@LaureenBrody Thanks for clearing that up. That description has bothered me ever since I saw the video first posted. This whole album is fucking amazing though! I wish Oxygen had sounded more like it.
@LaureenBrody If you know Joe, I got some old pic's from the early 80's, from Screamer Patrol (I think) at The Rock Pile, near Barton and Parkdale, Hamilton.
I saw this video in 1993 when Headbanger's Ball was hanging out with Pantera, long before it was on Beavis and Butt-head! I immediately went out and bought the cd!
I have their full lenghth C.D. "Prototype" which was put out 1993 on BMG Records (a huge record label that didn't promote this band's stuff, fuckers). The c.d. remind's me of the band Testament [older stuff]. Joe Varga is the lead vocalist's and is where the name comes from. This band is entirely from Canada and could have easily rivaled Metallica back in the 90s, if you ever heard their c.d. prototype. Their second album was different and not as good. However, they are all great musicians.
@monsterviolence Hell yeah. saw them twice in concert. I remember writing to them, to this day the only band that I have. They wrote back and sent me a ton of free shit, fucking class act, and prototype is still in my playlist on a weekly basis.
@monsterviolence Yeah Prototype is awesome! I don't agree that it sounds anything like Testament though. They've got a more industrial slower sound with obvious influences from bands like Alice in Chains and Prong. Testament play fast thrash, nothing like Varga. The song 'film at eleven' sounds like something from Megadeth's 'Peace Sells'! I disagree that they'd have rivalled Metallica. They're both totally different styles plus Varga only had one good album and even that had a few crappy songs.
just found this album used the album prototype for 1 dollar didn't know the band but decided to buy it and they kick major ass they really remind me of prong
Recently, I saw the video of Greed on Beavis and Butthead. It was awesome. And so, for the past 2 days, I've been looking for this artist everywhere. There's apparently a decent in the band because I found a bunch of crap not only on youtube but on the rest of the internet. However, there's nothing on Limewire or Frostwire or even iTunes. Does anyone know where I can get songs or an album by Varga?
Dan Fila, the drummer for this band is my Guitar teacher at school in Burlington. He's awesome, and he's got amazing stories about the old days in Varga.
This is such a fucking quality tune! First heard this on Beavis & Butthead, and randomly found the album (Prototype) in a record shop bargain bin over 10 years ago! Awesome album from start to finish - fuckin love it!
AWW MAN! This is the song I heared on Beavis and Butthead when I was a kid. I've been looking for this song for fucking years! Thanks so much for fucking posting this on here!
Awesome vid. Say hi to Joe, Dan & Adam...hehehe. You all remember me from 1986 in Varga.....we played at the doublerinks in Hamilton, Ontario....awesome turnout too. Prototype smokes.....get that CD by Varga. :)
Cool! Say Hi to Dan for me. He'll remember me from the Guitar Clinic, back in the day. Get him to post the music on Limewire or somehting, so we can download it.
Somewhere along the line Joey lol i even saw the first shows in school and later went to glendale and saw you grow, well I'Ve become one of those music freaks to Thanks from all the snare drum beats you tapped on me on delawana dr (teenage years) Dan
Dan Fila - the drummer - taught me music theatre in high school back in 2000-2001. I still remember him coming into class one day all excited that his band was featured on Beavis and Butthead, he was flipping through TV the night before and managed to record most of it. Haha, the long hair! He was an awesome teacher!
ah the good old days - I used to work for them..they had several videos and 3 albums...if you can find their first...Wargasims...it will blow you away!
gotta love having one of them as your teacher (:
