  • you should add fre flying multiplayer

  • @sushimagushi2 That is in the design, will get to it eventually.

  • do you know any exagt date the game will come? please im dying to play :-P

  • @kirbycathy I am aiming for the next 'Indie Games Uprising' promotion, but the date for that has not been set yet. My guess would be March 2012. I might not make it though, it depends how much time I get to work on the game between now and then.

  • Didn't mean to add that one it :P

  • wait nvm about the ground..

  • Are you able to land on a tree or ground instead of just water? And is their like, multiplayer so we could Roleplay? :P

  • @Blu3star312 Please see my latest video (last part) for ground landings & golden nests. Perching in trees is not done yet but it is on the to-do list; there will be an award for managing to land the swan on a branch. Co-operative (free flight, island defence) and competitive (races & team battle) multiplayer is also planned.

  • @StargliderX Thank you for the information :D

  • I have a question that I asked a while ago. But it's more recent now.

Is it done? :3 I wanna play it :3 I will be your first beta tester... player.... person..... thing

  • @Tyreasus Unfortunately development is part-time at the moment so it is taking a while. I am making steady progress though, and in 'developer time' I would estimate there are four more videos to go before release. :)

  • @StargliderX Ooooh. So on average, when do you release videos -pry-

And... OMG YAY NOT FAR TO GO KEEP IT UP WOOT =3

  • ahh ok StargliderX

    thanks StargliderX

  • I would like to know

what did you use to build the graphics for the land ?

you can E-mail me at Resourceful @ shaw dot ca

  • @Cleasonsook The landscape is generated by the game engine, using a GPU-based procedural algorithm I made. The trees and roads are also procedural; tree mesh generation is based on the Ltrees library. I placed the buildings by hand using the in-game world editor.

  • Here's some good info.

Release date goal is early 2012, and for the computer, some later time.

  • This looks like some wonderful gameplay here... I love the fantasy elements. Will there be a freeplay mode where you can just fly around for fun/ practice?

  • @catwarriorsrock Yes, in fact when I land the swan in the middle of this video I am in free flight mode. I am currently adding hidden golden nests to free flight mode, which you can find and collect to unlock story and bonus art (for the in-game gallery). Free flight will also be available as an online multiplayer mode.

  • @StargliderX

Sounds awesome; I look forward to its release on the Xbox!

  • Maybe all the birds wuld look better if the wings were a bit thicker because when they are flying, it looks like pieces of paper. But, other than that, it's coming out amazing!

  • @xXSugarSplashXx Thanks. I'm not completely happy with the wing rendering, but unfortunately it's as good as it's going to get for now as I have to work on stuff for the story missions instead.

  • Looks like legend of the guardians

  • @TheBuzzbeeX I've gone in a different direction with the gameplay. The LotG games mostly use talon fighting at very close range and dogfights against similarly sized enemies. They have the usual fantasy 'point where you want to go' flight model. Windhaven's air combat uses uses long range magical attacks against giant monsters, plus some tower defence elements. It also has a much more realistic flight model that uses one stick for each wing, so flying itself takes some practice to master.

  • what will be the controls on the pc?? :)

  • @Erik1495 A dual stick controller (e.g. Xbox for Windows pad, PS3 pad etc) is strongly recommended. However if you really want you can play it with mouse and keyboard.

  • While watching this, I though "They're probably not working on this anymore" then I saw that this was posted just 3 days ago. It looks amazing! Are you putting it on XBLA? Too bad I don't have Xbox Live. Otherwise I'd download this as soon as you're finished. :D

  • @wolfspirit2278 Windhaven will initially be released on Xbox Live Indie Games, then hopefully on the PC at a later date.

  • Looking really good! Really really good!

I do have one complaint though... That ding/bell sound about 12 minutes in with the ring challenge. I personally find it pretty annoying, even from watching the videos, let alone playing the game myself.

    Otherwise, great stuff!

  • @RakkuAmiya The testers agree with you. I am looking for a better sound.

  • Will an Xbox controller be required, or just recommended?

  • @chisese On the PC, a dual-stick controller is strongly recommended (PS3 or third-party pad will work fine). With mouse and keyboard it is more like you are telling a bird where to go, instead of actually flying yourself. The main reason why I started Windhaven was that I was unsatisfied with the boring and non-engaging flight controls of existing fantasy flight games.

  • This is coming along SO well. From what I've already seen from playing earlier versions, this is going to be well worth the wait!

  • Will this game work with PC and XboX360 for Windows?

  • @TheKristal96 Yes. That is how I do most of the development.

  • Your is a good work, i've one suggest for your game, try to modify the Projection matix , i think you have a projection to MathHelper.piover4 try piover2..

  • @ilpisano4 Thanks. PiOver2 would be a horizontal field of view of 160 degrees! I know a few competitive FPS players use that, but it's highly distorting and would give most players motion sickness. Windhaven uses a base horizontal FoV of 90 degrees and a vertical FoV of 50 degrees. That's fairly conservative, but it's necessary to avoid shrinking distant objects too much. I actually narrow the FoV a bit when you fly fast for this reason.

  • @StargliderX Ah yes is correct narrow FoV when fly, overewer good work.

  • Looks epic. :D

What do you think the price range is going to be?

  • @ShadowWolfnr14 Windhaven will be 400 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360.

  • The game looks great. Keep it up!
