Anyone interested in this subject should read "The Denial of Death" (Ernest Becker) which won the Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction in 1974. He takes the strongest theories of Freud, Adler, Rank, Kierkegaard, Jung, etc. and pulls them together for comparison and analysis for a more focused picture of neurosis and mental health that has yet to be made clearer.
You can sort Horney's 10 aspects of neurosis into- Moving towards people, moving against people and moving away from people. Saves having to go through them all! Love the videos!

In these turbulent times, we need Freud and psychoanalysis more then ever. All that neuroscience psychology is getting us all brainwash. Like we're robots.
All you psychologists , psychoanalysts, psychiatrists speak too much about the observations that even a high school kid could make. The problem is how an adult person could overcome the neurotic problems and how to protect futurte generations from it. In the end we are stuck again to the medication-solution- , which doesn't solve anything at all.
@mcamoran High schoolers can make these observations b/c psychoanalysts made so convincing a case to the world over the last 125 years that these ideas are common currency today! (Jeez!) Assuming ur comment was not intended as a joke, an obvious response to the last part is that medicating all problems away was NOT what Freud or any other psych. school "prescribed" (if you'll forgive the pun), but what happened when psycho. went American. Same reason many of us think fitness is a pill u can buy.
We have neurosis b/c of the enviroment we live in. It's a byproduct. Btw, 90% of all crime is due to scarcity in the enviroment and directly due to our economic and social system which is inherrantly FLAWED.
This Freud ramble is so old. Perhaps you should check out the last five decades of psychology. Are you aware of the neuroscience breakthroughs? Knowledge is not stagnate...it is forever changing.
do mccarthyism, judaism or kabbala count?
