Post-rockish G!YBE sound?! wow definately getting this one. Although I have a piece a shit amp: Laney TFX1 - should i run it directly or effects loop?
just got my midiverb 4 yesterday for 65 bucks brand new with gel pack inside, and plastic sticker on it, thing is awesome!!!!! no scratches nothing!!!
@JohnathenDavis It's after the preamp but before the power amp. If I was running it with a normal amp head I would definitely run it in the effects loop.
You want to talk about a pedal that will make this Midiverb sound AWESOME!!!!!????????? TRUST ME BRO, no other pedal will do this effect rack justice more than the Hardwire Overdrive pedal.......buy a used one off of ebay or something man, you won't be disappointed.
I have been given a midiverb 4, and when I plug it in and switch it on, it says 'initialising' and then a load of astrix' follow. The midiverb 4 has not been used for what I can imagine to be at least 3 or 4 years, possibly even more :S any suggestions or ideas?
@NirvanaRox4Eva Hi mate, I've no idea I'm sorry. Sounds like it's fucked. The only thing I can think that *might* help (and it's no guarantee) is to go inside it and re-seat the EPROM chip. Take it out and push it back in.
@Yunneck At the time I made this video I didn't have a recording interface, hence the poor audio. Why don't you make your own video if mine isn't good enough? Better yet, why don't you fuck off?
@Tibbonds i can't make a vid about Midiverb because i don't have one. I don't know if i want one because i can't hear shit from videos recorded on wrist watch. Why even bother to record vids like this? No offence, just sayin that vid isn't usefull at all.
@Yunneck That's like a stranger giving you a gift and then complaining that the gift wasn't good enough. I didn't make this video specifically for you, so if you didn't find it useful then find another video or just cough up some cash and buy one. It's not my responsibility to make videos for strangers. I made this video because a few guys on Harmony Central wanted to hear what it's capable of, and most of them found it useful despite it's poor audio quality.
@Yunneck of course it is, but if you leave unnecessarily shitty comments on people's videos you should expect unnecessarily shitty responses. I agree the sound quality is poor, but so what? It's not here because I think it's a great demo, it's here because I needed a way of sharing a video with some guys I actually know and actually give a fuck about. You just happen to be poking your nose in where it's not wanted. Just buy one if you're that curious, they cost pennies on ebay.
@Yunneck uh I found the video quite useful. I just bought one of these one ebay and am really enjoying hearing this! what are you retarded? not useful? what? maybe not to you idiot that doesnt make it not useful
@Tibbonds very nice effect!!! I'm thinking about getting this midiverb 4 or a quadraverb for guitar...but maybe quadraverb is outdated and with less sound definition...what do you suggest? Thank you.
@wildcatp7 Thanks mate. Honestly, I haven't played a Quadraverb, but the Quadraverb was a more expensive model than the Midiverb 4. The Midiverb has never been discontinued but it's very old technology, they've been making them since the mid 90s I think. It's an excellent unit but the Quadraverb is supposed to be even better.
@Tibbonds I've followed your advice :) got a quadraverb some days ago and really sounds great with clean and overdrive channel of my marshall, in fx loop. It has also a very nice equalizator, this has been a surprise :)
Nice demo but your wet/dry mix is much too wet to my ears - if I'm using it as an in-line guitar effect I usually set the mix on the reverb patches way down to between 4 and 6% - it's a bit of a pain that it doesn't have a global wet/dry setting (like the GX700 I see there) but that's probably because it was desgned to be used with the stereo FX loops on a mixing desk.
PS. I also use mine with the GX700 which is very good but I MUCH prefer the reverbs on the Alesis.
@Twirlyhead Thanks for the comment. I agree that for normal uses it's best to keep the mix down low, but I used this rack unit for super over the top ambient stuff, hence the mix being so high. It wouldn't work for blues, but it works for post rock etc.
@HenryJackification - I can't access the preset right now because my rack as at my rehearsal space, but the key to the modulated reverb is the 'swirl' parameter. The higher the Swirl setting, the more modulation you get on the reverb. I think it's on the Hall mode. I tend to set a bit of pre-delay to give my pick attack some room to breathe - maybe 200ms or so. From there, just set everything else to taste. use a REALLY long decay setting (like 20-30 seconds) for the huge washed out verbs.
I can give you my '02' preset if you like dude, but as you'll see from the video I did a fair bit of editing before it got to 3 minutes. I can't remember (and the video isn't clear enough) what I changed from my preset sound. Probably I just changed the decay time and mix level, but I can't be sure. I'll upload the preset settings tomorrow.
Yeah, I really love the 02 setting as well, it sounds like a much better version of the modulated setting on the boss rv-5. I'd love to know how you did it. Do you have a footswitch to bypass this unit? I'd like to get one, but I was wondering if it worked well (do the trails continue if you bypass it?).
Would you be so kind as to posting the settings you are using? They sound GREAT - particularly the setting at 3:00, but they all sound good. I've been playing around with my Midiverb4 and am having a problem getting a more "transparent" sound. Any tips? Thanks, bro.

Can I get reverse reverb sound with it?
SkankerxD 2 months ago
@SkankerxD Kind of, but not quite. You can get a reverse gated reverb, which means it sort of fades the reverb in. But it doesn't reverse the audio.
Tibbonds 1 month ago
do you run it in the front end of your amp or in the effects loop?
JohnathenDavis 3 months ago
@JohnathenDavis It's after the preamp but before the power amp. If I was running it with a normal amp head I would definitely run it in the effects loop.

@Tibbonds Im going to give you a heads up bro to maximize your Midiverb 4.

@Tibbonds here's a link to the overdrive & what it is capable of (not including with the midiverb) on youtube.

@Tibbonds Just to clarify, the point after the preamp and before the power amp is an effects loop.
