  • very nice this man is master

  • Tiff!!!!

  • este es el nuevo auto de Defiant!! jojo

  • I just bought 2 (yes, 2 xD) of these! Same color! I won't be practicing this, though :P

  • @Favdaukar I don't know how to do that so you better don't try it....

  • @00:35 Fiiiiiiiiiiirst gear... tututututuut to the clutch hahahahahaha XD

  • the 1997-2001 Ford Puma was assembled in

    Niehl, Germany

  • I have Ford Puma, and it's still working well!

  • this is a perfect way to kill a ff car XD

  • i want one in black, then i can spray flip (chameleon) paint on it :D

  • Grrr, wish they'd sold the Puma in the states!!

  • @chriz00 im actually quite upset about that aswell

  • the 1997-2001 Ford Puma was assembled in

    Niehl, Germany

  • @Annihilator1111 are you sure? As far as I know they were assembled in Cologne.

  • how the hell do you put it in 1st gear at that speed? mine doesn't allow it

  • is a puma good for a 17 year old? (with insurance aswell)

  • this guy is weird as fuck

  • THIS is why I love Tiff more than Clarkson. Clarkson can't drive worth a shit, just talk trash. Tiff is a proper racing driver, and has a better personality, IMHO. Not condescending like that old puff Clarkson.

  • I really wouldn't want to buy that car after Tiff had finished with it.

  • can you put it in neutral and shift down to first gear, before you go into the slide and then shift up already into one while you are still moving?

  • I SOOOO WANT A FORD PUMA! =D

  • Awesome driving, i once had the arse go on my ford escort on a roundabout lol but that diden't power out, then on my ford ka i went into a roundabout abit fast backend went and powerd outr of it, felt good but scared to do it on purpuse incase it went completely

  • jesus, that tiff guy can drive

  • I have a Puma, but one question: How much damage do these stunts inflict on the car? (clutch, engine, wheels, etc.) Is it possible to damage the wheel axle?

  • @aoeuuiaiui It could possible cook the engine and clutch. Don't know about the axle. Could be harsh on the suspension. Don't think it does any damage to the wheels. Would just turn all of your tyres to smoke. So you'ld want to keep money aside for new tyres after you've done with these things...

  • @afthefragile Thanks dude. So assuming the clutch is near the end of its life and I'd have to replace it soon anyway, that's just £200 or so. But getting a new engine would cost £1000-£1500. What exactly destroys the engine? The high revs? Or the high piston pressure caused by forcing the engine to turn against such high resistance?

  • a question for all of you expert drifters here: is it possible to execute all of these tricks on a rwd? or are these specific tricks meant for fwd exclusively?

  • @JazzyShredder There are for FWD exclusively. You can do similar things on a RWD but they take slightly different technique. Watch Tiff's video with the BMW Z3 where he shows how to drift a RWD car.

  • @afthefragile if you're talking about the next part of this video, where tiff shows tricks that can be done on a bmw roadster, then yes i've already seen that. my question was, though, that would it be possible to do stuff like the handbrake u-turns or maybe even the famous russ swift handbrake-parallel-parking manuevre at all, on a rwd?

  • @JazzyShredder The Scandinavian Flick (Feint) can be done in fwd, rwd, and even awd vehicles. It actually was created using awd. Rally racers use it a lot. U can take the grippiest of cars that lock the road really tight, but a got old flick, will make u lose some grip. I don't care for the handbrake turns because with an fwd car, you really can't hold the drift as long, and the main thing that does is just throws the car around and make it skid, that what a lot of idiots on here do. Flick!

  • @Hendrixidol The flicks been used since the 60's. FWD Saab 96s. Not AWD.

  • this was very good lessons. and i like a car a lot!

  • Tiff Needell is an absolute legend, and he has a great personality too. :D

  • in that speed when you drifting it`s safe to do that..i mean dont you have a risk that the car might flip over with you? i wanna try this but im kinda scared since i dont have a license :)))))))

  • @TheMihaitza1988

depends what car you are driving, if it's higher it can flip over. I saw the one vid with the Vectra? that car should do fine. I however don't recommend you to drive on streets w/o license. If you are doing this on a closed area that's another story. Be aware that beside the tyres alot of other parts can be demaged (clutch, steering, engine itself to name a few). Specially if you drive with an old Opel be aware of the higher risiko that something could happen to the car.

  • This driver has a very high skill.

  • he did drive f1 if im not mistaking, not to mention GTC and TC races

  • awesome

  • looks like a euro version of the mercury cougar

  • The Puma is the cougars little brother. And here the cougar is also a Ford

  • @legendapoju22 but the puma is sick and the couger is shit

  • when 5th was good

  • it ain't 5th gear, it's Tiff's own DVD

  • hit the power and end up going straight again in the line you were going....shitty example of a flick

  • What the fuck do you know?

  • plenty. I have fwd and rwd cars.....i think i would know how they handle.

  • I think Tiff knows better, (he's the racing driver with experience including F1). Your a faceless youtube armchair "drifter" who spouts nonsense and passes judgement with no accountability. Well done.

  • o rly? then look at when he hits the throttle while drifting, he goes straight. He failed he just didnt admit that he didnt do it proper. While he did it good 5.22 at 5.38 was a total failure, i know how that technique works since i used to do it on the track.ofc you can choose to not believe me, but please do try it yourself, give it a little more gas and a little early and you go straight, like i said. nuff said

  • give me a race track i won't try this in some of my cars :)

  • That's not drift!!

  • is it possibl in suzuki swift vdi

  • Why does his head wobble so fucking much?

  • i can only do the 90 in my puma.. i want do the reverse 1 that looks hot

  • its not good to do it more than once lol..its abuse

  • this is easy...lol..i did it easily without brakes

  • is drifting bad for your tires?????

  • Murderous. See all that tyre smoke? It used to be...tires.

  • Hahaha fantastic man!

  • what does dip mean?

  • dip the clutch, basically put your foot down on the clutch.

  • drifting with a FF. nice.

  • this guy is a legend

  • wrong the japan guy-Kiichi was the best drifter out there and he still is

  • Tiff Needell is a Legend in his own respect. I dont think changematerz was saying he is a drift legend, just a racing legend.

  • ok :) peace :D

  • The Ford "PEYUHMA"

  • is there any way to drift a front wheel drive car? i got a 2000 impala, automatic, front wheel drive.

  • Did you watched this vid???

  • yeah, i forgot to say that my e break if a foot pedal.

  • I can't help you then, I never drove an automatic :)

  • The Ford Puma over in the UK is the Mercury Cougar here in the US except ours has a 2.5L V6.

  • Wrong, we have the Cougar with the V6 too, they're different cars!

  • Then explain why Mercury is not sold in the UK.

  • Unfortunately there are many cars not sold in the UK :-(

The Mercury Cougar was sold as the Ford Cougar over here based on the UK Ford Mondeo. A bigger car having the bigger engines inc. V6.

The Puma is smaller and based on the UK Ford Fiesta. Originally the Puma had a 1.4L or 1.7L VVT engine... and ofcourse there was the Ford Racing Puma (FRP). Later the 1.4 engine was dropped for a larger 1.6L

Do an image search for the cars above, you may recognise them as being called something different.

  • man i did this all but i did half ok then last one i did accedent.

  • Front wheel drive = cheap to build.

Notice how every decent car on earth is rear wheel drive?

  • so your saying front wheel drive cars are not decent eh... so what about this...Ferrari built a front wheel drive sedan back in mid 80's named Lancia Thema... are you saying that is not a decent car??? Mini's are front wheel drive cars... so your saying they are rubish too???and Mercedes Benz is planning on making a front wheel drive SLK... are you going to tell them its not going to be decent...hmmm??? cmon man...

  • Exactly. Not to forget the numerous decent AWD vehicles out there.

My little '04 Civic's not very cool or quick or exciting, but it's a great little car. Loves to be revved. Hasn't slipped up once in 2 years. I'd say that's enough to deem it "decent".

  • Minis are the gay icon of 2007. Im sure the Lancia was crap and SLK is a car for hair dressers.

  • What I said was FWD = Cheap to build and thats why such cars are produced.

Ferrari built one in the 80's? why didn't they build all Ferrari's FWD if it was so good.

All forms of Motorsport, F1, American oval racing, Speedway, circuit racing and the most powerful of the lot Drag Racing are all RWD.

The reason for this is the ability to put major power to the ground.

Any FWD with decent power suffers from torque steer and wheelspin due to weight transfer to the rear. The evidence is FWD is so gay.

  • hahaha... man you've got a very high standard for a decent car... so if your description of a decent car is all of what you are saying then i guess for you front wheel drive is crap... but for me... anycar will do... its up to the driver what he can do with what he has... like Tiff here for example... making this Puma look so cool with these stunts... Tiff doesn't look gay making those spins and turns in a FWD... so maybe its by opinion... peace man...!!!

  • BTW... the Ferrari powered Lancia stopped production because of company problems... not the car itself.. ferrari did not pursue the building of the car since they don't do sedans... but during its heydays many people in that generation loved the car, it was the first sports sedan that many modern FWD sedans of today try to follow...

  • @snifferenator not to mention understeer, which just plain sucks.

People, understand that although you can race with a FWD, having the same set of wheels do the steering and the power isn't half as good as a RWD.

  • I have a Ford Puma... Very good and cheap car !

    I love it very...

  • You Guys really crack me up im getting pretty tired of having to respond to your uncontrollable Testosterone.Listen lads my Eastrogen is about to KICK IN so do all a favour go knock one out in the bathrooom !

  • i have a mazda rx8 and an audi rs4 dirtbag

  • not a chicks car!

i've got an SV650 too! You probly rekon that's a chicks bie too

one thing is for sure, i am faster than you where it counts in the corners weather i'm on 2 wheels or 4

take your £10,000 a week and buy a bloody zonda r you show off

  • puma is a chicks car

  • Comment removed

  • only been driving my new puma for a couple of days

    best car ever driven

  • got meself a puma 1.7i few months now and its brill to drive fast rounds corners and on those long straights.

  • what a puma

  • that's srange...i keep thinking when you're in REVERSE....you should pull the handbrake (not step the foot pedal ) to get the car rotating back to foward direction....if you can imagine...pulling the handbrake whie going reverse and flicking the wheel is like a Pendulum effect. All the weight goes to the front, and the wheels help rotate it around. I guess you're suppose to lock the rear wheels either way...depending on your car direction...

  • not really partyboy.. the footbrake in a reverse flick is to lock the front wheels, so they loose traction and skid around the rear wheels which retain their traction

in a handbrake turn you lock the rear wheels (with handbrake) so they skid around past the fronts.. in a reverse flick it's exactly the opposite, where the front wheels have to lock in order for the front to swing around past the rear wheels. the front wheels are locked by slamming the footbrake and shifting weight back off them

  • why did u say that as a reply to my comment? what has that got to do with what i said and where is the need to swear?

  • Comment removed

  • don't try and get smart you fucking bitch first of all you don't need to own a puma to know how it handles, second of all how about i ask you again.. why did u reply "the car has traction control as standard" to me when i explained how to carry out a reverse flick? that makes no sense at all and is of no relevance to what i said maybe you should try explaining that before you try and patronise me

Also why would i even care if you are a "CHIC" or not?

  • Comment removed

  • i just got one. amazing little car. dont care if ppl say its hairdresser car. i dont drive it like a hairdresser does haha

  • i have wanted one of these cars for a couple of years now but have been put off 1st by insurance costs then by other people saying it is a hairdressers car!

i've never really agreed so within the next 2months i'll have one! :)

1.7cc but not sure about colour yet (not red)

blue, silver or black look best

  • Well said Tom. You just joined PumaPeople didn't you?

  • The most agile car you can get for £1,000 to £2,000. Tiff is a great driver and can make any car look good but Pumas are sporty little machines. Certainly no 'hairdresser's car' like all the men that have never even been in one say.

  • shuttit spice boy... put your scissors away and get a real car... like my clio :)

  • ha fuckin clio dats even worse dickhead!!!!

  • roy you little mook... jump in on someone else's chat. what are you in? apart from your mates bumper

  • fcuk u noofta...ha noofta wot tha fcuks dat ish??? stupid cunt!!

  • poofta, noofta, woofta you're all the same. wanka how about that. sit down shuttup carry on destroying your brain with skunk buds whilst wanking off to your family photo albums

  • how did u know? k thnx for givin me permission tho...stupid cunt

  • Sorry, but I'm sort of new to this and am still learning myself.

My guess would be to shift into neutral when entering the turn and shift into reverse only after the car has turned around.

  • How can you manage to go from first to reverse without grinding the gears?

  • Your not trying to do this with an automatic transmission are you?

  • No.

I'm talking about whenever your car's in first and as you shift into reverse as you pull a 180 on the handbrake. Is it possible to do this without grinding the gears?

And if I sound ignorant, then educate me.

  • Depends on the gearbox. Might not be possible at all without double clutching. Some gearboxes might want you to do the stick in the middle position before you go to reverse (which you usually pass anyway).

But anyway, you can try it when not moving with the car. And it makes a difference if the car is already moving backward (due to the spin), then it might be easier to put in reverse (depending on the mechanical block which doesn't allow you to put the gearbox in reverse when on the highway)

  • Never thought i'd see a front wheel car pull off a decent "drift", still nothing on rear wheel but fair doo's was good lol.

  • Well, I must say that I live in a veeery boring place, nothing but potatoe fields around here :D ... next "usable" parking lot is 15km (about 10 miles) away from here...

  • i did that in my puma when my girl firned wasnt expecting it i got batterd :( did it tho, ima proud!

  • extraordinario, sin palabras.very cool,great

  • With Puma all is possible!!

    I Love my puma!! :D

  • can this harm your vehicle?

I own a fiat panda and do this regulary on gravel!

I'm however afraid to ruin my nice little baby =)

are there dangers and what are they???

  • uhm, I think it won't be too good for the tyres... besides that you can crash into something... I got my driving license for 1 year and I won't try it that soon since I don't think I'm skilled enough yet, I would just crash into something :D.

  • yea but on gravel that should be all right. If you'd like to try I'd recommend to try it on a gravel parking lot!

I'm doing that almost daily and it is soooo much fun =)

    cost on gas of cause

  • too much handbrake turning can stretch your handbrake cable, making it looser. But that can be tightened by a mechanic or probably yourself if you know how. so it's not very risky. just be carefull with your gears when going backwards i guess.

  • I think Needles would be the perfect get-away driver! I'm fairly confortable with all the other techniques but i draw the line with the Scandinavian Flick on a front wheel drive!

  • Really nice video! If you learn these maneuvers, you can seriously impress your girlfriend! LOL!

  • yeah, its really a lol ;p

  • Does Tiff have Tourettes? He sure is hyper

  • Yes he does, on the right foot.

  • lol

  • OMG...What if the car doesn't slide, but roll??? How do you prevent rolling??

  • Its harder than you think to get a car to roll. Unless its an suv...then its far easier than you think

  • You need very uneven ground to roll a car, As KillerFridge said a SUV will roll like a ball..

  • @DCkster1 So if i flicked sharp left then sharp right at high speed, it won't roll will it ?

I think, if approach a turn at high speed and attempt the turn at high speed with a fast steer in, the sudden weight shift could topple a smaller car like a Fiat Cinquecento ? Its small wheels, narrow width and tall height in comparion, would cause one side to leave the ground, ending up on its roof.

Whereas, a nice wide car that is low to the ground is very difficult to flip unless you hit a hard bump?

  • niiiiiiiiice!

  • im gonna try this with my friends car first..

  • What was the name of the show from where this clip was taken?

    Thanks.

  • fifth gear on channel 5 in britain

  • Tiff Needell - Burning rubber [DVD]

  • Nice driving Skill! :-)

  • my mom got a ford puma haha

  • lol i got this dvd

  • awesome 10/10

    +)

  • I practiced these things when I was young and it made me a better driver I have had to use some of these maneuvers to avoid collisions sometimes you need to rely on skill when placed in a hazardous situation. I recommend renting a car like yours to practice this way if you make an error it is just the case of an expense rather than you loosing your car too long for repairs. Find in advance a place to practice on like he had. I always leave myself an out and fall back to drifting if I need to.

  • yeah, i agree, i normally practice in the macdonalds carpark lol.

Im being serious, it does make you a better driver, you can control skids more easily and calmly

  • I am 40 and an otr trucker in an industry that values safety. Should I get caught driving in this manner and it gets back to my company I would be terminated.

  • @cdltpx dam, who is your boss, the terminator ?

  • The cars that these guys use as demos should be reported to CarFax with Salvage titles.

  • I wouldn't wanna buy a used car that had been treated like this!

  • cool

  • I miss my old Puma :'(

  • polak jaja

  • Excelent

    =)

    Very nice!

Tomorrow practice with the Fiesta jeje

  • just the better ¡

  • Alright, well Ive got a '94 dodge caravan, and I wanna know if I can do this with it, Ive done some ripping around, but the whole little flicking the wheel into reverse is something I can only dream about. I have an automatic with a foot pedal ebrake. Can I do this!!!?

  • i would say it's possible but then again i dont wanna be responsible for u flipping ur van. i am gonna say wait til it rains the do about 25 turn left, quickly right, and mash the foot brake. that'll spin u in the right direction

  • its possible but the pedal ebrakes are long travel

    better take some brave pills!

  • have fun rolling your van

  • what an awesome driver dang son...

  • tiff has facial twitching issues

  • go tiff!!!

  • This car is very nice. It's a good car for young people who don't have enough money. In Poland ( this comment is from Poland ) people must work one year to buy this car, which has ten year old. ( sorry for my english ;-)
