This happens to me all the time, its driving me mad. I think its a Latency problem, whether its steam or whether its your ISP provider Im not sure :(

All i can say, that it Depends on server and you l4d2 Mood. Im playing now without any disturbance at all! Everything is normal... Also sometimes when this shit happends you can get out of it by simply waiting a little bit. It helps for me.

For me it seems to happens to all Source based games, others games on steam runs fine, but every valve game have this problem, i tried nearly everything, but i think the problem is whit the steam and the router, but i haven't had the time to check this

try changing the router, see what happens

Guys the only way to fix this problem is to get new router or modem, i tryed everything, console commands for lerp,ping tralala and nothing works so i called my internet operaters and they chaged my router, now everything works just fine with no dc problems.

Except there is nothing wrong with my router it works normally for other games. And before advising to others go get a new router by yourself.

I get this all the time. I even get it with some other games ( killing floor) I have no idea what it is given that it does manage to connect to the server.

What's more annoying with left 4 dead 2 is that the timeout dialog for 30 seconds DOESNT ALLOW YOU TO CANCEL IT. FORCES YOU TO SIT THROUGH IT. FFS interface is SHT

I was told by steam to delete all files in the steam folder except steam.exe and steamapps folder and thats ment to fix it.

i found using a application called WLAN optimizer helped if i disabled background scan and enabled streaming mode

um try to get a new conection cord or a new router or you can try to reinstalle the game or you could of deleted a conection file in the game files if you are on pc but one of those things that i said should work

this fixes it:

Go onto your homehub mainpage - either type in the IP adress of your router or using bthome hub type 'bthomehub.home' into an internet browser.

Go to application sharing, and then find 'steam games' in the list, then add that to your specific computer. If you wish to play the game on another computer in the house, then just change the settings so i works for the other computer. Then close and restart and should be working.

@sasuke8050 I solved that problem yonks ago - its so simple. Basically - it all depends on your router, because different routers have different menu layouts, but what you are looking for in your router options is something that says 'Factory Reset' or 'Set to Factory Defaults'. With my BT home hub i found that doing a factory reset wiped a lot of data from the cache, and in doing so completely fixed the problem. Havent had or seen of it since. Give it a try :D

@sasuke8050 Ok, no offence, but with the level of knowledge you have on your router setup, its going to be near impossible for me to help you, so im sorry.

If you can, in your Router settings (press start, type cmd, in cmd type 'ipconfig' and hit enter. Look for 'Default gateway' - get the number next to that and type it straight into your Browser url and hit enter. That should be your router settings menu. In that, search somewhere for 'reset to factory defaults'. Sorry, cant help beyond that.
