I appreciate DEMCAD and his video. For the first time in a long while, instead of viewing videos that predict humanity's end, this video reflects our true virtue that made civilization possible in the first place. This virtue is consideration for others along with self governance, impulse restraint. Not to mention another valuable human virtue called, empathy. I would also equate unity in diversity as the gold standard of any thriving civilization. Thanks DEMCAD for an interesting video.
seceded from the Union and started their own country. A few other states din the end were considering to join up like Nevada and Montana. I doubt it, but hopefully if thats what it takes to wake up the US Government and what they are doing and allowing.
After socialism fails I am looking forward to a drastic increase in agnostic people. A refound fiscal conservatism. A restored faith in Austrian Economics as opposed to Keynesian Economics.
Especially though, I am looking forward to the social changes that you had mentioned. We have become a country that is complacently unwise. We think because we are Americans we are entitled to something...
I just think it will be interesting to see Americans after they have been proven seriously wrong.
Hi Demcad, love your vids. Alaska is starting to sound pretty good to me. Im looking over my shoulder at the Mexican border & its not looking too good. Whats amazing to me is that I can call friends & relatives in other parts of the country to talk about the crime & unrest in Mexico & they dont know a thing about it. Are that many people in America clueless? Or are they so wrapped up in American Idol that they dont have time to pay attention to the world outside their doors?
I would first like to say how great it is that people are trying to get more inform of the current crisis and how we got to this point in the first place. I think the most positive thing that will come of a collapse is a society more critical of our goverment and a lot less separated by things such as wealth, race, and social groups.
So tell me will you be disappointed if there is no collapse? I understand for some of you the things you talk about are novel concepts, family dinners growing your own food shopping locally treating your neighbors like neighbors and not like strangers but some of us have been doing these things all our lives. I prefer to be hopeful prepared as always but hopeful.
Now for a few changes after the collapses and on a more personal level: transportation-more biking, perhaps a moped or electric bike too. food and water-have some stored water and some canned goods. Even Apple Juice too. bartering-increase in and more oppotunities for grey and black markets. Have tons of stuff for barter and exchange. Including certain skills too. Yes...Market Stalls/booths. People buy and sell wares. Even some gambling for certain items..
Positive change: no income taxes, back to basics farming, hunting, appreciating non tech things, possibly people learning be humble. I know the food is getting expensive, and the stimulus won't create jobs, the rabbit hole gets deeper, and ofcourse more winding! Thanks for the vid Demcad lots of great points...
I'm not sure if there will be any complete positive changes if the whole economy collapses but, maybe when businesses collapse they can fix policies that destroyed them, rebuild etc. Like Gm and Ford, if the collapse they can restart their company without the union which would help allot.
I don't think there will be any cultural changes
,to be honest. I don't think there are sexist issues these days and if there are there pretty
70% of the USA gdp is about selling houses to each other, getting car loans, college loans, and every loan for everything under the sun.
If 70% of the system is not fixed & 250-300k home forclosures add to the bad debt every month, the US will just carry on plugging the GDP gap with borrowing until they are bankrupt, there is no other way than to deal with the bad debt,no bad debt solution,no credit crunch solution, its put a sticking plaster on someone who has had their head cut off.
I still don't think the real issue is being addressed, the USA has thought about setting up a bad bank, this would have to take about $15-20 trillion and put it on the long term debt of the USA.
The US Government will lose its superpower status, possibly the Reserve Currency.
The USA if it did a Bad Bank would survive, the long term debt of the US would go to $70-80 trillion from $50-60 trillion,i promise you the credit crunch would end within 6 months tops, the USA dosn't want to lose power.
One positive change would be eugenics a reduction of the population through starvation, fema concentrations camps, nursing home residents, homeless and disabled people being euthanized. Less population means less food consumed, less medical costs, no homeless, no elderly, no disabled people to help-isnt this what conservatives really want?
A collapse is more likely to bring about tyranny rather than a reformed utopia. I think you're giving human and human nature far too much credit. There will be positive changes, but the way in which our country changes will generally not be positive. We will lose our liberty and many will lose their lives.
antiChrist government, a time of peace for 3 and a half years. After then, the great tribulation, mass murder of jews, christians and anyone that does not bow down to the "image of the beast"!
don't know nor believe this. But one day they will wake up and learn and experience new things. And even during the Tribulation Period, many people will know that the Lord God is and acts but choose to follow and worship the AntiChrist instead. :(
You might try pointing out some conservatives that actually stick with their conservative principles, rather than trying to create this moral equivalency between both sides, both parties, both ideological extremes. Some people say what they believe and believe what they say, and that includes some politicians.
The only way we will have any of those changes is if we change the monetary system. We have to have the gov't be able to spend debt free money instead of always borrowing it. If we keep the current monetary system there is literally no hope. The reason they have to take the money is because there will be a cash shortage otherwise. This is because bankers are always skimming money off the top WITHOUT PRODUCING A PROPORTIONAL AMOUNT OF GOODS AND SERVICES. It's like paying a janitor 250k a year.
that's what california get for having all those social programs for the poor.
People need to learn it doesn't pay to be poor.
Positive change for me is affordable housing in California thanks to obama I'll be getting $8,000 free for purchasing a home and the best part is I don't have to pay it back.
I'm tired of working hard and having to pay to support those on welfare etc... this $8k is gonna be my time to shine.
the real solution is for the price to go down $8000, not for the gov't to give you $8k. the prices will come down if the gov't quits inflating...and banks quit offering the exotic loans like interest only, etc. it makes no sense to borrow from the chinese so you can buy and over-inflated house in CA.
your supposed to work hard for your welfare most of that 8 grand is other people's money who worked hard. Being lazy and getting money is not a good thing.
Well what kind of change after the Collapse? Shopping local again, Growing a garden,Saving money, village living like europeans do,Mass transit,Riding bicycles. And the list goes on.The sooner we accept this ,and make these changes the easier the transition will be.But the more money we pump into a failing state, the longer this transition will take and we may not come out of this .Nations come and go in history this is nothing new.We our witnessing history...
Life should be simpler when it is all said and done and maybe families will learn to stay together, learn to work things out.. I think extended families might choose to stay closer to one another also, not live thousands of miles apart.
AD does not mean after death! I dont think jesus would appreciate a calendar that started after he died! but i think he might like one that started from the time he was born! Anno Domini ( year of our lord)
Reginald i bought bologna, salami, ham, turkey, pepperoni, shredded cheese, a loaf of french bread, a bag of chips and a tub of chip dip....to make a sub....the price $28.00!! For a damn SANDWICH!!! food inflation is outragous and getting worse...package sizes have decreased by atleat 10% this past year...
A society where people actually gets together over something more than a party and actually communicates something more than the mindless drivel they see on tv everyday
less materialism, more humbleness, less jealousy and envy, more caring for people, more spirituality and I believe people will have more time now for excercise and faith as they are unemployed/ work less/ or make less money.
Great vid and question. Positive outcomes? First, you nailed the best one. We can hopefully rebuild it better. Also, maybe just maybe the younger generation(s) will learn from this disaster. Eventually, we should have a much stronger country. But my favorite is that this is a good time to thin out the herd. :)
I'm looking forward to people having better morals! You pretty much summed it up. I can't wait for the arrogance of everyone to end. Thanks for the post!
Unfortunately that's what the people in control of the media want, a change not for the better of everyone but themselves. Life is really like the wild kingdom the lions (rich mother fuckers) will eat the sheep as we wonder why they would do such horrible things. All the while not seeing these people for what they are, inhuman. Sure the walk like us talk like us and die like us, the difference is in there moral center, that you assume everyone has.
For one I thing people will start to learn more about being self sufficient and grow there own gardens and raise there own chickens and so on. Also people will all be more connected, because if there is no more money there is no more rich or poor. I think this will be part of the first steps of a new world. Also I hope this will also mean no more war without the money. Great vid, keep it going. Peace
I think you are right on the money Reginald! Loved your comment about being a gentleman. If only my daughters were older -- I hope they find a nice guy like you when they're grown up! I think people are going to get their priorities in order: No more McMansions, no more extravegance, more family time, meals around the supper table, kids having chores (the garden!) and people re-discovering that are the REAL things in life to strive for. I would like to see more individualism, better behavior, less dependence of institutions (Hollywood, gov't and large corporations) and different forms of educating children outside of chucking them into a building and hoping for the best.

Honestly I think people will continue to do the same mistakes over and over again, regardless of the crisis.
But if it could make government just a little bit smaller it would not be too bad.

Positive changes:
-people more chilled out afterwards not running around like headless chickens
-less pollution
-people getting back to basics - emphasis on quality rather than quantity
-more community and family interaction
-a good fright for the horribly rich
-more awareness by Joe Soap of banking and international economics - it's all connected !!!!
-more meaningful jobs, hopefully
-caring for the environment / less gluttony
-less reliance on production... an economy is much much more
