@55hatter That's why google exists, and you could make something as the same performance of an alienware by only spending about $1000 to make a desktop AND you can actually upgrade parts without forking over 4k for a new alienware that lasts 2 years.

@maximej13 You should absolutely get the M17x Alienware laptop. Also, it depends on how well you want it to run, and the price rang. I am getting myself a M17x with 8 GB of ram, 750 GB of memory, and an i7 Intel Core Processor. It runs any game with max settings with little to no lag. I am getting it for about 1,500 dollars. I hope this helped.
This just shows how far technology has progressed over the last two years. Now the M17x has options for the GTX 580, the Intel Core i7, 3D video playback and more than twice the amount of RAM. Still an awe-inspiring machine, though! I just wish they'd change the case design...
M14x you can't upgrade the video card. M14x runs hot, because the gpu and cpu shares one heatsink and fan. M17x has 2 fans and a dedicated gpu which you can upgrade anytime.
M17x is also not that big...M18x is huge, but m17x is pretty light for what it is given.
I entered a contest to try and win a m17x, I need a new laptop badly my nephew spilled coke over my current laptop so im missing like 3-4 keys also the most vital when gaming. I've got a broken battery so I need to have it's power plugged in constantly otherwise it shuts down.
So please god seriously let me have this little bit of luck so one of my dreams can come true that I own an Alienware laptop!
@bonbiniTj If you're going to use your PC for gaming I'd recommend a stationary computer: it's cheaper, more customizable, and more powerful. But if you travel a lot or use your PC at work you would obviously need a laptop.

@domdomdom1993 Actually..The m17x i7 configuration that I thought cost $2100 is actually around $1,500 right now + a $100 promo discount; it comes out to be $1,400ish..So I guess you're right I was wrong, its actually cheaper :] I think anything under 2K is a decent price for a beast gaming laptop. Now if alienware was selling the same laptop for $4850 as you claim, then yes I'd admit its way to expensive, but for 1.4K don't you think its a bargain?
@em34ev3r compared to other gaming laptops yes. I'm currently looking at the HP Pavilion g6-1220sa quad core amd apu, 6gb ddr3 1tb hdd. It seems to be laptop I can find that has respectable performance but is under $1000. My current laptop is being pushed way to hard trying to jobs it wasn't built to do.
@domdomdom1993 compared to other gaming laptops its sort of medium priced. What you get out of the alienware laptop though are the amenities and features you wouldn't get from other laptops but of course for some, the aesthetics appeal isn't nearly as important as the actual performance; which is why there are better laptops for the price out there. Asus G, MSI just to name a few.
@domdomdom1993 As for the laptop you're looking at, it's pretty good for the price. But if you're looking into 15 inch laptops there are more powerful laptops out there either under or little over 1000. Msi gt and Asus G53sx for examples, superb gaming laptops. I'm not sure about the reliability or quality of HP laptops since i've never owned one, but just looking at the performance aspect of it, it's pretty solid and couldn't go wrong with the price.

@chickentenderful if you want a good desktop PC to play games on , you should make one yourself because most modern gaming PC's are expensive . If your looking for a Laptop thats good to play on ,you should get an ASUS ROG (Republic of Gamers) , the G7 series . Hope this helps!

@skuggedreper man dont do it! i got the model shown with same the same speks ... it can do it..but they are riddled with problems. I played skyrim with it doesnt break a sweat (can get pretty warm 70'C) but if i had my time again...id keep my $3500

@skuggedreper@skuggedreper I'm uncertain about Shogun 2, however Battlefield 3 won't be possibly to run on Ultra (smoothly) with this laptop. High settings, with lower AA will however most of the time give you a smooth playing with some occassional microstuttering. (laggy screen)
If you can settle for a stationary computer you can get a better one than this for half the price.

@domdomdom1993 Actually..The m17x i7 configuration that I thought cost $2100 is actually around $1,500 right now + a $100 promo discount; it comes out to be $1,400ish..So I guess you're right I was wrong, its actually cheaper :] I think anything under 2K is a decent price for a beast gaming laptop. Now if alienware was selling the same laptop for $4850 as you claim, then yes I'd admit its way to expensive, but for 1.4K don't you think its a bargain?

@em34ev3r compared to other gaming laptops yes. I'm currently looking at the HP Pavilion g6-1220sa quad core amd apu, 6gb ddr3 1tb hdd. It seems to be laptop I can find that has respectable performance but is under $1000. My current laptop is being pushed way to hard trying to jobs it wasn't built to do.

@domdomdom1993 compared to other gaming laptops its sort of medium priced. What you get out of the alienware laptop though are the amenities and features you wouldn't get from other laptops but of course for some, the aesthetics appeal isn't nearly as important as the actual performance; which is why there are better laptops for the price out there. Asus G, MSI just to name a few.

@domdomdom1993 As for the laptop you're looking at, it's pretty good for the price. But if you're looking into 15 inch laptops there are more powerful laptops out there either under or little over 1000. Msi gt and Asus G53sx for examples, superb gaming laptops. I'm not sure about the reliability or quality of HP laptops since i've never owned one, but just looking at the performance aspect of it, it's pretty solid and couldn't go wrong with the price.

@skuggedreper man dont do it! i got the model shown with same the same speks ... it can do it..but they are riddled with problems. I played skyrim with it doesnt break a sweat (can get pretty warm 70'C) but if i had my time again...id keep my $3500

@skuggedreper @skuggedreper I'm uncertain about Shogun 2, however Battlefield 3 won't be possibly to run on Ultra (smoothly) with this laptop. High settings, with lower AA will however most of the time give you a smooth playing with some occassional microstuttering. (laggy screen)
If you can settle for a stationary computer you can get a better one than this for half the price.
