The Union becomes ineffective when they are not representing the 'people'. This has become a power play between the Union leaders and the party. What is good for the people of NSW that is the question. What you are all missing here is that Iemma was prepared to 'go down' for what he believes, took guts to do what he did...knowing full well he could be out of a job immediately. Give him credit for making a stand and lets see now what he can get done with the means. This is leadership!
Lifeisbeautiful660-You're joking right?Leadership? He was prepared to 'go down' but didn't have the guts to take this to the people just over 12 months ago!In fact,he sent at least 1 letter to the ETU? prior to March '07 election, stating that privatisation WOULD NOT HAPPEN.He's looking after HIS future-sell of these assets, get a job with Macquarie Bank?the buyer of NSW Electricity, take his fat pension & piss off!It doesn't take guts to sell out the people!

Firstly it isn't a total sell off the government will still own the infrastructure. Secondly, he has no choice given the energy situation. Thirdly, Carr made the same attempt in his power and the power hungry union voted against it, and now we will be getting much less for the retail sale. We are worse off as the Union didn't put the people first. If we paid our leaders at the same level as their private counterparts ie. Bankers etc then they wouldn't have to rely solely on their fat cheque!
Lifeisbeautiful66-Not referring to Macquarie Bank boss I hope? When you add up a backbencher's salary, plus mobile phones,laptop,petrol/travel allowances, meals, support staff etc, hefty electoral allowances, increases of up to 14% each year, plus the best super package, they're doing OK!Serve 3 terms, pension for life! What other worker gets that?
Man I'm a member of the ALP but this video is spot on,the NSW Labor government is stuffed. Problem is there is no good alternative. As they say when you have a weak opposition you have a weak government.
I dont blame Morris Dillema at all, i blame the DICKHEADS, that CLEARLY DONT CARE, WHO THEY VOTE FOR!!!! As the video shows, Morris has 20 odd % popularity, yet people still vote LABOUR. BAD hospitals/roads/justice system/planning laws/taxes/rates etc, ALL STATE LABOUR responsibilitys. Shame on you NSW voters.
ttmor-Yes, Debnam! One redeeming feature though? He doesn't agree with selling of NSW Electricity?Oh well, they say every one has at least 1 redeeming feature! He resigned rather than agree with it.I admire THAT!
Morris looks great in a toothbrush, and boy does he fire up! Of course he is right about his caucus colleagues, they are a bunch of dills. I always thought Mick Costa had modelled himself on Mussolini, that lovely, misunderstood Italian bloke who was also an excellent treasurer before he became addicted to bullying people.
Should others put a funny video about paedofile ex-ministersor public servants and their ALP left (or right win Liberal connections depending on who is the culprit)? Poor taste has not frontiers and obviously an alleged ALP membership card is not an insurance against it.

I agree with this depication of the Labour Party, but what movie is this spoofed from?
vitali57 3 years ago
The movie is called 'the downfall', i think, depicting hitler's last days in his underground shelter.
This scene is often depicted in parodies might i add.
