driving it on a keyboard is a little different than real life... no g-forces, no bumps in the road, no adrenaline - on rfactor all u need is the racing line and u can pretty much match the pro's times - real life tho... hahaha - hamilton don't earn £10,000,000 a year for nothin

Not really, if the creators made the game to be realistic like Gran Turismo 5. Then you can't go faster than what is possible in real life, unless you actually are better than that driver. It's hard to explain. Can learn how to drive in a game no problem, it's the feel of driving a car you can't get.

Because , maybe if you feel even better how the car is near to his limits you can drive better than in a game where you have only visual informations.

Exactly, games can't tell you what the car is about to do, it can only simulate it, which is never the same. In real life a skilled driver can feel when the car is nearing it's limits, you can't do that in a game, you will never have that same kind of feel. In a game.

Very true. I can only compare go karts in reality and in gaming. but i can deffinately say driving karts in reality is easier because there is a deffinate feedback through the brakes and steering.

If the physics are accurately modeled you are correct to an extent. But what you don't look at is the fact that when you crash a car in a game you just restart the race and off you go. In reality if you a crash a car, well you crashed your car. This enables people to push it to limits that would simply be too unsafe in reality.

True, but would you really be brave enough to go to that same extensive limit in a car, on a real track, or closed mountain road? When I play Forza 2 or Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, I don't feel nervous. I just feel like I'm driving around. In reality, I would have to conquer several barriers set by my brain that causes fear to push it as hard as I do in games. So would you ever go as far as being able to crash your car on a track without having the needed practice to know when you're going too far?

That video of rFactor whilst looking graphically good, did not look good at all, in terms of motion; it looked as though he was driving a Fiat Uno around the track. GP4's graphics look cartoony in comparison, but the physics are a million miles better.
