  • stoned..........can hear the familliar sound of the match getting struck.......

  • lol this is kewl...I've never heard this before...totaly sweet...gotta love it when their NOT doing a perfect recording...then you can really feal their souls

  • Where can i listen to the first song? is it recorded properly?

  • where'd you get this from? is there a download link?

  • You should change your description on this, it's very incorrect :3

  • They should have make an album together.

  • Watch the video for the song India by The Beatles and at 2:27 you see Donovan with The Beatles.

Or just replace that as the end of your link /watch?v=zzltijILEfA&NR=1

  • Paul, see you on Sunday. Donovan, thanks for your 90-minute clincher today. Beautiful, the pair of you.

  • It's so nice when you hear Paul comfortably fall into Blackbird, and then you hear Donovan say something like "yeah, that's beautiful"

And my goodness, Lelena is such a lovely tune.

  • I have these they are awesome

  • God Bless Ya Donovan!

  • Peace & Love,

  • I find it funny that Paul said he sang his song Blackbird to Diana Ross, and she took offense to it. Although he didn't mean it at all....LOL

  • Omg, thanks sooo much for this post (both part i and ii). I LOVE Donovan, and Paul McCartney is great!! Possibly my new fav vid :)

  • They were friends of Yoko.

  • You know what I would really love to hear? Atlantis and Hey Jude remix by these Paul and Donovan.

  • Lovely "lalena" on this...

  • I disagree with some of the info...Donovan and Paul were friends at least from 1967 as Paul sings in Donovan's Atlantis and allegedly in Mellow Yellow(The whispering part). Also in Rishikesh, Donovan learned the fingerpicking to John as John was keen on learning.Paul said he pretended not to pay attention but he tried to catch some techniques from Donovan(Anthology)

  • thanks for the comment mate. i'm not sure what you are disagreeing with though...

  • Were my English so bad? :S

Well I meant to say that

1-Paul and Don knew each other before Rishikesh(in fact somewhere 1967)

2-Donovan taught only to John fingerpicking techniques...

I think this time it's better.English is not my native language...:S

  • nono, your english was fine. you are probably right about knowing don earlier, but paul definitely learned fingerpicking around that time. blackbird and parts of mother nature's son are examples of travis picking.

  • xD travis=clawhammer or they are different styles?

  • ya i think theyre different. i've got a friend that plays bluegrass and he knows clawhammer. travis is just chord shapes with picking, instead of a classical style.

  • "clawhammer" styles differ between England and USA - just to let you know.

  • awaag: I am late to this conversation. Travis picking is a style named after Travis, but existed earlier. It is the technique of playing alternating base note with the thumb, while independently picking melody with the fingers.

  • @TEB1952 that's a good definition for a textbook, but i think any guitar player would understand it as just finger picking chord shapes. and thinking about it now, i don't think i would be able to pick the bass strings (low e, a) with any finger other than my thumb.

  • @awaggenspack : Much picking over a chord is either a repeating pattern, or does not emphasize the bass - claw hammer is an example of a repeating pattern. Travis maintains the bass beat, while independently picking melody notes. The low E , A and D are picked with the thumb.

  • @TEB1952 ugh ok man. i've been fingerpicking for 15 years, i know what travis is, i'm think you do too. but it's a very practical style and your definition makes it sound more difficult than it is. of course the thumb plays the bass, which other finger could? of course the fingers pick out the melody, otherwise it would be strumming. it is a very clever style, but is much simpler than people make it sound.

  • @awaggenspack : Thats great. You have matered it. I admire you. I can do an alternating bas as pasrt of a pattern pick, but I still struggle with true Travis picking. I do use my finger to pick the D string when I do a cross pick roll, but I don't think anyone would do that when Travis picking. Anyway, it sounds like you have some serious skills. I would love to hear you play acoustic guitar.

  • Thanks!Wonderful off-the-cuff music making.

  • These are really great! Thanks so very much for posting!

    Peace & Love,

    Olivia
