/traditions be ruined. Who says a monarchy can't be good, justice, and be better for certain people?

Estas revoltas citadas por voce aconteceu no periodo da regência, que foi a primeira experiência de regime republicano no Brasil, que foi um caos, tendo que D. Pedro subir ao trono aos 14 anos para colocar ordem na casa. Já a Guerra do Paraguai, ocorrido no reinado de D. Brazilian Empire was one of the most stable South American Government (as much as it could be, being in south america after all), and republic resulted with slaveowners coming to power, and later various dictatorships, such as Vargas.
