@marbananta Restless Heart are kinda in the middle. Technically, they are Country, but had a lot of Rock/AC/AOR/Pop leanings as well. Their albums had plenty of West Coast styled numbers, but always had a Country vibe, and occasionally straight Country songs. They were unique.
I love this song since I heard it years ago. I'm still curious, is Restless Heart a rock band or a country band? This song seems a rock ballad to me, so I'm assuming that they are a rock band. Anyone ...?
From what I read, Foster and RH composed the tune with the original lyrics (these), and they had to be slightly altered to fit the movie storyline...In my opinion, they should've kept these...They do just fine...
i love this song, david foster is a genius, he composed the melody for this song and the melodies for some other tracks from this album: three themes, i burn for you, gazebo.
As much as I love TIM DuBois production on their albums, I would have loved to hear a Restless Heart album produced by David Foster. Would've been amazing!
I think the music can be re-created, well it is being recreated just more refined because of electronic computer programs, we have learnt from the 80s and can expand from that. I am Gen Y born in the late 80s and i can say it did look like an amazing era.
i remember walking home in the rain, with this song playing on my WALKMAN,back in highschool..80's music had feeling, thats why you always remembered the songs,it just never leaves you..
I miss the 80s, the optimism, in movies, music, even in politics...when RR was in office, unashamedly proud of being an American, and proud of America, knew what this country could be. Certainly not what we have now...
2:05 - 2:27 = possibly the most nostalgic piece of music I have ever heard. Takes me back to the age of Flight of the Navigator, The Goonies, Weird Science, Lost Boys, Back to the Future, Little Monsters, Teen Wolf, Top Gun..... :' (
thanks a lot for posting this song...really takes me back to 80's...man i loved the era...songs made in the 80's ..can never be made again..the lyrics..the sound..man thankz once again..
@manojnanda001 Yes! The '80s were fantastic. I met my future wife (and yes, we're still married) back then. There were many romantic love songs from back then. This is just one of them.
@Alysoup10 They just played at the Head of The Lakes Fair in Superior, WI. I could not see them, but just thought you should know. I had to look them up they were a bit before my time and before I listened to the style.
It's the same song as "Something I Gotta Do." Only the title and lyrics of the song are different. And I really don't know why! David Foster didn't sing on the movie track. It was produced and co-written by Foster.
Does anyone has the mp3 of this song? I am struggling to find it. iTunes does not have it, Amazon does not have it...or maybe point me in the right direction as to where to find it
Hey jetset, i don't know if it'll help, but the movie track for this movie was done by David Foster. I have found lots of music by looking through his name. He also did the music for "Stealing Home" w/ Mark Harmon and Jodie Foster. Fantastic music too!
the title of original song is "something i gotta do"..SAME music but the lyrics is by david foster i think! it seems like the world is upside down i dont know what i m going through...."it's better in the movie but i like also this version...
THX!! luchino and MrsMJFox ... I really never realized, that this song might have been from Restless Heart. Although it's one of my favorite movies and Restless Heart one of my favorite bands... Hope I can find the movie version. Don't know which version came first or if Foster wrote both etc. but for me the MJF version was the first and it's impossible find online ;-((
Right, I have to admit that this probably shows the limit of my internet resources. We can't burgle Fosters Malibu estate. I was just wondering why nobody ever tried to rip it off the DVD to have at least some pieces in acceptable quality... mmmh, ...maybe I'll cut something when I get the DVD
I've been having a real hard time trying to find the movie version too, but from what I heard, it's not in production anymore. I have no idea why they changed the lyrics though.
In my opinion, I think that the movie version came out first, then they changed it for the soundtrack, but I'm really not too sure! =P
Hi MrsMJFox!-) ...the only possibility could have been the movie itself. I was constantly looking for the real score and it's definitely impossible to find. But there also ain't no possibility to rip it off the movie, as there's only the short part that is on youtube already ;-(( Maybe some later DVD release or a Foster collectors box will mend this gap.
for the chorus of this song, the lyrics in tsoms was 'it seems like the world is upside down, don't know what i'm going through'....but this version is 'if right now you're feeling lost and lonely, crazy to even try"
i heard this song for the first time when i watched this movie on tv...it's so cute...remind me at the scenes of that movie...mjf thinking about his job and his life,...perfect...ty for the post
