It has never been a Buddha's teaching we seek vengeance. Buddhism is a thorough teaching of earthly human way of life. This is why nobody sees violence when they bombed them. No vengeance. Why? They have planted the seed of bad karma. Karmic forces are at work. This country is full of negative vibes. It will not rise nor prosper. It is doomed to suffer for a long time. That's why Buddhism is such a peaceful religion. We reap what we sow. The middle path. Nothing extreme. Buddhism still exist.

If you study art or hear lectures of art.. and the history of colour - its origons. we are told vermillion(red) and blue come from Europe/France? they have dates as to the colours, when used,oil(mixing agent)etc. The murals of the buddhas in side the caves behind the afghan buddhas.They had used red and blue paint, proving the use of those colours before the dates that are given to art students. I think they need add another 600 years to their dates by the colours used on these- murals.

on another note.. about destruction. would it be wise to have statues full of gold and precious jewels encrusted ni its palm of hands and face. while the people in the country went hungry and live in poverty??

they are rebuilding the buddhas. but one thing they wont get right is the pathways(tunnels) in the head.. that is what those drop down holes are... that one might wonder why put a hole in the floor.. think charkra - think pathway- build a tunnel.the bamiyan buddhas will make the world have to rewrite its history on origon of colour. as the bamiyan buddhas use of red and blue oil paint 600 yrs prior to what we are told -cant aruge with the murals they found behind the buddhas

ONE MORE THING HAZARAS DID NOT BUILD THE BUDDHA IT WAS BUILT BY THE KUSHANS ANCIENT DWELLERS OF AFGHANISTAN IT WAS NEVER THE HAZARAS WHO CREATED THIS STATUE IM JUST CLEARING SOME FACTS HERE AS MANY SEEM TO NOT KNOW THIS IM A HISTORY STUDENT SO I KNOW THIS VERY WELL PEACE AND OUR NATION WILL LIVE AGAIN WE SHALL LIVE AGAIN!!!

@borneo215 my good freinds father is the landlord of this lost buddha area.. masser i sharrif- i wouldnt trust all history books.. theses buddhas prove their history origon of colour to be 600 years wrong..

in most of the time, ppl's action and decision is very much influenced by their geo-cultural environment. and to say that the afghans did this because of their religious teaching and obligation is not true. i am a student of comparative religions, and i believe that no religion in this world encourage this kind of action. this is not islamic action, this is afghanis. and not all afghanis really understood their religion.

They distroyed to hide the truth. They didnt want us to see such beautiful work made by humans who paid respects to the buddha. Why esle would anyone destroy things? I know ...they dont have a history grand enough like the one they destroyed. All that piled up bombs and dynamite, not much happening in life take it out with a statue of buddha they must be bored.

I remember when they shoot with bazokas on the statues as I was 8 years old, never really knew why. It's sad what they did, the historical value of the statues. . . guarding a beautiful valley and village.
