When I was 10 I ran into Bob Denver at Disneyland of all places! I loved Gilligans Island at the time and after my mom explained it to him , I got to ride the same ride with him.... I dont even think i remember what ride it was. lol

I'm surprised nobody yet noticed the really tan guy in the orange trunks with the white waist band is Mickey Dora, but then how many people poured over old Surfer, Surfing, Surfing International magazines like I did? Anyone? Dora was the most interesting character in that weird world. How I do envy a c#@& who can tan like that. As for surfing ability, I never had a second thought about it, I was as good as I needed or wanted to be, but I do envy the bastards who can suntan, those crumb-bums.
Crazy Daddy-o! Man, I dig this beatnik cat's groovin' rap. This classic film clip is world's ahead of the average contemporary rapper. Likely less than 2% of today's rappers & poetry slammers have ever even heard of beat poetry... go figure! Viva Gilligan!!
The people who post here that this is Pagan or devil worship need to get "a grip" ..... There wasn't anything to the sirf scene of theearly 60s but "Fun, Fun, Fun .... " .... and most of it pretty innocent.
And then they paddle into 1 foot slop, because the beach faces south in the winter, which is when they did most of the filming of these absurdities, and the swells come from the north at that time. Lame. Now I am a hodad. Lamer. Eric Von Zipper was the only funny thing about those movies, but I must admit, I spent an afternoon wasting in front of the TV once with my sister and we laughed our silly heads off at Bob and his marijuana inspired lunacy; you warped young minds, Denver. RIP.
@hummlyhummly Well-written comment! Having worked in the film industry for nearly 30 years, I always appreciate when the truths are revealed about a movie's continuity errors, in this case the lousy surf at that time of year. I also wonder where Bob's nose is during his beach beatnik rap, nose is buried, but full of sand? This is a such a great surf party B movie! I recall seeing it at a drive-in cinema and it was a very hip movie at the time(I was maybe 6 years old then). RIP Bob!
@billjesusgates Back then, must blacks lived about 50 miles from Malibu, a long bus ride for teens at the time. Did people self-segregate themselves back then? Tattoos? These were the white kids of LA socialites and movie stars, no tattoos, that was for the greasers and reform school boys...
@obeysanta No, the idea was that each summer's surf season was started with the ritual of the beatnik beach bum doing his rap, kinda like :the blessing of the fleet" of surfboards.
Cinema at it's finest. Ranks up there with Citizen Cane and Dr. Strangelove. I would venture as far as to say it's up there with the works of 'il Maestro' Federico Fellini.
the origin of all hip-hop and rap. It started right here.

Turner Classic Movies aired this movie on
September 16, 2008. I had not seen this movie on TV since the mid 1970's. I recorded it on my Tivo and watched it yesterday afternoon.
In my opinion it is just an okay movie. Not as
fun and exciting as the Frankie & Annette beach movies made by AIP!
