BUT you have to consider that fictional characters are at the mercy of their creator, and are not subject to the same physical rules of recovery that you and I are. so his recovery is entirely dependent on the beatles, and what they think the story requires.

LASTLY (and i apologize for over-posting) but the root word of Revival is VIVA, which is latin for Life or To Live, so RE-VIVA is "Back to life", which makes more sense in physical terms. a "Religious revival" would mean that the religion itself was revived. BUT arguing about words is pointless, because you can interprate them however you like.

When someone uses the word "revival" in regard to religion, it means something different. It means to become enthusiastic about religion, God, the church, etc. In other words, restoring "life" to your religious beliefs.

Being that we are talking about a cowboy reading a bible, this means we are talking about a religious revival, not a sudden, unexplained medical one.

This is also a song done by The Beatles, who are known for using things like irony and sarcasm in their music.

It is art, but that doesn't mean that you can just insert whatever you like into the story. For instance, if I go around insisting that Mercutio rode around on a tyrannosaurus rex in Romeo and Juliet, I would be wrong. Yes, wrong. You can be wrong about art. In order to prove yourself right, you have to use textual evidence, and enter into a discussion about it.

You can't just throw a fit, wave your arms in the air, and say "it's art! It says what I want it to!" That's childish and dumb.

You're right about the editing, but I disagree with the interpretation.

When he said "doc, its only a scratch" it was probably Rocky just being a big, tough cowboy. You don't get scratched by being shot by a gun.

Also, Gideon's Bible is only a book. It can't revive you from a bullet wound. The only revival Gideon could have possibly given Rocky is a religious one, that is, shortly before he died in the hotel room.

I can understand that interpretation, I just think in the context of the song (which can be interpreted as being about forgiveness, a common theme in the bible) that his recovery in a physical sense parallels his being "saved" as bible-peeps call it.

The song is metaphoric, his vengeance is failure to forgive, and his wound is his awareness of his failure. so it stands to reason that the lesson of the song is to live and let live,
