@zickie2000 sorry but there was no 56 model,, there was only one car built in 55 and sadly it was used by George barris to build the bat moblie and he did it in 28 days, all other futuras are copies
@misfitt58 That's exactly what i was thinking. This car just looks phony and homemade. Why would Barris make acopy of this car when most of those concept cars were usually just trashed or scrapped, and some ended up in private hands either legally or under the table. The story i always heard was that Barris aquired the Futura legitimately, and converted it into the batmobile that he still owns today.
This 1955 Lincoln Futura replica was built by the late Bob Butts from a "retrofitted" fiberglass 1966 Batmobile body. While not 100% perfect, it is the only Futura replica of which I know. For more information about the 1955 Lincoln Futura and the 1966 Batmobile, be sure to the check out Eric Seltzer's great website: three w's dot 1966batmobile followed by the usual.
@MarkRacop I bought a Brubaker BOX from Bob Butts about 10 years ago from his ranch near San Diego. What a nice guy. He had a TV Batmobile there at that time, along with a bunch of movie props and misc stuff.
@yumyumsashimi i feel the same way ...every time you here george barris talk about this car..he makes it sound like he did all of this in 3 weeks....he did some mods to it,,and painted it black ..but mostly this is all ford
I love that car! I would drive it every day if I had one. Whay chassis is this copy built on? Galaxie? And what kind of engine? Is it and FE or MEL or newer engine type? And can you get a kit of this car? I'd love to build one.
No, this is a reproduction based on the prototype Lincoln Futura which was re-used in 1966 as the Batmobile. A lot of reproductions of the 1966 Batmobile were made built on a Ford Galaxie chassis, so this must be one of them, or one made using the molds that were taken to build copies of the Batmobile.
Atomic batteries to power...Turbines to speed...Holy Showcar....it's....

No doubt, the builder spent many hours watching, and then rewatching, the 1959 Glenn Ford movie, It Started With a Kiss.

Yes it is a reproduction and an excellant one at that.
Wow!
I am amazed at the quality and research put into this repro!
It looks very strait and a fine job!

I'm confused. The original Lincoln Futura concept car WAS used to build the 66 Batmobile and no longer exists in this form. Is this a reproduction?

So insanely gorgeous. Honestly, how much more did they have to do to turn the Futura into the Batmobile? Paint it black and add a turbine exhaust?
somercet1 1 year ago
If it wasn't for the designers of Ford I dont think george barris could have built a better batmobile! So my praise goes to the people of Ford.....

Couldn't see much of the interior nor does this vid show the engine bay, but the body is a fairly good copy of the futura. Nice job.
