  • 2006... xD

  • Reminds me heavily of morrowind

  • Um when are we going to see the engine?

  • I suggest everyone just get UDK....It's free.

  • i remember back when this would have been amazing :D

  • Good graphics some buildings though would have shown up differently if rendered with better settings. Too bad i cant figure out how to do graphics models in blender then i could just forget about trying to buy 3ds max by itself straight out.

  • @geekm1 Blender's interface is terrible. Instead of keyboard commands being convenient and quick shortcuts to useful parts of the GUI that might take several clicks to reach, they are required to perform basic commands which are not even represented on the GUI menus. One of the main reasons 3DS Max and Maya are better is that it is actually possible to find shortcuts for basic commands by browsing the menus and then finding out the shortcuts from there.

  • @intboom Blender it is not convenient while you do not learn well the program. When you will enough work with it you will understand that the interface very much even the convenient.

  • I don't understand why people speak of UDK in the same breath as other engines..?! The engine is Unreal 3 (I was working on UE3, in fact, when epic released UDK. UDK is just the Unreal Editor ripped out from the engine, script compilation thrown in and repackaged as UDK. It is a toolkit for hobbyists and enthusiasts. Professional developers use UE3.

Unity3D doesn't allow you to work on C++ either but, in C#, it uses a powerful language for scripting... giving you enough control.

  • gives me sudden urge to play skyrim :P

  • a very fun game made with this engine is Crowns of power vist Crownsofpower(.)com

  • back to the stoneage graphics?

  • @QualityCompare Look at the age of this video :)

  • @dump1352 So i was right!

  • What method of model swapping do you use?

  • Call of Duty 1ish

  • ahh the good old days....i miss using environmental effects to obscure the far clip plane in the view frustum. But for being torque circa '06 this looks about par with what any major studio could have made. Nowadays its art that decides a games fate. Look at crysis 2 - awesome engine but they used shitty low res art assets.

  • @SpecialEdAllstar It is true that the art decides the fate, but art is still dependent on hardware. They probably used low res art the be on par with lower/mid end graphics cards on laptops. I think we're entering the stages of when hardware will no longer be an issue. Just imagine the most current top of the line gaming desktop computer packed in to the size of a netbook.

  • god i wish i knew how to fucking script stuff and do all that!!!!

  • @randyrhoads15 Well you could always learn Programming in 3D game Engines through books like I did, Pays off well but you have to put effort into it and not drop it

  • @randyrhoads15 I could teach you

  • kinda reminds me of fable

  • @markamanic I thought Fable too! :D

  • This Was 2006. Nuff FCKIN SAID ROCK ON!

  • add zombies...

  • torque :(

  • rendering is shit

  • this is so sweet

  • So this is Torque 3d?

  • @CDBigShow This was posted 4 years ago. This is not Torque 3D.

  • great! morrowind got a graphical update!

  • how do u make clouds??

  • @atabouraya its not clouds its a skybox skyboxes are reapeating textures

  • 2006

  • stop being mad cause you waisted your money on Torque 3D lol

  • 2006? wow, awesome.

  • Unreal Development Kit is better than Torque

  • @mamananau this vid was posted in 2006...

  • Unity also nice but better than torque!!

Unity is nearly powerful as UDK!!

    maybe,

    coz it got #4!!

  • Unity is not even close to the power of UDK and Torque 3D. Unless you shell out $1400, you cannot get any of the same rendering features as either engine.

Torque 3D actually has more advanced rendering tech than either, such as real-time dynamic lighting, updated SSAO and DOF, and so on.

Got #4 on what? Are you talking about the top 10 engines list that was released earlier this year? The number had nothing to do. It wasn't like #4 was better than #5. It was just a list.

  • @Peffe01 : torque might have more power in the box but making a game with torque feels more like making a mod, am sure most will agree, for that reason i never got into it but it is graphically impressive

  • @Peffe01 Whats your opinion on DarkBASIC Pro?

  • @StephEEE10 - Good question. DBP has it's uses, some clever features, and a good following. It's not the most intuitive middleware, and considering my development background I'm more drawn to Torque engines for their work flow and source access.

  • @Peffe01 'ave you heard about Leadwerks Engine?

  • @GordonFreeMANness - Leadwerks is really nice. Support for C++ and C# is a big plus, and their tools aren't bad at all. The engine really shines in the rendering area, and I'd be extremely jealous if Torque 3D did not support deferred lighting and PostFX (thankfully it does).

It's definitely a good tool, but Torque 3D has it beat in networking, physics, audio, and tool variety. Definitely a good alternative, though.

  • @Peffe01 Ty Peffe is Torque free as unity and UDK?

  • There is no perfect game engine. There are only engines that work well for your current project. UDK might be good for a free or low cost commercial game, whereas Torque 3D would be more suitable for a high budget game expecting many sales.

UDK requires you to pay $99 to sell a game, plus you have to pay royalties. To get source code, you have to pay $250K.

Torque 3D without source is $100, and does not take royalties. Torque 3D with source is only $1000.

Pick what works for YOUR game.

  • @Peffe01

darkbasic for the indie guys not payments just a legal copy and no royaltys, not like an indie or couple of people are really gonna harness the power of one of the C languages.

  • @mamananau yes now jes but in 2006 not

  • @mamananau

look at how much it cost to licence & release the game fpr UT engine. lol

  • Yeah I know what you mean but I was talking about the download and that stuff.

  • i love unreal engine 3

  • Torque Game engine!

  • Comment removed

  • If you are rich?

  • Yes, but it's still nice

  • that is the best one but ... you will finishing selling out your house haha.

  • ..?

  • weird, i think answered ini the correct thread, but my comment appeared just here, i answered to another comment not this.. sorry, maybe i mistaken.

  • its a good engine but its relay hard to import models into the engine if you don't have 3dmax, i have Maya and c4d and i cant use eny of my models

  • do u no if u can use blender?

  • YES! You most certainly can use blender/

  • well i thought it take a special exporter

  • Lol you can use maya aswell if you use an exporter >.>

  • i can never find an exporter for Maya

  • Check the Artist documentation page on the site. I uploaded the exporters there.

  • i dont know where to look there

  • The website GarageGames is in the description of this video. Once on that site, go to Support - Documentation. Then click on the Artist tab.

  • Wheres my specular and normal mapping?!

  • omfg its amazing!!!!

  • OMG its fucking Amazing how long you have work???

  • fuck its like 200 bucks D:

  • OMG i gotta get this

  • I HAVE TO GET THIS

  • This reminds me of Morrowind.

  • yea morrowind

  • This is the same engine as the morrowind? are you sayng that?

  • no, im saying it reminds me of Morrowind

  • @Agentbromsnor na morrowinds too medival

  • wut

  • i wish i could make a game like this, are there any tutorials for the torque game engine

  • if you know c++ and how to build it TGEA can be very easy to use =) once you got the grips youll find it easy most people say the hardest thing is the ideas and i probaly would agree.. anyways if you need to learn dl c++ 08 and buy/dl c++ begginners guide by herbert schildt it really helped me out

  • Thanks.

  • Nice game

  • Im no fan of torque engine but...

Concidering its a dx8 engine (unless its TGEA), its not too bad. No its not the best, but then nothing but engines which cost £100k are going to be ;)

  • torque is a really nice engine, really i can make a better demo, this is really a bad demo but the engine its really nice

  • okkokoko okokok

  • you're more than welcome to post your demo, i'd like to see it, and to LOLATFOREST, can you make something better?

  • Nice! Good sand ;)

And all be are very big... this is good, dark game :]

  • Torque is a really really horrible engine..

  • The quake 3 engine is free, if you plan to release your game under GPL.

  • 1 question: have you ever played runescape?

  • Well, something like this might be pushing the Runescape engine a little bit, but you do have a point.

  • awesome I digg this man I hope to create stuff half this good by myself!

  • what are these better engines? torque is great for making my prototype but it will block several features i want in my game; i also question the resource efficiency. if something is better than TGEA/juggernaught i'd like to know. most of the engines i've checked either looked like hobbyist or rich people shit. any indy-reachable engines that have produced commercial-grade games? torque has but they are outdated and TGEA/juggernaught are unproven/unfinished.

  • Umm hello? TGEA has been proven, just look at Marble Blast Ultra

    Look it up

  • good to hear bmftrace, me hopes it can handle a war simulation as well

  • Wow those are really cool, the effects are all really awesome. I'm also against the Torque game engine though =\. Those looked very well made though.

  • how come everyone that comments engines are basically like "omfgz dis shit suck ish ps1 lies ps1 is betta" people work really hard on engines and you just comments omfg dis shit suck torque = suckiest ever really doesnt make you a pro but yeah i thought this engine looked really nice tha only thing i thought that didnt look good was possably the trees but the rest looked good

  • There was a bit of pop-in near the beginning of the movie, which made one of my eyebrows perk up, but otherwise I thought the movie wasn't half bad. The sandstorm part in particular caught my attention, although I can't quite pick out the reason...

  • Torque is a really really horrible engine..

  • torque = the suck

  • LOL these graphics are reminiscent of Xbox 1 graphics!

  • cool! I specialy liked the snowy part.

  • Ya Torque is very good. But im making my own game engine. lol

  • cool

  • That's not a nice thing to say. Nothing wrong with his spelling and coding a game engine doesn't require good skills with English. Coding is more likely to kill your skills in typing English.

  • Your correct, my english is not so good,

But i am making my 2D engine.

  • @meisgeghra But its one of a good job Lost of money

  • The Torque Game Engine in fact did look really nice visually and ran smoothly. I used it in my College Simulation class. I only had 2 really big issues:

    Crashes and bugs

    No 3d Studio Max support

  • It has 3DS Max support now, and the plugin for 9 works with 2008.

  • omg really??

  • yup

  • wha?? It ALWAYS had 3d studio max support, I've been using it since it was released back in 2001 and all I ever used was 3ds max

  • Well, the version I was using had support, but it was an External Plugin that was kind of buggy

  • Wow nice , whats the Music? ^^

  • No doubt, this is the best indie game engine out there. Torque Game Engine is very good, and Torque Game engine ADVANCED has a huge graphics upgrade. People, if you are interested in game development, I urge you to go for Torque. I swear I'm not being paid to say this or am the maker of this engine!!!

  • As bryce1224 said above, "if you are interested in game development, I urge you to go for Torque". It wont do the work for you, but sets you up to do it as easy and fun as it gets.

  • Torque is among the best. It has the potential for great games.

  • This deserves a rating, for sure.

  • no problem

  • I love torque game engine and i always modify and play with it. Thanks for the vid on the TSE.
