  • Whats the maximum effective range of the 30-30 round? Both the standard round tip and hornadys leverevlution tip?

  • Excellent videos. Thanks. I wonder if you wouldn't mind doing a part three to show how you take off the magazine tube. I found one instructional thread on MarlinOwners but my tube did not come off and I didn't want to force it. I could not find any vids showing how to do it either. Thanks! Much appreciated.

  • Thank You for sharing the lever gun take down with us!

  • Dunno if you bought your peep sights yet, but Skinner makes a beautiful sight for the Marlins.

  • Gread Video man!!! You are the best

  • great video extremely helpful

  • @Thevern666 Just wondering about the hammer and the spur hittting the bolt. Is there a remedy for that.

    Great videos thanks

  • Hey sir if you get some time i would apreciate a small video of you workin the action and runnin some dummie rounds threw to show the difference in the resistance. Thank you greetins from USA. have a good un man

  • Hello, great video ! Where did you get the trigger.....all that I found, you have to be a dealer to purchase......thanks.....

  • @tdeanrob That would depend on where you're trying to buy. Here is Australia it's no problems to buy from Brownells online store (USA) and ship to Australia. Gun parts over $100 require a customs form, but you can arrange that fairly easily when they hold the shipment in Australia. There are restricted gun parts that *only* a dealer can purchase, like a firearm action, but a trigger is not restricted as far as I know. This is my limited understanding, and not legal advice, of course ;-)

  • @mrquan83 Hi again. Where did you get the stainless hammer extension? Thanks Todeemax

  • @todeemax1 The stainless steel hammer extension came with the rifle (I'm guessing it only came with the 'SS' variant). Your best bet would probably be to contacting Marlin directly and seeing if they can source one for you.

  • @mrquan83 Thanks I will try that. I have looked everywhere. I am taking delivery of a 1895 SBL Guide Gun 45/70 this week, and the photo doesn't show one. I have a 336c and looking forward to the new SBL. I was able to save money with your videos by installing my own Happy Trigger and the bear ejector. Thanks again for your help.

  • @todeemax1 the SPL looks to be a great rifle, especially with the stopping power of 45/70! Glad the video was helpful and good luck finding the hammer extension.

  • @mrquan83 Just to add a point to your video, I had to deburr, the lever inside and out, as the sharp edges were scratching my hand bad. I need to reblue it now. Some might overlook this issue.

  • oh ok thanks for the help

  • Last question, i won't keep bothering you. I checked at Bunnings and they don't seem to have anything like it. Would Brasso do the trick do you think, or is it too runny? Thanks for replying so quickly.

  • @gottithehun no worries, ask away! Bunnings may not carry it anymore. Google "Dursol Shine" or "Autosol Shine" and you should find some places that sell it online. Brasso would probably be a bit too liquid IMO, but may work. In any case, be sure to rinse everything you polish to remove harmful residue, then re-oil.

Good luck and thanks for the interest :-)

  • Where did you get that hammer extender ?

  • @huron13hoe Brownells online

  • @mrquan83

whats is the item number? I looked and all I can find are the blued ones, not the ones in Stainless Steel

  • @huron13hoe I double-checked this last night and I actually got the stainless hammer extension with the rifle, so Marlin will probably be your best bet. Sorry for the run around.

  • Hey mr. Quan, i have tried looking every where for the stainless steel paste you use. Could someone tell me where to get it? I live in South Australia. Cheers everyone.

  • @gottithehun I think I got it from Bunnings

  • Great vid, thanks heaps for posting. Just got the same rifle in the S.S version, and will try to follow word for word. Action is definitely 'clunky'. Go Aussies!

  • Thanks! I just completely disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled my 1972 glenfield marlin model 30 golden 50. This was the first time I've ever disassembled a gun and it was a breeze because of your video. Awesome.

  • This is by far the best disassembly video on youtube for the marlin 336 its very VERY helpful thanks =^_^=

  • @TheDirkoff Yeah it was hard for me to restrain from buying the first 336 I could afford!!! Blued are no way inferior as far as handling and accuracy go, just make sure you oil it well and baby it a bit more. Gotta say the 336SS is a sexy rifle though ;-)

  • Good video. Those Stanley screwdrivers are straight tapered and will 'walk' out of the screw slot one day (ask me how I know this, lol). Do yourself a favour and buy a driver and a set of gunsmith tips which have parellel sides and won't end up mushing up your screws.

Viewers from overseas are going to be Googling ADF looking for that oil.

  • @FourFingersofDeath Good advice, the Stanley's were hand-me-downs which I've had a lot of use from! I haven't encountered any problems myself. But I have since bought a Magna-Tip screwdriver set from Brownells which I can recommend.

Haha, yeah I swear by the 'ADF' oil (Australian Defence Force) ;-) It's amazingly versatile.

  • Good disassembly demo like the style :)

  • The offset hammer adapter does slow down lock time I find this tradeoff not worth it without a scope just my opinion

  • @TheWoollyMammoth yeah, some like it, some don't. I found that my thumb consistently moved to the right when going for the hammer so it was good for me. I also have the left lens on my shooting glasses blacked out with a target patch so I don't have to squint, whereas other people find this distracting.

At the end of the day, I believe you should do whatever makes *you* most comfortable for optimum accuracy. Happy shooting! :-)

  • Could tell you were an aussie right away.. its our great accent ;) haha.. Very awesome video! certainly going to do this to mine, mines brand new and its clunky as hell !! Would you recommend that stainless polish on the Blued metal of the 336.. or is there a similar product for the blued metal?

  • @TheKodiak72 Hmmm, that's a good question about polishing blued metal. Bluing is only a surface finsish, so you can expect to wear the bluing away by polishing. You'll find that any decent gunsmith will blue the disassembled parts for a reasonable cost. My old man's re-blued rifles and it was very affordable. Well worth having a nice slick action ;-)

  • Nice video mate , good information .

  • great vid very helpful tips

  • Magnificent video. Both Part 1 and 2. Have you ever used lapping compound to polish rough areas? I know that stuff is available in some really fine grits, so I wondered how if would fare over the emery cloth.

  • @FullTimeBadAzz I haven't tried lapping compound, but I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I imagine this could be applied like the polish I used??

  • Hi Mate, I have the same rifle, were did you get the happy trigger from! because brownell's in the USA will not mail to Australia!! What gun shop is it from!! cheers.

  • @TheWheels1965 Rifle from Cleavers and trigger from Brownells. When buying from Brownells just be sure to check if you require any import papers (i.e. order over $100, or certain restricted gun parts). For the happy trigger I didn't require any paperwork :-)

  • Just bought a 336 myself. Thanks for the great video, made the first disassembly easy.

  • @redramage Cheers :-)
