  • They are freakishly fast-- We also have a Bernese Mtn. Dog who is very nimble, but our I/W out -runs her without any effort whatsoever.

  • Hey Guys, can anyone tell me what this Coursing Lures are? Are those like remote controlled toys? I'm thinking of getting an Irish Wolfhound, but before I make this lifechanging decision, I think I should get myself informed ;)

  • @wijse There name is Irish wolfhound because they were bread to fight off wolves not because there some sort of mix and hunt like wolves

  • It is a RECREATED Breed.

It went extinct and was recreated...

  • @StSimonMartyr But they have been used on wolves in recent years in america, and have been used on dingoes (type of wolf) in australia :)

  • Umm...NO, they havent.

They are a recreated breed not really used for anything other than petting and looking at.

It is Staghounds that did the hunting and it was on plains coyotes, not wolves.

Same in Australia, Greyhounds, deerhounds and coarsers therein.

  • @StSimonMartyr yes they have cunt, my mates had wolfhounds and used them on dingoes, and i have talked to people from america that used them on WOLVES, so shut ya mouth fuckhead

  • @StSimonMartyr and by the way, we use wolfhound X staghounds, ridgeback crosses, wolfhounds mostly on dingoes, deerhounds and greyhounds are shit dingo dogs

  • i didnt know they can run that fast i fort they were slow big dogs

  • @azza7717 Think! They have long legs and great leg muscles. Also the hint is in the name. Irish Wolfhound. How do wolves hunt? They chase down and pen in their prey in packs.

  • @azza7717 Not quite as fast as Greyhounds over short distance, but they have more stamina and can out run just about any breed in longer distances. Actually, they're sometimes called Irish Greyhounds.

  • is that a jet powered hankerchief?

  • looks can be deceiving. I/W looks like slow docile dogs... but crikey look them go!!

  • Was für ein toller Spot. Herrlich die Hounds rennen zusehen....

  • It's beautiful to see them gracefully run and do the sport that they are bred for.

  • @Ringlet13 they certainly weren't bred for chasing a plastic bag on a string, and the dogs of today would struggle doing the job their ancestors did. thank show breeders for that.

  • wow. ok pardon my ignorance. but what does "coursing" specifically mean? I read an artcile on Irish Wolfhounds where it said it was common for wolfhounds at play to "course" another dog. wasn't sure what they meant

  • coursing is when a dog sees the prey in the distance and chases and catches it. the 'prey' can be a lure, a rabbit, a hare or some other animal.

  • @originalrecoil coursing another dog is competing with it to catch something. greyhound coursing - the two dogs compete for the hare.

  • excellent yep they are damn fast wow

  • they're fu*king fast!

  • They can really get moving can't they wow.

  • They're SUCH amazingly good dogs.

  • oh my god, they were really fast O.O

  • Yes, I realise I do seem ridiculously stupid...sorry about that

  • What the hell are they chasing?? It doesnt even look real. I assume its a rabbit. Is it a trained rabbit? Can you even train rabbits? especially train em to come back to you, since you are training the dogs to maul one of em to death. Or am I pissing the point completely?

  • its a lure on a rope

  • What the hell was that the dogs were chasing, it looked like an electronic rabbit :S

  • its a plastic bag, a favourite in the fake coursing community

  • the big rabbit got f*cked.

  • what, proper fucked

  • yeah tommy before ze germans get here

  • im terrible partial to the periwinkle blue, ehh boy?

  • @edtri19 and the boys get a pair of them shoes ahaha

  • @NHL8924 Ahh fuck it, i'll do the fight for free

  • can reach 60-70 km/h

  • think if wolfs switch place with these, irish wolf hound was wild and aggresive and wolfs were tame and house pets

  • They are really TOP DOG

  • Holy cow those dogs are fast! Do they share the lead to keep up the chase?

  • We used to lure course our afghan, and he was spectacular - a natural who won many races. We had an Irish Wolfhound as well, and brought him out only once. Perhaps if there had been a few pounds of beef attached to the lure...? Connor just wasn't interested. Lovely to see what it is SUPPOSED to look like! Thanks.

  • Thank you for this gorgeous video! I always get teary when I see these beautiful dogs doing what they do best...RUN!!!

  • Coursing? This looks like dog heaven! Where do you sign up your dog to learn how to do this????? (Going off to google "coursing"!)

  • "Hey guys, looks like a rabbit over there!! Let's chase it!" ... "Damn, just a plastic bag. Nasty trick. Maybe next time." ... "Hey guys, looks like a rabbit over there!! Let's chase it!" ...
