You can't sue rodeo for animal cruelty because the laws do not protect the animals, they are exempt, which is what we are working to correct through awareness.

The treatment of the steers calves and horses are brutal, and should be stopped as should bull fighting, and all these so called SPORTS!! Where's the SPORT in leaving helpless animals to die a slow painful death, at the very very least a lethal injection should be administered as soon as it's known the animal cannot survive. Just as a foot note, I'm really glad that vet isn't one that cares for my animals. She's got so much empathy with the injured animals it's amazing!! NOT!!

lifesong101: The nature of this event produces injuries and death time after time. It is so brutal, it is not even allowed with the NFR in Nevada because it is banned there. In most of the rodeos where it is performed, it is during slack, with no public audience. The rodeo knows this is cruel and continues doing it.

As for taking care of kids and stuff like that, you go right ahead and help all of them. We'll continue to work for the animals.

Did your rep talk with the owner of the steer to see if he even wanted vet care? I don't believe the rodeo is responsible it is the owner's and if they refuse care then the vets hands are tied. She was better off going and helping the animals she was allowed to help. Oh the horse is not out of control but is under trained or rusty, the horse should hold not drag the steer. That's the fault of the horse owner. There are a few that mess things up for the ones that really work and try to do right.

It's 2007 and still people find the animal abuse inherent in rodeos "entertaining." I don't get it. Previously, I politely asked the PRCA to explain how roping animals, especially babies, makes someone feel like they've accomplished something, and asked where the challenge is.  Judging by the lack of a response, they apparently have no explanation, either.

The rodeo operators showed more concern about covering up their deeds of abuse and neglect instead of helping the injured animal. The vet appeared to be for Public Relations. Obviously not many animals lovers in attendance. Shame on the rodeo...
