actually a car is fastest at a maximum yaw angle determined by the tires and the surface of the road so a sideways car is probably gonna be faster on those surfaces
1 is the slowest and 10 is the fastest. It roughly works out that 8, 9 and 10 are 5th gear... 5, 6 and 7 are 4th gear.... 3 and 4 are 3rd gear..... a 2 is 2nd and 1st may be needed for a 1 which is a hairpin.
yeah i know that, but im too use to the wrc's 1- 6 scale pace notes, but the one here does make sense giving a little detail on the sharpness of the road ahead
the comment wasnt condescending whatsoever, the driver focuses purely on driving the car and the co-driver more or less acts as an instructor. the co-driver is the one looking at the turns and he can figure how the driver should take the turn. sliding through that specific turn mightve thrown off the momentum for the next turn, its basic physics and has alot to do with directing momentum, not just keeping the car straight and hitting apex's.
....and as for the co-drivers right to comment on the driving..it's his life in the drivers hands and if he thinks he needs to alter his driving style for whatever reason he's better telling him.. I've done a fair bit of co-driving in my time too and it's always a two-way thing.
You armchair bandits should shuddup and get out there and actually do this stuff before writing this crap. That is some awesome driving. I bet the codriver is a bloody good driver too... it takes a good driver to know how to call it properly.
fantastic footage, fantastic driving and excellent navigating.
That first tree, on the left, when you were entering the wooded area. Yeah that one, i would have never made that turn, that tree would have been obliterated. Excellent driving, no doubt.
BRILLIANT footage!! Want to see more of this. But why was the Codriver telling the driver to watch the tail? I mean the driver is the one controlling the car at the situation, it is not up to the COdriver to make such a remark. That seemed very condescending to me.
It wasn't condescending at all. The comment made Scott focus more on what he was doing and keep the car straighter for the rest of the stage. A straight car is faster than a sideways one.
Yes but the pilot obviously is no beginner and knows what he's doing. What makes the codriver think he knows what attitude the car was in, and have the authority to tell the driver what to do. It just seems out of place, almost as if he was the instructor. A sideways car IS faster on curves, bends and turns in rallying.
What makes you so sure that he is or is not, obviously he know more about rally driving than you, YOU probably only know anything because you play some stupid video game, and YES A STRAIGHT CAR IS FASTER, YOU MORON, put a damn car on the road and see which way you will go faster forward or sideways then start commenting on other people
I have seen hundreds of in-car vids, indeed, tenfold that number in rally vids period, but this has to be among the best for the stage, the crew, not to mention footage.

Can you say:
100, brow, 3-left-don't-cut-log-inside, 100 into 4 left opens, 3 inside, wipers 400 long, left over crest, 9 left, 400 open. Turn, 1 right, slippy?
Although I agree with the other comment; not the most difficult stage.
I feel lame because my IX hasn't seen dirt yet ;-]

Now I know why my EVO 4 can't get near the well driven 9's here in the UK!! They've a fair bit more lift than my old bus!!
Great footage and some really nice wide roads you have there...check out my in-car to see what Scotland has to offer!!

You're certainly welcome to your opinion but you do realise that I am the co-driver in the car don't you?
