  • I have a 20 tall. With bolivian rams. Would a Bambi shrimp be good

  • Can they live off of that?

  • @Magostop thats all they do lol they never forage around on the bottom for food or anything so yes, but occasionally i crush up flake food and put that in and when the water from the filter pushes it into the water the shrimp eats those

  • wow what an awesome Bamboo Shrimp! Can I ask what color your substrate is? My Boo is super light brown.. and im just wondering if they go darker colors with darker sand and stuff to blend. Ive had mine for 5 months now and i dont think he will ever turn red.

  • @Montrealmadness thanks! my substrate is fine black gravel, and ive found that the jet black gravel deff brings out the bamboo's red color. The black substrate also deepens the colorings of the fish and makes their colors more intense!

  • @BingX14 thats weird mine get red when they just shed there skin and brown when there about to shed

  • I've just bought one of these, he seems quite conent at the moment. What is the beautiful plant he is sitting on?

  • Oh my gosh. That color! Mine is light brown. I'm waiting for him to molt so he can get this color! I got mine from PetCo today. He's hiding in my 46 gallon. But I have a decoration positioned right infront of the output filter flow.

  • where did u get it

  • Cool bid. I have one ? Though do bamboo shrimp go good with African dawf frogs and corycat?

    Thanks

  • @beardielover369 yes, but only if you have a strong current from the filter. Bamboo shrimp wont eat fish flakes or anything like that, they filter feed on micro organisms that are found in the filter. if you have a power filter that sucks water up thru a tube (the type of filter you'd hang on the back of your tank) then the shrimp will feed on the micro organisms that some out of the filter.

  • funny - my local petco is the only place i can find them too lol, i went to get one back over the summer but the two that i had seen just the afternoon before had been sold that very day... :(

  • that must have been dissapointing lol have you gotten any bamboo shrimp since then?

  • nah, i have a feeling that since my parrot loves crickets so much that he might take a bite at one if i got it, I'd love to see if i can pick one up though before I go back to college (I've been lugging his 15 gallon back and forth from college) he's really happy in it though but I just want to get my upgrade faster (I get it in may to a 45 gallon, actually the same 45 u have) check out my videos of him! :)

  • thanks man, i surprisingly picked this one up at a local Petco lol. They always have a tank for bamboo shrimp but there is rarley any shrimp in the tank. But i went in on their shippment day and for the first time they had like 20 bamboo's so i could't miss out, i had to snag one. they are really interesting to watch
