Haha!! Now I only have 1 gerbil and he's in a glass aquarium, and once he digs all his tunnels and stuff, the bedding is usually about halfway high or so. :D
Flash was not harmed when he fell from the yellow platform (actually, its pretty obvious he was fine because he went right ahead and started climbing again) -_-
