  • I am so curious to know whats in your Itunes! I love all the songs you post. Reminds me of House music, I LOVE it.

  • i mean this is a really great and informative video. I'm always learning from you and suggest everyone view your vids. they are the best~

  • @Kimmay

I'm new to ur channel and i'm loving it simply because you take the time to explain in FULL detail why you use a product and the effects it has on our hair. I too have been natural for 3 yrs this October but my hair isn't nearly as long as yours hopefully if I keep watching and applying your techniques mine will grow out longer than what it is now (shoulder length)

  • This was my first video I ever watched and I've been subbed ever since.

  • Hey Kimmay! I bought my rod sets and received them in 3 days. Thanks for the great service! I hope my twist rod set comes out as nice as yours.

  • I saw on your channel, under the recipe for your leave-in conditioner, which I love, that it is to be applied to wet freshly washed hair. However, I do as you show here and apply it to not only after washing but any time I wet my hair to moisturize. Has there been an update?

  • I love you hair, your knowledge and your approach to everything you do. You have a goal, and you use steps to work towards it. I just have a question, as you know, there are several naturals on youtube who heat-train. Many of them have also been able to achieve length. What are you thoughts about these people? What is the science behind their length maintenance?

**I do not wish to heat-train my hair, I appreciate my natural kinky state.

  • I'm officially going natural but I need the recipe to the leave in conditioner

  • Hey sweetie how did you do your conditioner, do you have a video that shows how to do it YOURSELF?

  • i'd wish i found this channel three months ago before perming my hair after having it natural for over four years arg... i'm transitioning but i'm annoyed at the two textures feel like really getting my big chop now.....

  • Does anyone have any good youtubes that have protective styles for 4b hair that is <4inches long. This length is a bit challenge to set a leave alone for a whole week for me. Thanks

  • What is the name of that song you have playing in the background?

  • after watching a few of ur vids i decided i am gonna go natural

  • U have a lovely spirit! Thanks for sharing your style and help black women feel better about themselves

  • it would be wonderful if u would just sell that conditioner , jar it up yourself and sell because i dont want to order all those products!

  • WAH Ter

  • I have enjoyed watching your video . I am very appreciative of the time and effort you put forth to give good quality information. Keep it up.

  • You need your own show on cable!

  • I love watching your videos b/c they are SO informative!! It is also a pleasure to see how pleased you are with your accomplishment of maintaining healthy hair and acquiring length!!

  • I so love the goody barrettes, they really do an awesome job

  • God bless you on takin the time to making these videos and actually explaining the science behind it and why its important to moisturize and have the right ph in out hair care products i just did the BC 2 months ago and feel a little bit more confident in retiring weave XOXOXO former weaveaholic and embracing the real me

  • @ kimmaytube I have short hair, 4 1/2", would that be a good idea to rod my hair

  • you are sooo beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great job

  • hi kimmay i'm a new subscriber. i love your videos they're very informative! keep them coming!

  • Your Hair is so cute!

  • very informative and great instructions!

  • what do you put in your leave in conditioner. love the hair and thanks for sharing the videos!

  • That is a very beautiful style, so natural. I am wearing dreads and am thinking about taking them down. I want a new style like yours natural and not having to pull and comb my hair out. I want a styles that grows my hair. Thank you very much for your videos. God bless you.

  • what does your homemade leave in conditioner have in it? im just starting my natural hair path and I cant really afford all these organic shampoos and conditioners and things... Im looking for stuff i can make at home or maybe cheaper things at the store... if anyone has tips for me lemmee know =)

  • orphan strands.....lol. i know about that ha

  • i love your accent when you're saying " et voila ! "

  • youre so darn cute ^_^ love the hair ma'am!

  • You are so pretty! well im 14, and ive been natural my whole life so i think i might try this hairstyle :]

  • FANTASTIC! Your tutorials are wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing!:)

  • This was an absolute pleasure to watch, you're very clever the way you gradually create a piece of art on your head lol.

I found this bit quite relaxing to watch, i find braiding hair, sewing and knitting very relaxing activities to watch - have no idea why!

  • Hi Kimmay! I just learned about hydrogen bonds in my Anatomy and Physiology class, and you are absolutely correct. Thank you for sharing such in depth information.

Also, I saw on your other vids that you mentioned Cathy Howse's book , and I agree with you about her genius common sense approach. A lot of her ideas are so "common sense" that I wondered why I hadn't thought of it before. LOL (I purchased her book a few years ago.) Thanks again for your information. I find it very helpful.

  • hello mrs. kimmaytube, love your channel. where did u get the ponytail from?

  • hydrogen bonds in our hair are broken by water? im still trying to figure this one out. how can H2O break a H bond?

  • Hi shannanwhite,

The formula of water (h20) consists of 2 Hydrogen atoms & one Oxygen atom.

The shape of your hair strand is held together by hydrogen bonds. When water is introduced to the hair, the hydrogen bonds go into a frenzy & your hair is temporarily destablized/ limp/ malleable

until all of the activity has calmed down (reformed bonds/ dry hair)

Hair is also held together by disulfide bonds. However these are stronger & require chemicals (like hair relaxers) to break.

  • so jealous of your hair length : . (

  • @skinnybishiwish

Me from 5 years ago is jealous of my length too! :o) Cause I never thought I could grow longer hair.

But I'm gonna keep talking about it until everyone believes that they can grow longer hair by preserving it and keeping it moisturized to prevent breakage. :o)

  • Ohhhmyygosh...I have learned soooo much in such a short time from watching your channel. I'm extra excited about moving forward in caring for my hair in its most natural state. I can't wait to check out your site when it's up and running! Best of luck!

  • Hi stickibuns!

Awesome! That is my goal. I share this information because I believe everyone should know about it. We all have hair!

Thank you so much for the love and support. I'm very excited about the launch. Actually, I'm working on the site right now. ;o)

  • Thanks for explaining the hydrogen bond factor behind wetting our hair. I have never been a fan of twisting while wet, but now I understand why and I am going to give it another try.

Thanks for all the time and hard work you put into your videos...hummm somebody is a Type A. :-)

  • @Giggra

No problem. My pleasure. LoL, somebody is VERY Type A. I have a Napolean complex too. Cause I'm short! haha! :o)

  • 5' 2" right here. Yeup, I know all about it.

  • Kim how long have you been natural ?

  • 13 years total if you subtract that one time I got a texturizer and wound up cutting my hair off again. So the hair you see is about 3 years old. :0)

  • do you have a video on protective styles you do in the fall and winter?

  • @Ame2020v

Yes, they will be uploaded during the week of Feb 14th when LUV Naturals launchs. I'm showing them with hair accessories.

In the meantime, two strand twists, or braids buns, pretty much any style with the ends tucked in are considered protective styles. These styles protect the oldest part of the hair (the ends) from breaking off which equals more growth,

    :0)

  • are you going to do a video showing how you make your special hair conditioner because i would love to try it....iv'e been looking for the perfect leave in but i doubt i will find one so i prefer making one

  • Luv that hair clip

  • Good video. I would luv to wear more protective styles but its hard for me to wear them because I teach school and my twists do not look good enough. What other P.S. do u suggest? Also have u ever tried henna?

  • @flyychic23 I have the same problem!!

  • @flyychic23

Why do you think that your twists aren't good enough? What are you using to twist your hair? And are you twisting them neatly (as in separate strands all the way down, not "borrowing hair" as commonly done with braiding)?

That could be the problem. Most people use Shea butter mixed with some type of oil (olive, jojoba coconut).

I have no interest in trying henna.

  • Well I guess my twist aren't good enough bcause I do borrow hair. I am working on this and I know I need to practice twisting neatly. I use shea butter mixed with coconut oil or evoo. I read your reponse to a henna ? on another video. I didn't know henna was permanent in your hair. I thought it was just used as a good conditioner.

  • @flyychic23

    Yeah, twisting just takes practice.

Henna is actually a dye molecule that binds itself to the protein in the hair. This is one of the reasons people experience "thicker" hair or a loosened texture. But the downside is that this newly thickened hair may be the reason the hair dries out. I'd rather pluck my gray hairs out than apply henna (for now at least). lol.

  • Rating are a small price for your subbies to pay since you invested 60 hours into making this video! You deserve 5s all the time.

  • To Haitian1130,

    *HUGS* lol.

I really appreciate your comment. :0)

  • Looking forward to buying your conditioner.

  • Kimmay, girl...I am loving your hair. Seriously, you must have some magic hands and portions because those twists are so juicy. Love Love Love!

  • hey kimmy, absolutely love your hair. I want to know what does your home made conditioner consist of???

  • I would like to thank you for posting your simple regimen I use it and already my hair has retained some length I will be trying this style soon thank you again.

  • Very commercial but I luv! I was in the middle of rod curling my hair half way through and then I watched this and I had to take them out. I'm half natural half permed so I'm hoping this comes out as good as yours did. btw I love the way you do your videos like real tutorials. like your actually taking your time to make it more convenient and understandable for the viewers keep it coming love, your videos are bad as in good. and your hair looks phenominal.

  • @duyuctaz Im the same half and half and i have been wearing wigs I have a question how do your twists and rod sets and othere natural styles come out mine just come out straight lol unless i put gel on it and i hate gel any suggestions?

  • Hi Kim,

How do you feel about vegetable glycerin use on hair?

  • @GooGoo32

I think vegetable glycerin is great. I use it in the summer time. I swear by it in the summer in order to soften my hair.

But I haven't used it this winter. Apparently, glycerin will pull moisture (water) from the hair if the outside air is not humid enough.

I'm not saying "don't use it in the winter", I just wouldn't use it alone. I would apply a light coating of shea (or some other oil like jojoba, on top) :0)

  • I really like how you have very detailed information in your info box. Thank you for putting time and effort into your videos.

  • Very nice! Can't wait to see your video about finance and marriage, which i hope comes out soon! I hope u share the leave in conditioner ingredients as well : ) Share the love Sista! haha...5 Stars!

  • Love it!!! I keep rating, and rating and rating! Your videos are great! I'm loving all the chages. God bless!

  • cute shirt....the cream/tan-ish one... where'd ya get it?? lol

  • @sugardumplin15

Arden B. 5 years ago. The info is in the description box of fashion show part 2.

  • You permanently "smile with your eyes"! So pretty

  • @purplegal05

Such a sweet comment, thank you! :0)

  • okay.... what was that you was mixing up in the bowl, i want to know? it looked eatable ;>

  • Kimmay...where did you get those divine hair clips...the brown ones.

  • @acmdu89

Bought the barrettes at my local grocery store's hair aisle. They're made by Goody, but nearly impossible to find online. Try Wal-mart.

  • Kimmay kimmay kimmay....LOVE this series : ) and I am in LOVE with your logo for Luv Naturals! Be sure that I will be checking it out when it debuts! Keep up the GREAT work chica!! : ) *Mae*

  • Kimmay I really love your hair! Do you have a tutorial for your home-made hair conditioner?

  • Another question out of curiosity...do you have those short/shorter pieces throughout your head? I have these short pieces of hair in various places and I'm sure my hair isn't breaking. My thought is these are new hairs that have grown from shed hair follicles. What do you think???

  • @empressm6

Yes, it is new hair. Hair sheds and then re-grows. So it has to start from somewhere. Everyone has short hair mixed in with longer hair. It's just more noticable with black kinky textured hair that curls. I made a video about this already, something about "hair freak outs no more and broken vs. shed hair."

  • Ok thank you madam :)

  • Comment removed

  • Kimmay, do you also plan to make products for the LUV naturals line or just accessories and such? I know you're a busy woman but I would try just about anything you put in your head lolol bc your research is thorough.

  • I can't wait to reach your twist's length. Beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • That leave-in looks like yogurt or even vanilla pudding, so yummy! I want some ;)

  • @KinkyKurlyQueen I agree!! lol

  • As always, excellent job!

  • @BNFocused

    aw, thank you! :0)

  • Hands down the production of your videos are the BEST, as far as natural hair vids go!! I felt like I was watching an infomercial or something...lol. Only thing missing was the SHAMWOW!!

  • @KinkyKurlyQueen

    LOL! Thank you.

My motto is this "work as hard for yourSELF as you do for others". I will be pulling out all the marketing tools to promote LUV Naturals. :0)

p.s. I bought that Shamwow- Wow, what a scam! LOL!!!

  • Your videos are ALWAYZ so well produced! You give definitely give me inspHAIRation! Love it!

  • @NicholJoharie

    Thanks! :0)

  • 5 Star love your video

  • @kimbooo1

Thank YOU so much for rating! :0)

  • hi kimmay, i was totally blown away by how long your hair grew! can't wait to be that versatile with my own locks as well. question: how long have you been natural and how do you retain length soo well ?

  • your hair is so pretty

  • @labatimamzelle

    Thank you! :0)

  • no problem, you're an inspiration

  • Im not surprised at the amount of time you spend creating videos. The editing, music and research demonstrate your attention to detail and creativity!!! ****Insert Applause***** I REALLY APPRECIATE your time and talent! I always rate natural hair care videos. YouTube needs to know of our presence!!!!!!!

Im also a fan of Fleurtzy! She has gorgeous hair and is such a good teacher!

  • Why do so many people need to see your hair straight? Isn't it gorgeous enough as it is? This is why I don't straighten my hair...last time I did it everyone acted like I'd parted the Red Sea. *smdh*

Kimmay, whatever you're doing, it's working for you...and I don't just mean your hair. Watching your videos has me even more determined to lose all my weight this year. So keep on doing what you do...and I will keep an eye out for your new online store. :)

  • Great video 5 Stars!! Can't wait to watch the other parts, oh and thanks for posting a link to another natural hair guru. I'll be sure to check her out.

  • Kim, if its taking you 60hrs to do HIGH QUALITY videos...we can live with lesser quality lol. Girl, its not that deep and I think we could forgo some quality in exchange of quantity lol

  • wow your hair grew super long!! i want long hair and a pop youtube too!! sheesh. jus stop wearing natural hair and started to wear hair it pressed cuz i thought it would help it grow. help please!!!

  • As always your videos are professional, informational and just great :)

Also, thanks for giving us a little bit of insight on how much time you spend on making your videos. Its easy to forget that it takes time and effort to make and post videos on YouTube and the least we can do is to rate it.

Do you ever straighten your hair or plan to straighten your hair?

  • @veeney802

aw, thank you for those kind words! :0)

Yeah, I think lack of gratitude is why you see lots of Youtube ladies disappear for extended periods of times. We all do it for hobby.

Nope. No plans to straighten my hair. No desire to see it straight either. Well, not enough to see all of my hard work in preserving my hair go up in smoke (literally). lol.

I've seen enough "omg, my hair won't revert back!" videos on Youtube. I'll take their word on it. :-)

  • Thank you for sharing , it's obvious that you put much effort and love in making these videos.

Your work is truly appreciated !!!

  • @stylenshoot

    Thank you! :0)

  • im want to make a home made moisturizer what is in yours?

  • I would like to see you in straight pressed hair.

  • @Misshaircare2009

You all won't be seeing me *frying* my hair anytime soon. lol. I have no interest in straightening my hair. Not even curious about it. Heat damage is nothing to play with. I've seen enough people ruin their hair. I'll pass.

  • Wow....60 hours, thats a lot of work. Your videos are great. You make me want take down my sisterlocks.

  • @chemese1908

Sisterlocks are GORGEOUS! Don't do that. lol. There is so much versatility for them as well.

  • Wow your hair has grown a lot. I love love love the texture. Can't wait to see whats next.

  • You put so much heart into your videos and that is why I get so excited once you post a new one. The Twist Rod Set looks so feminine yet classy. :)

  • Let me say you are so intelligent, talented, and beautiful! This is a wonderful tutorial. I do not have hair long enough to do most of your tutorials. However, your videos are so entertaining I just keep watching and rating anyway. Rock on!

  • I can't wait until the new website is opened. Secondly, I can't believe you spend so much time making and editing videos, but that's why they're so darn good! I appreciate you and your advice so much...you reinforced my decision to go natural. And lastly, I appreciate your helpful post about donating money. It's a shame that some people take advantage of horrible situations, but doctors without borders will get what i can donate. PS: are those hair clips from your website? I neeed them now :)

  • I soooo love your videos!!!! very informative and appreciate the time you take out!!!

  • LUV it!!!

  • Woooow Kimmay!! Your hair is mad long!!! You have been doing an EXCELLENT job!! I can't wait for your website!! I'm rooting 4 u girl!!! Go Kimmay, Go Kimmay!!!! I used 2 be a cheerleader too!!

  • hey kimmay. love ur vids. as a request, could you show us the process of straightening ur hair? it seems like its really grown alot and i would love to see how long it really is. ur an inspiration to me. :))

  • @Kadeja89

I will not be straightening my hair anytime soon.

    1) I don't care for straight hair

    2) I have no interest in damaging my hair. No matter how many precautions one takes, heat damage is *always* a possibility.

I'm working on a dvd and book about hair.

I can't make videos and demos with fried damaged hair. No way am I going to ruin my hair now. To me, its not worth the risk.

Besides, my husband only likes my natural texture. He saw it straight 3 yrs ago, wasn't impressed.

  • @ Kadeja89

Plus I know how long it is. All I have to do is give it a lil' tug. lol. ;-)

  • Okay, I understand. Thanks for responding so quickly. I'm natural also, with 4a/b texture. I straighten my hair once maybe twice a year. I'm scared of the heat damage also. Newayz, your videos are helping me on my hair journey. Thank you! :))

  • @Kadeja89

No problem. I tell you this. I've noticed a difference in the hair of *every* single natural whose straightened her hair (well, those that do it a lot especially).

But some folks have had some close calls. Like hair not reverting back to curly. That's all I needed to see. I'll admit, I don't know enough about the specifics about what happens when heat straightens the hair. I'm not sure if cuticle layers are burnt off forever or if only salt bonds are broken temporarily.

  • I've seen Fleurtzy's video on this style and I LOVE her videos, blog and hair...she's great. Wow, your hair has really taken off. Your sets at the beginning of the video were very pretty. Thanks for taking out the time to do these tutorials! I can't wait for the launch of your site.

  • @levone5121

Isn't she bad? I LOVE her channel. She doesn't have nearly enough subscribers to match her talent and knowledge. I will do all that I can to promote her. She took a little break, but now she's back.

You are welcome for the videos. MY PLEASURE. I mean that. Comments like these motivate me more than you all could ever know.

Woohoo! I'm so excited about this new venture. SO excited.

  • I agree with levone...When i get a minute to "check in" on youtube, I'm specifically looking to see if you have a new video!!! My 3 year old daughter watched your fashion show with me, and now she thinks she's a model! I luv it!! can't wait for your new site to launch!!

  • Oh my gosh!! i'm so excited for that recipe for the leave-in moisturizer. i hope you decide to share when you find the formula. i'm working on finding something that works for me. p.s. love you and your videos

  • @Adrienne21B

LOL. I thought about sharig it, but do you know how many people are SELLING their own concoctions? I'll tell you, a LOT.

    lol.

No way am I helping anyone to make money off of me. Enough people have done that. Yes, even my Youtube videos. Companies have USED my videos to sell products. No lie.

Kimmay is NOT having it! LOL ;-)

  • @kimmaytube LOL girl i completely understand. well if you ever decide to sell it i'll buy it ^_^ lol

  • OMG! your hair has really grown alot since i have been watching and rating your videos, which was the beginning of 09' summer. two thumbs up!

  • @mslucy09

    THANK YOU! :-)

  • Your hair has grown like crazy

  • @TashaGreat

It has never been this ling in my entire life. I once believed long hair was all about genetics, etc.etc. But it REALLY is so simple. Actually so simple it's amazing to me that no one has really shown people how simple it is, without any great expenses at all.

In fact, growing our hair is cheaper than all of these products we buy to style it. LOL!

  • Chello!! The videos you make are great!! Please tell me what are protective styles? Thanks in advance...

  • @pineapplesinla

Protective styles are pretty much any style that protects the ends of your hair from the elements that wear and tear on our hair. Two strand Twists tucked in, Buns, Tuck and Rolls, etc.

  • Love the hair accessories too! Will you be selling the banana clips as well? Heading over to Miss Fleurzty's channel. Thanks for this tut.

  • @feecollins

You won't regret it. She's been on Youtube much longer than I have. She just took a break but now she's back.

What I live about her channel is that she tries new things. I think everyone should get a variety of tips from MANY sources!

Yes. I will be selling banana clips of different sizes. All hair accessories featured in this video will be available when LUV Naturals launches. Everything that I know and love for my hair will be on the site. Stay tuned. :-)

  • I don't usually comment on videos but I must say that you videos are very refreshing. I look forward to them and I save them for last to watch. If that makes any sense. Keep up the excellent videos and I am anxiously waiting for more.

  • @JessicaDee1987

Aw, thank YOU!!! Don't forget to rate. The majority of us work for RATINGS! lol.

So glad to have you here. This is my standard. Expect nothing less than the best I can give, because you ladies deserve it. :-)

  • @kimmaytube Thanks for responding so quickly. I absolutely make sure to rate videos, especially natural hair related videos. As a matter of fact, I come back to the videos to rate 2 or 3 times. lol. Just showing support for all the naturals on Youtube and them taking the time to make a video to educate us viewers.

  • @JessicaDee1987

    I LOVE YOU!

    LOL! :-D

  • wow your hair GREW soo much!

  • @jemy1415

Yup. It trips me out. It's amazing how basic care can really help to retain length.

My hair has NEVER been this long.

  • where did you get the two hair things you used at the end to put ur hair in pony tails

  • @naturallynewme

They are made by Goody. But unfortunately can only be found in limited stores. Very hard to find.

They're part of their new "Ouchless" collection.

Fortunately for you all, I just got access to Goody's entire hair accessory catalog and am now an approved distributor. :-D

  • please please let me know when we can get them they seem like a good product thank you

  • @naturallynewme

Februrary 14th! I'm placing my orders tomorrow. I love these barettes.

If they hadn't designed the perfect barette, I would have done so myself. But finally, somebody got smart. :-)

  • THANK YOU for saving me the trouble of asking this question! Kimmay, I too will be ordering these from you soon.

  • you are welcome
