@Vallandil95 well when you put it that way u incorrigible asshole but I will do the right thing and go no further for when it is your time to be judged you shall see the wrong of your ways
The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a womman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree. Makes perfect sense.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (July 3), we sang this as our closing hymn. It is #890 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
Rightousness is harder than injustice to hold, but I believe it is worth the effort of remembering and keeping the beautiful sentiments of hope, freedom, and love that inspired these tunes sung across the world.
To those who would basterdize God's gospel music with "the trampling of the zoo", they are the grapes of wrath who will be trampled out by the might of the Lord and the love of His children, those who keep His peace and love in their hearts.
Dear me. In my haste to battle ignorance and hate, I confused two beautiful gospel tunes. John Newton wrote Amazing Grace as his repentance and warning for slavery. The Battle Hymn of the Republic was born in churches and spilled onto the streets with John Brown's and others' questioning of and fighting against slavery. As the U.S. was torn apart on this matter, one Julia Howe, holding the vision of a free-to-all, united America, penned these now immortal lyrics.
Written by a former slave-ship captain-turned-Christian (John Newton) who wished to repent for the wrongs he had done to his black brothers, so he used the pentatonic scale he had heard them singing in and wrote these words as a warning of the second coming of God, who would smite the unholy, white men who would keep His children in chains as He brings all the colors of His children unto His holyness.
Pitiful that "men" would sing of HIs love as they spread hate.

Well its also known as "The Battle Hymm of the Republic" and was written at the time of the US Civil War. I think it was a favorite of abolitionists - note the line on "let us live to make men free."
Happy Sabbath, May God Bless you!

What a truly glorious song.
