I have to be in the mood to listen, but there are few bands which make you want to listen to the whole album in one sitting: Gentle Giant (Octopus), Captain Beyond (first album), Jethro Tull (Aqualung), Beatles (White Album & Abbey Road).
I’m sure there are more....but those come to mind right away for me.
This genius track just turns me into a blubbering wreck every time I hear it.......how to end a relationship with grace and dignity-played and sung with sensitivity and beauty that's just beyond anything I've ever heard!!
@Groderon This band is great this is one of my favorites from this album, what does age have to do with listening to music. Just keep that to yourself, people of all ages should enjoy Gentle Giant.
GG is one of the beautiful things that happened in my life! I'm always recalling their music after all these years! Thanks for uploading this beautiful piece of our existence!
the sweetest sad song ever - still listen to it endlessly when I feel I have to say goodbye to someone with beauty and dignity. Already 51, I'll always will think of 'these times' with kindness

I always told my little sister (back in the 70s) that Gentle Giant, Yes, Focus etc. will be remembered forever and that her idols (ABBA) etc. will be forgotten.
GG aren't very popular just cos their musical skills are too high and their talent is too great for those stupid people who just listen to stupid music.
Their lyrics always fit the music and I think this is their best talent.
I'm pretty sure this band, along with others such as King Crimson or Jethro Tull (just to name 2 of them) will be studied at school in the future, like classical composers of the past are studied now. I'm sure about that and silly bands of the present will be forgotten.
Another tremendous piece from GG. Creative, with an unbelievable vocal (thanks Kerry!) and dynamic passion. It is a song that I have been listening to for almost 35 years, and never get tired of it.
well I am complicated guy that's why I think I love this music.. I am 32 .. this musi is for posterity.. no matter how many fans in the world are out there.
I haven't heard this since I was 14 - I loved the whole album then, and think it stands the test of time magnificently. Interesting how one can drift away from things that one loves, then forget that one loved them... Really glad to have rediscovered this - thanks!
yikes, what a crappy song...my eaars my eaaars

It doesn't seem like it was 30 years ago or so that I first heard this band.
Unbelievable virtuosity and creativity. Are they still doing any recording or shows?
Thanks.....

I'd agree with that... Knots is just an amazing piece of music.
This is definitely my favorite Gentle Giant SONG though... it's simple enough to be reduced to chords and a melody, and it's brilliant.

In my opinion it would probably be "A Cry For Everyone" or "The Advent of Panurge". Every song on the album is great though.
